Symptoms started a few days after starting generic Zyrtec, which also caused unbelievable dryness that felt like I was dehydrated (no vomiting, though). Hello I have been taking generic Crestor for about two years. It has dropped my LDL to 39-45 range and blood glucose ranges from 105-111 fasting. A1c 5.1 - 5.3. Prior to the statin I was below 100. I am not overweight, exercise consistently and eat very healthy. So the statin is the culprit. I am wondering if being stricter on carb intake and supplementing with Berberine will help? Or has anyone had better outcomes with other statins like livalo or pravastatin?

s orders I cut out warm blooded animal fat and started on 20 mg generic Lipitor. My current test results are:
CHOLESTEROL 96 mg/dl (<199)
CHOLESTEROL.IN HDL 55 mg/dL (40-60)
CHOLESTEROL.IN LDL 34 mg/dL (<99)
TRIGLYCERIDE 33 mg/dL (<149)
Is it unhealthy for these results to be this low? I am a 72 YO male.
I had been taking crestor for many years and where I worked switched insurances. Needless to say the new insurance did not see it fit to pay for Crestor and I was switched to Simvastatin.
I used to never think anything of it but I did not have any of these problems prior to taking this new medicine, I cannot get any doctors to confirm this could be the problem so I chose to quit taking it myself. Seems like I do not have any problem when not taking the medicine.
The generic doesn't seem to work as well for a lot of people. My endo also feels the same way, that brand name is good and generic stay away from.
My first question to you would be whether you noticed this problem of premature ejaculation after starting Crestor? If yes, then Crestor is the culprit. Though, not a very common side effect of Crestor, this drug can cause loss of libido or premature ejaculation or both. Similarly, Nebivolol, which is a beta blocker, can cause ejaculation issues and erectile dysfunction.
I take synthroid and was wondering if the generic is just as good? Someone told me to never take the generic so I pay extra for the name brand. TIA!

There has been a VERY long lived debate about the efficacy of generic vs brand name meds. For most people, they seem to be able to use either interchangeably with little or no difference in the effectiveness. For other people, they report a BIG difference in the effectiveness of the generic and have to stick with a brand name, sometimes even a specific brand name.
Some meds have more of a reputation for this than others.

I was on it for about six years (first three on brand name - there was no generic yet) then on generic and it stopped working (unrelated situation). However, as you mentioned above, the only thing consistent between generics is the active ingredients, every generic has a different mix of inactive and binding agents. If you can afford it, brand name is great, but if not, there are many different companies that make generic sertraline now, so one bad generic doesn't mean all are bad.
I just started the generic Cytomel yesterday so it's too soon to tell a difference, but I talked to a pharmacist and was told that if you're starting on generic you should be fine. People who took the brand name and then switched to generic may have a little problem. I can share with you what my endo told me. He is not impressed by the generic levothyroxine. He stated the generic is often manufactured in places like India where the potency range only has to fall between 30-60% effective to be accepted, whereas when Synthroid is manufactured in the USA, its potency has to be 60-95% effective. The generic is often bought from India because it can be bought for pounds of meds on the dollar, whereas in the US it is ounces on the dollar.
