For 2 months I have suffered with dry cracked lips, redness in corners of mouth. Moisture tends to collect in corners of mouth. I feel like if I smile my mouth is stretching. I am constantally wiping the moisture out of the corners of my mouth. My lips have a burning sensation inside and out. Mouthwash sets me on fire, but just the anterior portion of my mouth. I have tried many kinds of chapstick. The redness in the corners of my mouth is spreading. It is very embarassing.

This is for my mother. She has such severe dry deep cracked feet, that they swell to a degree she is often in a wheel chair for extended periods of time. The pain is unbearable for her. SHe has seen several dermatologists and an immunologist. Has been tested for Lupus and other auto immune disorders all were negative. The dr's give her creams that don't help for more than a few days then they flair up again worse than time before. Last night her feet swelled to more than twice the normal size.

Hi everyone. At 21 weeks into treatment, my lips have cracked and on one ocassion they bled. I have a good quality lip balm and that helps at times but I was wondering what others might have used or done to combat this problem. It sort of comes and goes like the severity of the cracking. thank you all......

My girlfriend complains that she doesnt like kissing me because I always have sticky mucousy lips. I brush two to three times a day and drink plenty of water. It is quite annoying because I want to be able to kiss her, and now it is starting to put me off kissing altogether. I also have mild asthma and this could be to do with it. I have been taping my mouth up at night for a month to train myself to always breathe through my nose, but so far no great changes.

Along with thrush, my lips burned, were very red, raw, were numb and the natural lines in my lips became small cracks which a yellow pus came out of. The infection (or whatever it was) spread a little farther than the edges of my lips. I went to the doctor who was able to cure the thrush but could do nothing about my lips. He gave me different topical creams, none of which seemed to work. I started using hydrocortisone cream, but that didn't seem to help at all either.
Basically as Chris described, they would peel every week around the 4th or 5th day, leaving a red glossy base, then as new skin would begin to grow, it would never attach normally leading to dry, cracked, stained lips. Also, they would soak when touched by water leaving them looking like white puss. I have used every kind of cortisone, ointment, and balm there is including(Ultravate, Elecon, Bactroban, Desonide, to name a few.
hey - i was recently having some trouble with very dry, irritated skin down there.. The first time I went to the doc thinking it was a yeast infection, but she said it was just very dry & she gave me a prescription cream that has really been working great everytime. Also, I shower twice a day (before work & after the gym) and she thought the water was irritating it.
I have had dry, swollen, cracked, peeling skin on my eyelids which has become progressively worse over 7 years. Have been prescribed cortisone but only is an overnight cure. Is this exceme? or psoriasis? or allergies? How can I get over this??? HELP!!!
FROM THE HIV EXPERTS HERE AT MEDHELP: "As you know from other posts about oral sex, our stance is that giving or receiving oral sex is not a risk for HIV. Some others suggest that there is an appreciable risk of HIV from oral sex however, there are no convincing scientific reports which support these statements. The presence of a burn in your mouth, or a sore, or ingestion of blood does not change this. Still no risk an no reason for testing.
my lips were cracked while on tx. my study nurse told me to use tinactin. she said it was an infection like fungus. it really worked for me. i know it sounds weird but it's great. good luck.
My lips have been chapped, sore, cracked, red and irritating for absolutely ages. I have dermatitis and eczema on my face and arms, so could it have been transferred through scratching to my lips? Also nothing is working (steroids, e45, aqueous cream, vaseline, chapsticks etc.) so any advice there?
