Common Questions and Answers about Cpap supplies used

cpap

Avatar f tn 16 months ago, I began a series of CAT scans, all of which revealed multiple lung nodules. Recently, the dry cough has become severe, and I ran a fever, which responded to a Zpak given by my doubtful GP. I've been using a CPAP since 2000, but have never paid much attention to washing my supplies, nor replacing them in a timely fashion. Nor have I used distilled water in my "heated" humidifier, as that is an added expense. The machines have been replaced a few times though.
Avatar f tn I wouldn't buy a used mattress unless you know the person your buying it from(cause you don't know where it was stored and might have bugs and roaches etc inside), no used carseats,if your breast feeding no used pumps(unless there hospital grade because you can't clean or sterilize them fully)..
961503 tn?1247059639 Go back to whoever you get your cpap supplies from and ask about a full face mask. The chin strap did not work for me....... I had to get the mask that covers both nose and mouth. Hope that helps!
679466 tn?1247006054 I have mild obstructive sleep apnea. PO2 only drops into mid 80's sometimes, mostly low 90's, but overnight polysomnogram says I have 13 apneic events per hour. I've tried O2 overnight (used neighbor's) and PO2 stays in the high 90's. Is that a sufficient treatment?... or do I need the positive pressure of CPAP. I've tried the CPAP and I've completely failed. Mostly keeps me from sleeping well unless I'm on Ambien.
Avatar n tn Hi, not heard from you for sometime, hope now you are doing well and have got adjusted to your new CPAP machine. Initial discomfort is commone but in due course you will get used to it. How did you do your recent sleep study. Any advise from your physician. Take care and keep updating your feedback.
Avatar f tn He is not a smoker, but he has used the cpap for several years now. Could not changing his tubing and mask cause an infection in his lungs that could cause him to have these problems? (it has been a long time since he changed his tubing and we are remedying that today) Around July of this year he started noticing a heaviness in his chest and it got bad enough that he had me make him a doctor appointment. So the result of that breathing test is early emphysema.
514349 tn?1272801633 I have other sleep problems, but I have not yet had to go to a CPAP. I understand if I wish to go to a CPAP my doctor requires I do another overnight in hospital (or other sleep study center) CPAP test to determine the best "settings" for me. So far I am CPAP free.
Avatar f tn It is difficult to say as to how many days you require to get used to the CPAP machine without any difficulties, could be even just a couple of days. You can feel the sleep changes by time as your sleep and daily routine activities improves. Avatar f tn m getting ready to move this week and I went to the new place to clean and get it ready. The kitchen was disgusting. I used a cleaner that I have used in the past and opened the doors and windows before I started. I ended up with a raging headache anyways. Before I was pregnant I never had an issue with cleaners! I decided to open the doors and stuff because I'm sure the fumes aren't good for the bean. Getting a headache from it was a switch for me.
Avatar n tn I have sleep apnea and was using the cpap machine but used it only once cause i could not at all sleep with a mask on my mouth and I could not aford to pay for it. So I returned it ,but now i cant sleep and during the day at abut after 12 noon i feel really tires and headaches and very sleepy . So i take caffine pills everyday to stay awake. I know taking pills is no the answer and I should be using the machine. My question is is there any other way to cure my problem with out the machine.
636388 tn?1222997748 My DH and I are interested in using cloth diapers- or at least trying them (environmental and financial benefits) for a bit- we never used them before with our others, and we can't find the supplies for them in stores? where do you go to find what you need? Like a nappie spraying hose- that hooks to the toilet? DH is trying to go out an look for these things without me (bedrest) but he is having a really tough time... any good sites with supplies?
1032104 tn?1259668303 Could you include CPAP as a treatment? CPAP is so commonly used that it deserves a place. Thanks. Dave.
Avatar m tn i used a cpap for a couple of years now. i'm still tired. plus i have problem when i use it sometimes my head will jerk uncontoled. i still have to much moving around at night, that keeps my wife up to mort999 thanks you.
1307298 tn?1305946851 Reports are that it doesn't work well for mouth breathers or if you have nasal obstructions generally. Some probably can't get used to it - same issue as with CPAP . But it certainly seems worth a try since you don't have the machine with which to deal. If you live in a place where it is available - US, HK, Aussie-NZ, Malaysia - I'd be making a visit to the doctor's office stat. Ask the nurse, assistants as well. Sometimes they give you a clear picture and alternative view.
Avatar f tn Using a mouth piece will not help, unless, you have MILD apnea. It takes awhile to get used to wearing a CPAP mask for some people. I always suggest to my patients that are having a difficult time, to wear it during the day (while watching TV) to help your body get used to it. Give yourself atleast 2 months to get used to it. Don't give up so quickly..It's your health!
Avatar m tn ve lived my life in a state of exhaustion, until use of my cpap machine, and that has often caused very bad seizures. Without my cpap machine, I don't think I'd be here making this post.
525545 tn?1293181194 Typically, companies that provide you with the CPAP machine have a card with a microchip in it that monitors how often the machine is being used, for what period of time, and whether or not it is being properly used (via pressure measurements and recordings).
Avatar n tn A related discussion, <a href="/posts/Sleep-Disorders/puffy-eyelids-with-CPAP/show/2124934">puffy eyelids with CPAP</a> was started.
Avatar f tn At first the machine will make you very tired but after you get used to it it wont bother you and you will be able to get more sleep
Avatar n tn Can CPAP air entering through the nose pass up the tear ducts and exit the lacrimal punctum between the closed eyelids and the cornea/conjunctiva when sleeping? If this is the case, is there risk of long term damage to the lacrymal system and persistent tearing? My mask fits well, and my CPAP pressure is nominal (8.2), but every morning my eyes are invariably red and itchy, and the lids are a bit swollen.
Avatar n tn Thank you a lot for the answer. The CPAP is been used now for 17 days. Doctors said that they will apply the Tracheotomy (temporarily) if my father's respiratory function is not fully improved.
Avatar m tn I noticed I had gained over 6 pounds since starting CPAP. After just one night without the CPAP I dropped 3 pounds, which I believe is all fluids. My question is this: Could CPAP use cause your kidneys not to filter out fluids from your blood? When using CPAP I do not get up during the night to urinate. After one night without using CPAP I did get up to go to the bathroom, my weight dropped by 3 pounds and the pain is greatly reduced.
Avatar m tn I have been on auto cpap treatment for 2 weeks now and my data is good. But i cannot stay on the cpap for a whole night. I just get about 4 to 5 hours a night on it. Very difficult to get used to the mask but i am hanging in there and i am determined. I am trying to get better sleep habits.
