Crestor and vertigo

Common Questions and Answers about Crestor and vertigo

crestor

I stopped taking Crestor because after researching the side effects I found that in some patients Crestor at 5 mg (which is the dosage I was taken) caused dizziness, vertigo, etc to the nervous system. Since, I stopped it in June around the 20th. I am still experiencing the dizziness and loopy feeling, especially when I lay on my right side. My question is how long does it take for Crestor to cycle out of your system? and Have anyone else reported these same problems?

No diagnosed family history of MS, no tremors, serious eye exams show no abnormalities, just a really bad headache that lasted two months. I was dizzy, vertigo, and couldnt kick a frontal headache. The tinnitus is not new - having had it for 12 years in both ears along with vertigo on/off. Maybe the whooshing is nothing to worry about. I know that with Sudden Deafness some odd sounds in that dead ear are to be expected - like chriping, tones, buzzing - all of which I have. But - this "whoosh" has me concerned. I have asked two ENT's but got no useful reply. If this symptom is not serious - and just an annoyance - then I can just learn to ignore it - and start adjusting to it.

He was EXTREMELY helpful in my understanding of vertigo. Vertigo is caused when something gets out of sync between the two ear's inner balance organs. These consist of three tubes in each ear filled with fluid. The tubes also have tiny hairs. Without these organs, it would be impossible to have any sense of balance. But sometimes the signals arrive at different times to the brain and the brain gets confused. (I am sure the doctor was greatly simplyfying the syndrome for me - a layman.

They say he has developed small bypass arteries in the back of the neck which are supplying blood to the brain. He has now started having what we thought was Vertigo, but over the last couple of weeks it seems to be happening daily. Doesn't matter what he is doing, he just all of a sudden gets dizzy and cannot stand. He is also diabetic but we have checked his sugar levels when this happens and it doesn't seem that is the problem.

When I was hypo, my cholesterol shot up. My doctor wanted to put me on Crestor and I refused. I told him that I'd start the thyroid med and if getting my levels right didn't bring my cholesterol down, I'd look at diet and exercise, and the Crestor would be the last resort. That was over 4 years ago and I still don't take Crestor, or any other cholesterol drug. I've since learned that my cholesterol goes up and down with thyroid levels. In all fairness, I also now have a different doctor!!
I also have brain pain when I blow my nose. I just went on Crestor, so I thought it may be due to this, but now I think it was the shot or the combo if both. I went off Crestor and am seeing the doctor today, since I still feel dizzy and have some ringing in my ears, along with neck pain.
I am going to a new doctor on the 25th, he was recommend by someone on this list and hope that he will clarify all this and help me to feel better. Iwas taking 5mg Crestor and realized the terrible leg cramps and muscle pain and extreme fatique was being caused by it. I stopped and the cramps stopped and the fatique got much better. My thyroid is not straightened out yet but I am in hopes that this doctor will test what is necessary and help by symptoms and not by tsh only.
