There was a few weeks of data, and we changed from Autopap to Cpap with c-flex and a ramp rate on the same machine, with a nasal mask only.

I was completely unable to handle cpap as it induced vertigo (a problem which I have intermittently), and sharp pains in my ears. I worked with the doctor and even on the lowest settings I had problems. I tried an oral device, but I have severe TMJ and it was too painful. I tested for oxygen desaturation this week and it went down to 88%. The doctor is offering me oxygen. I realize this isn't a replacement for cpap, but given my situation, could this be at all helpful?

I had a sleep study last April (or thereabouts) and the doctor said a CPAP may help but that the sleep study showed I was getting sufficient REM sleep (17% is what I recall) and I can say I am not tired during my awake time (8 am to 12 midnight) - of course I can fall asleep watching TV or reading, but I don't think I am tired as much as bored.

I found out what it was. The CPAP machine mask I just bought was putting pressure on my eye nerves. The air blowing through the tube was blowing straight into my eyes. No wonder I couldn't focus and my eyes were having problems focusing. I have only been using the machine a few days. Who knows what kind of damage it could have done. I called up the supply company and destroyed their ears for about a half an hour!

A particularly bad night would leave by heart skipping for days. A sleep study and CPAP therapy completely cured the problem. Yo umight want to look into breathing problems while you sleep as a cause for your problem.

I just went back for 1 year from diagnosis scans along with some of my symptoms getting worse and after a lot of fear and research, am going under the knife March 20th 2013. i just went for my second sleep study to be hooked up to the cpap. the first one said i quit breathing and was breathing very shallow. once i get my new machine how long will it take to be back to 100%. i could tell the morning after that i did feel a little better and did not have a headaache.

I know that they are going to put me on a cpap machine. I know I would do okay with the mask that is just the two little prongs that go in your nose. However in the past when I have had surgery I have gone crazy when they have put the mask over my mouth and nose. I have always had very bad allergies and can not stand to have anything touching my nose and mouth. So I was wondering how do they determine what is the best mask for you to have?

Shhhhhhh - your brain and body are listening. Give yourself some positive self talk, such as... I can do ANYTHING for just 30 days. Sleeping in my own home and bed will be nothing like in that lab. I'm going to take advantage of this change to get 30 days of real quality sleep. I'm glad that CPAP increases my likelihood of a good surgical outcome and recovery. I'm glad the next 30 days I will be at reduced risk of heart attack and stroke.
