I am not overweight, exercise consistently and eat very healthy. So the statin is the culprit. I am wondering if being stricter on carb intake and supplementing with Berberine will help? Or has anyone had better outcomes with other statins like livalo or pravastatin?

s orders I cut out warm blooded animal fat and started on 20 mg generic Lipitor. My current test results are:
CHOLESTEROL 96 mg/dl (<199)
CHOLESTEROL.IN HDL 55 mg/dL (40-60)
CHOLESTEROL.IN LDL 34 mg/dL (<99)
TRIGLYCERIDE 33 mg/dL (<149)
Is it unhealthy for these results to be this low? I am a 72 YO male.
I had been taking crestor for many years and where I worked switched insurances. Needless to say the new insurance did not see it fit to pay for Crestor and I was switched to Simvastatin.
I used to never think anything of it but I did not have any of these problems prior to taking this new medicine, I cannot get any doctors to confirm this could be the problem so I chose to quit taking it myself. Seems like I do not have any problem when not taking the medicine.
I had to look twice at the date on your post to be sure. Crestor is not new, it's been out for almost 7 years. It's called the "gorilla statin" because it is much more effective than the lighter statins like lipitor and zocor. As such, it does have higher incidence of side effects.
Check with your doc about any muscle soreness when on a statin, there is a blood check to see if it's anything to worry about.
My first question to you would be whether you noticed this problem of premature ejaculation after starting Crestor? If yes, then Crestor is the culprit. Though, not a very common side effect of Crestor, this drug can cause loss of libido or premature ejaculation or both. Similarly, Nebivolol, which is a beta blocker, can cause ejaculation issues and erectile dysfunction.
Anything at all to reduce the ill effects of rythmol, coreg, crestor, apirin, levo. I have not slept one night through for five years without two or three hour-long sweats/chills, nauseas, dizziness, weakness, fatigue etc. I'm 86 and tired of it. One stent 2010, RCA. My Asthma Dr. said that he would consider changing from Lipitor 5 mg to Crestor (dosage not yet mentioned) after 1 more blood test. 3 years ago another dr. suggested a change, but cardiologist said no need to. I expect his physician had something to say to him about it. How did he respond? Cholesterol that high usually is genetic. Have any of his relatives had heart attacks at a young age? He should be on a statin immediately. Even with his current diet and sedentary lifestyle, a cholesterol lowering statin would go a long way to getting his numbers better. I was put on Lipitior and it raised my liver enzymes. Now I am on Crestor and it works great and cholesterol is normal.

I have been taking 1000 mg Niaspan for six years to treat genetically high Lipoprotein(a). Now my physician wants to stop the Niaspan and begin a very small dose of Crestor. His reason is due to a recent study indicating Niaspan as a risk of causing bleeding and/or infection problems. Swelling has been controlled with diuertics. I take generic Toprol and Crestor to lower cholesterol. I have been tested for sleep apnea and have had an night time oxygen study done. I did some research on crestor after I posted my first question and saw that there have been lots of issues with Crestor raising blood sugars in type 2 diabetics. The Crestor site even says that this can happen. If you google Crestor raising blood sugars there are many websites that come up. I am not disputing the fact that diabetes is progressive, but it is just so odd that days after starting these meds my blood sugars started getting out of wack.
