cpap

1555684 tn?1294434646 Became an invalid and lost my career much too young. Found a website where members help other adjusting to using CPAP and tried again. It was truly my last hope. I have never regained full capacities, but I am sooooo much better. I only wish I had fought through the early issues with using CPAP. Now it is no big deal. And they'll have to prove to me any other means will do better, then I will discuss not using my CPAP. Sorry to be so passionate about this, but CPAP literally saved my life.
439553 tn?1210776816 Will i more than likely get a CPAP mask to help me sleep? Has anyone else had this same thing happen to them? What do you think the possible treatment will be? i am just tired of being tired all the time. i want a normal life back!
Avatar f tn The problem started for me one fine day when there was absolutely no stress in my life. I have been using CPAP after the titration study, but the sleep pattern hasn't changed. This leads me to believe something else as the cause of this fragmented sleep pattern. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn Than I started with night sweats and brushed it off as PreMenopause (my Mom hit Menopause at a young age). I awake 2-3 time to urinate a night now, and have been told my snoring has increased (to the point I find myself sleeping alone in the bed). The last several weeks I am finding myself extremely exhausted after getting 7 hrs + of good sleep, or so I think. I finally called my Doctor today and have an appointment Tuesday.
Avatar n tn If he has sleep apnea, it can usually be successfully treated with with a cpap machine, some try oral devices or surgery. Sleep apnea is worsened by alcohol. Sleep apnea causes progressive health damage and puts one at increased risk of cardiac problems and stroke. It puts one at increased risk of an accident, and robs of energy and mental acuity. It's also been reported to contribute to impotence and decreased libido, also problems with diabetes and high blood pressure.
Avatar n tn I started CPAP approximately a month ago. Have noticed about every other night I wake up in the middle of the night with a sensation that is quite excruciating in the back of my upper thigh. It feels like one would feel if they have lain on a hard object for many hours and then suddenly had that object pulled away like a bandage over a really tender wound. I rub the spot and find that the entire upper thigh is painful but also without feeling at all (if that contradiction makes any sense).
Avatar n tn *on a CPAP machine. Not *in one. Sorry for the typo. You don't go *in a CPAP machine.

332074 tn?1229560525 I know that they are going to put me on a cpap machine. I know I would do okay with the mask that is just the two little prongs that go in your nose. However in the past when I have had surgery I have gone crazy when they have put the mask over my mouth and nose. I have always had very bad allergies and can not stand to have anything touching my nose and mouth. So I was wondering how do they determine what is the best mask for you to have?
Avatar n tn My wife uses a cpap machine with moisture every night. She has had two bouts with pneumonia this winter which she never had before using the cpap machine. Questions: Can breathing in excess moist air into the lungs by means of the cpap machine overload the lungs with moisture and cause problems?
Avatar f tn Shhhhhhh - your brain and body are listening. Give yourself some positive self talk, such as... I can do ANYTHING for just 30 days. Sleeping in my own home and bed will be nothing like in that lab. I'm going to take advantage of this change to get 30 days of real quality sleep. I'm glad that CPAP increases my likelihood of a good surgical outcome and recovery. I'm glad the next 30 days I will be at reduced risk of heart attack and stroke.
Avatar n tn since using cpap machine started swelling in feet, ankles, hands and stomach. stopped using machine for 4 days swelling went away. started using again for 3 days swelling came back.
Avatar f tn I started taking amlodipine 5mg. I started using cpap as well and the apelnea numbers have come down significantly. But the BP has been never in control.. Offlate Im feeling anciety, bp shots up with very little work, feel like an impending doom when Im alone..im fed of all symptoms.
Avatar m tn ve lived my life in a state of exhaustion, until use of my cpap machine, and that has often caused very bad seizures. Without my cpap machine, I don't think I'd be here making this post.
Avatar m tn I noticed I had gained over 6 pounds since starting CPAP. After just one night without the CPAP I dropped 3 pounds, which I believe is all fluids. My question is this: Could CPAP use cause your kidneys not to filter out fluids from your blood? When using CPAP I do not get up during the night to urinate. After one night without using CPAP I did get up to go to the bathroom, my weight dropped by 3 pounds and the pain is greatly reduced.
Avatar n tn I have been using a CPAP machine for almost 3 months. From the night I used it I did not wake to go to the bathroom during the night. Although this was nice, I developed a problem immediately (from the first night) with swelling in my legs (calves, ankles, feet) and in my hands. I did NOT mention it to the sleep doctor because It was a month until my follow-up appointment and I never saw it listed as a side effect of CPAP therapy in materials I read.
Avatar f tn I had to discontinue using my cpap, due to chronic lung infections. Changing the tubing, keeping it spotless, did not help prevent infection for me. Stopping the cpap treatment, is the only thing that prevented the chronic lung infections...and I always used the humitifer, which never helped prevent any infection... I regret ever having the sleep study and I regret what all the money and time it cost me, and the suffering of 3 years of lung infections...I am so done using the cpap treatment!
1173253 tn?1263496613 I am not sleeping as I keep taking off the CPAP to blow my nose or to cough. Could I be allergic to the CPAP, or the dirt or germs in the tubing, or to the air that is sucked in thru the CPAP? No matter how good I feel in the day.....I get worse at night? Help Please.
514349 tn?1272801633 I have other sleep problems, but I have not yet had to go to a CPAP. I understand if I wish to go to a CPAP my doctor requires I do another overnight in hospital (or other sleep study center) CPAP test to determine the best "settings" for me. So far I am CPAP free.
Avatar f tn Hi Meagher sorry you are having problem with your CPAP the only thing i may suggest is another type of mask i dout if the CPAP machine would send out any toxic air what i my suggest is run the CPAP for a while please let me know how you get on........
Avatar n tn A related discussion, <a href="/posts/Sleep-Disorders/puffy-eyelids-with-CPAP/show/2124934">puffy eyelids with CPAP</a> was started.
Avatar f tn I've been on a CPAP for 2 1/2 weeks. I'm sleeping relatively well with it, 7-8 hours per night. Almost every day since I've had the CPAP I've had headaches. The headaches don't start when I get up, but rather a few hours later in the day. Earlier this week I saw my doctor for a check up and told him about these headaches, and he said they were real and probably caused by pressure on the brain.
Avatar m tn This machine dries up the eyes and nasal passages which causes irritation, burning and sneezing. However pulmonary fibrosis cannot be due to CPAP use. Alternatively uses of CPAP mask in pulmonary fibrosis can cause claustrophobia like symptoms. Lung scarring occurs due to pathological deposition of fibrous tissue. This is a progressive disease usually and hence needs frequent periodic monitoring.
Avatar n tn Post nasal drip is seen commonly in sinusitis, nasal polyps and allergies. Since all these causes have been excluded CPAP seems to be the most likely cause. CPAP is known to cause post nasal drip and dry cough in its users. I would suggest you to please consult an ENT specialist as soon as possible. Take care!
