Cpap water in mask

Common Questions and Answers about Cpap water in mask

cpap

Avatar m tn Personally, I would be hesitant to add anything directly to the water in the cpap humidifier without researching if it was acceptable to inhale, as far as lung safety. There are scents made from essential oils that I use on a small cotton pad outside the air intake of my cpap, and I like the ones with some menthol in them, though any scent would make less obvious any water, plastic, or other odors.
Avatar f tn Hi Meagher sorry you are having problem with your CPAP the only thing i may suggest is another type of mask i dout if the CPAP machine would send out any toxic air what i my suggest is run the CPAP for a while please let me know how you get on........
Avatar n tn I cant stand it anymore, 4 weeks in and I am lucky if I sleep 2 hours, its going back on friday

Avatar n tn My husband has been on a cpap machine for a year now. In the past three or four months he has developed a large amount of mucus and slime in his throat and head. To the point that it makes him vomit every morning and now it is getting to happening sometimes in the course of the day. He has had tests to try to find the problem but have come up with nothing so was wondering if it could be from the cpap machine. Has anyone else had this problem ? We are desperate so please help if you can.
Avatar f tn The use of CPAP can decrease the amount of urine that you produce with a consequent increase in water retention and body weight. For the first two weeks of CPAP therapy I suggest that you weigh yourself every day when you wake up in the morning. If you notice a sudden increase in your body weigh (more than 3-4 pounds in one day), please contact your physician.
1218873 tn?1300091216 The mask I have is a small, and I have a dry mouth spray that I use before I put the mask on. I have used the CPAP every night, but 2 weeks in I am still having problems. I will look into the mouth wash and see if it is available in the UK I tried a bit of DIY on Saturday night by wearing a inch wide elastic band around my head to keep my mouth shut. It worked like a dream.
1237284 tn?1267997794 I wash my humidiifier box both the plastic top and the alluminum bottom, my 6 foot hose and my face mask in my bathroom sink with Ajax Dishwashing soap and hot well warm water then everything is taken apart. I lay a towell on my bed and lay the peices on it and let them air dry befor I put this back to gether.
332074 tn?1229560525 I know I would do okay with the mask that is just the two little prongs that go in your nose. However in the past when I have had surgery I have gone crazy when they have put the mask over my mouth and nose. I have always had very bad allergies and can not stand to have anything touching my nose and mouth. So I was wondering how do they determine what is the best mask for you to have?
1218873 tn?1300091216 I always had it set on at least #3 and often amped it up to #4 in the winter. Now I sleep in an adjustable frame bed and have the CPAP unit sitting just below my raised head sleeping position. I didn’t realize at first that I would need to lower the humidity setting. It became clear within a night or two when I awoke to water beads collecting in the tubing and dripping from the nasal pillows. The humidity balance returned to normal as soon as I decreased the setting to #2.
525545 tn?1293181194 m assuming you had a second sleep study done with CPAP to determine the correct pressure and type of mask--did your doctor's report state that your sleep quality significantly improved with CPAP? Typically, companies that provide you with the CPAP machine have a card with a microchip in it that monitors how often the machine is being used, for what period of time, and whether or not it is being properly used (via pressure measurements and recordings).
Avatar f tn I just received a new pressure (8) on my humidified CPAP, and I'm having a big problem the minute I get up: tickling to actual burning when the air hits my nasal membranes, runny nose, and constant sneezing. When my machine was set at 3, this happened a couple of times a month, - I blamed myself, thinking the CPAP hadn't been properly cleaned. But now I clean it in hot soapy water every day, and the problem is every single day! Do any of you have this problem?
Avatar n tn ve tried to use CPAP for more than a year with no success, using full mask, nasal mask or nasal pillows with chin strap. They either keep me from falling asleep, or I can't get them easily reseated without leaks if I have to get out of bed during the night. I also have trouble keeping the headgear/chin strap in place even when it's correctly adjusted; it slips off my head. I have to over-tighten it; not only uncomfortable, but it irritates my skin. Have you tried CPAP Pro?
Avatar f tn Also, I am having a machine delivered and set up by a tech in 2 days. Which machine is easiest to handle. I have heard horror stories about CPAP. The main problem was the fact that the air is blowing back at your nose when trying to exhale. Can't this be adjusted. Help me to know what to expect and which machine is best.
Avatar n tn I have a Jones tube in left eye. I recently started using a cpap, starting with the mask before going to the newer nose unit. The pressurized air (on lower setting of 7) also blows under my eyelid. I filled the left nose cup with soft paper to direct air through right nostril only. This helps, but when I exhale, the outgoing air sends some of the flow through the Jones tube. I MUST use the cpap, as my blood oxygen got into the 60s during sleep study, and breathing interrupted 30 times.
Avatar m tn yeah needing to do something different. but the cpap mask is full mask. and think i remember its on auto. one of the new resmed models .
Avatar m tn 47AM Hi my name is Steve My question is how long in days or hours of use , should i be using the silicon rubber face mask on my sleep Apnea machine before it is changed ( replaced ) for a new one, I feel that I am using the mask for too long, can you assist me please !
Avatar n tn I have just got a CPAP machine and have had 3 nights with it. I've had sleep apnea for many many years and finally did something about it. My questions are for those who've been through the "getting used to it" process.
Avatar n tn m having increasing vitreous floaters with the use of a nasal mask possibly related to air pressure on eyes from leaks in mask or from the air exhaust. Is this possible and any changes could help ie nostril cpcp.?Has this 'side effect' been reported before?
Avatar f tn Hi I've been diagnosed with mild obstructive sleep apnea and mild narcolepsy. I've got a long history of sleep paralysis and I use a cpap machine. But my sleep paralysis is getting worse. If my husband doesn't take off my cpap mask, I will stay stuck in the paralysis. So far I believe this to be for atleast 15mins as he went tto feed our son after I woke and I was stuck there until he returned and I could grunt at him. In addition, I also am practically not breathing.
Avatar f tn I have had excellent luck with the Resmed Mirage Quattro mask. It has a knob at the top of the mask that adjusts the pressure against the forehead and nose. I wake-up without redness or cuts on the nose. It is a full face mask which is a concern if you're using the nasal CPAP. I was getting redness and cuts when I first started using CPAP but it turns out that my mask was too small. Once I went to a large Mirage Quattro, the bleeding stopped.
Avatar m tn I seem to have developed an alergic reaction to my cpap mask. I have little red bumps on the right side of my face only in areas where the mask hits my face, ie. the silicone seal. What can I do to avoid this other than obviously not use the mask? Are my symptoms consistent with a mask alergy? My Dr. says its an alergic reaction and said to get a non alergenic mask.. I don't know where. The bumps are ITCHY and tend to be in tight little circles, some what like acne.
5466288 tn?1410485185 Thanks for replying.I was afraid that would be the answer.I do have sleep apnea, but due to moving and needing new mask and other equipment,I haven't been using my CPAP.

1622896 tn?1562364967 Hi i suffer with sleep apnea also i am on sleeping tablets ( Zopiclone) is it ok to be on both as i have been on tabs for a long time and would not like it if i come off (Zopiclone) HELP thankyou
Avatar n tn Both are great sites with lots of experienced CPAP users giving out some great advice. I also participate in the www.apneasupport.org site. One of the more common reasons given for swollen eyes is an air leak. This also means that the pressure is not optimal, and he's not getting the full amount of air pressure into his lungs. Another reason is pressure by the mask on the face, preventing venous outflow from the eyelids.
