Common Questions and Answers about Cpap supplies without prescription

cpap

Avatar f tn My friend's company replaces his CPAP supplies whenever he asks. They give you instructions on how to keep it clean. Obviously nobody wants to do it, but there are consequences. Otherwise they would let you do it the easy way. Now you have unexplained lung nodules, so you will have to get a biopsy to find out what is going on. Nobody here can help you.
Avatar n tn I finally convinced my primary care physician to write a prescription for cpap. You need a prescription for a cpap machine since it is a medical device - it is illegal to sell it without one. As someone with undiagnosed UARS, I will tell you that the dental device (TAP, Somnodent) is much better first-line treatment. It took me 3 months to adjust the dental devices to reach the optimum lower jaw advancement setting. I have tried both the cpap and TAP and Somnodent dental devices.
Avatar m tn Was given a machine with no humidifier, which was totally useless. Once I got the humidifier added, CPAP eliminated my daytime sleepiness. I wanted to make CPAP work better, tried prescription nasal spray, still only one nostril open. Went on an elimination diet searching for food allergies/sensitivities. Bingo. Eliminated two very common foods, and both my nostrils are now wide open with no blockage. I kept getting periodic sinus infections from the CPAP.
Avatar n tn I didn't relate the horrible red bloodshot eyes to the CPAP, but now that my eyelids are swollen, itchy and my eyes are staying red, and the only thing that's changed is I've been wearing a cpap mask for the past 8 nights...I guess that's what's happening. I called the sleep clinic, talked to a nurse and she told me to stop the cpap for a couple nights to see if it got better. I've gone one night without the cpap...
7193739 tn?1389094691 I am not sleeping for more than an hour at a time and have tried 3 different prescription medications and many over the counter meds as well to no avail. Is there a way to have the pressure turned down on a machine without seeing a sleep specialist or would there be any advice on how to help my ear to heal or at least do something to be able to wear the cpap at the volume it is currently set at? I was afraid ear plugs or something might cause more damage.
Avatar n tn This is a difficult issue for many people. People don't realize just how expensive managing diabetes can be. I have a couple of suggestions, but I can't promise that any of them will come through for you. Test strips seem to be the most difficult thing to obtain at reduced rates. First, I would ask your doctor to write a letter to wherever you state assistance is coming from and emphasize the importance of testing to maintining your health.
Avatar m tn I’ve had sleep issues for many years and regularly use a cpap machine. I was on Ambien for 15 years and my physician weaned me off it, even though it worked well for me. My current routine has been, go to bed at 11:00 pm after taking (10 mg melatonin), (50 mg Trazodone), (100 mg Gabapentin). That has worked for 2 years giving me 7-8 hours uninterupted sleep.
961503 tn?1247059639 Go back to whoever you get your cpap supplies from and ask about a full face mask. The chin strap did not work for me....... I had to get the mask that covers both nose and mouth. Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn Pressure support ventilation, where air under gentle pressure is passed into the airways keeping it patent. A CPAP delivers continuous pressure for both inhaling and exhaling. As this supplies continuous amount of air pressure the person has to exhale against this extra pressure. This makes it imperfect or unsuitable for certain people, such as those who are suffering from neuromuscular diseases.
Avatar m tn I have been suffering from lightheadedness and feel like fainting for couple of years without any medical explanation. I have been diagnosed with moderate obstructive sleep apnea and I am using CPAP machine now. What bothers me is that my apnea events have come down. I only have zero to 5 events per night. But still I am desaturated <90% 5-10% of the time during nights. Otherwise my saturation is between 90-95%. During day my saturation is 95-96%.
Avatar f tn I've been on a CPAP for 2 1/2 weeks. I'm sleeping relatively well with it, 7-8 hours per night. Almost every day since I've had the CPAP I've had headaches. The headaches don't start when I get up, but rather a few hours later in the day. Earlier this week I saw my doctor for a check up and told him about these headaches, and he said they were real and probably caused by pressure on the brain.
Avatar n tn I have sleep apnea and was using the cpap machine but used it only once cause i could not at all sleep with a mask on my mouth and I could not aford to pay for it. So I returned it ,but now i cant sleep and during the day at abut after 12 noon i feel really tires and headaches and very sleepy . So i take caffine pills everyday to stay awake. I know taking pills is no the answer and I should be using the machine. My question is is there any other way to cure my problem with out the machine.
Avatar n tn no CPAP is great, I have BIPAP and I get headaches without it- you should really work hard and try to adjust to CPAP If you get oxygen that can help also I have asthma too but I would be much worse without cpap
1572585 tn?1309245054 Hi everyone. I was dizgnosed with sleep apnea a few years ago... I used my CPAP machine for a while in the beginning and thaqt seemed to have helped. Latelly, Due to several factors such as stress, withdrawing from seroquel, withdrawing from xanax, and such, I have had to ask for sleep meds prescription. I take restoril which helps, however I stay in bed for 12 hours at a time... I decided to try cutting the capsule in half, to see if that would help with the amount of time I spend in bed...
Avatar n tn There are pharmaceutical assistance programs offered directly by some drug companies for people with diabetes who have little or no insurance to help offset the cost of supplies or prescription medications. The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association (800-762-4636) has information on such programs. Additionally, the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a publication called "Financial Help for Diabetes Care.
Avatar n tn There are two possible solutions: move to one of the new mini CPAP masks. Second use Refresh PM ointment in both eyes at bedtime and Refresh or Systane ULTRA artifical tears on awakening.
Avatar n tn I have Guardian Insurance and they have already told me even though my supplies are a prescription from my Doctor they are considered "major medical" and are not covered , is it worth fighting for that ? it may be ?
Avatar m tn I noticed I had gained over 6 pounds since starting CPAP. After just one night without the CPAP I dropped 3 pounds, which I believe is all fluids. My question is this: Could CPAP use cause your kidneys not to filter out fluids from your blood? When using CPAP I do not get up during the night to urinate. After one night without using CPAP I did get up to go to the bathroom, my weight dropped by 3 pounds and the pain is greatly reduced.
Avatar m tn Pillows should be kept to the minimum. Lowering the CPAP pressure can help but do not do this without consulting your sleep specialist. Switching over to bilevel pressure or C-Flex may help you too. So ask your specialist about it. Hope this helps. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn org probably without a prescription. They are sold by regular people on craigslist.org. I checked it for you and saw that there were Iowa postings starting at $350. Set the initial pressure to a low setting like at 7 cm and see if you feel a bit better – if so then you definitely have sleep disordered breathing. Dr. Guilleminault at Stanford began testing cpap on UARS patient starting off at 7 cm so I know this is a safe setting.
Avatar n tn The rules may be different in your state, but in NY, it's perfectly acceptable to request a CPAP prescription from your sleep doctor so you can order it on your own, from where ever you wish.
Avatar f tn ) Would never consider going to bed without it. Now that I know what good sleep feels like, I don't want to sleep any other way. Best wishes. You can do this.

Avatar f tn com/diabetes/assistance-programs/free-insulin-pump-supplies-1.html might be helpful. There seems to be more help available for pump supplies for children than for adults.
Avatar n tn My doctor recently suggested I try a product called CPAP Pro because I can't tolerate headgear/mask systems. I'd like to hear from anyone who's had experience with it. I've tried to use CPAP for more than a year with no success, using full mask, nasal mask or nasal pillows with chin strap. They either keep me from falling asleep, or I can't get them easily reseated without leaks if I have to get out of bed during the night.
