Common Questions and Answers about Cpap supplies humidifiers

cpap

Avatar f tn My friend's company replaces his CPAP supplies whenever he asks. They give you instructions on how to keep it clean. Obviously nobody wants to do it, but there are consequences. Otherwise they would let you do it the easy way. Now you have unexplained lung nodules, so you will have to get a biopsy to find out what is going on. Nobody here can help you.
Avatar n tn I have had Excessive Daytime Sleepiness for as long as I can remember and was diagnosed with Central Sleep Apnea a few years ago. I tried the CPAP and it only made it worse because I would wake up fighting for breath against it. I can't afford the demand only CPAP because I have a high deductible.
Avatar f tn A friend highly recommended a Vicks humidifier (best investment they made apparently) I just wondered if humidifiers are any good and the benefits they provide.
961503 tn?1247059639 Go back to whoever you get your cpap supplies from and ask about a full face mask. The chin strap did not work for me....... I had to get the mask that covers both nose and mouth. Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn Pressure support ventilation, where air under gentle pressure is passed into the airways keeping it patent. A CPAP delivers continuous pressure for both inhaling and exhaling. As this supplies continuous amount of air pressure the person has to exhale against this extra pressure. This makes it imperfect or unsuitable for certain people, such as those who are suffering from neuromuscular diseases.
Avatar f tn ve found that using a fully data capable CPAP, one that allows ME to access my therapy data each morning encourages me to continue w/CPAP therapy even when I am having difficulties as the data helps to point out what the difficulties are - most often just too high a leak rate. I've used and been happiest w/the Resmed S8 Elite, then the Resmed S8 AutoSet Vantage and then the Resmed S8 VPAP Auto when I needed to be switched to a bi-level PAP due to my COPD.
Avatar f tn We have an indoor wood stove. And we had it last year also. But this year it seems to bother me so much. I have gotten one really bad sinus infection because it was so dry in our house. And I finally got that taken care of. And I also bought humidifiers. Well now I'm getting this irritating cough. It drives me nuts. And my eyes burn sometimes. I am the only one that it seems to bother. Does anyone else have this issue.
Avatar f tn Please please please do NOT drink distilled water! It is meant to go into machines like humidifiers and such. A quick google search will show you the effects of drinking it. Please be careful! A happy, healthy pregnancy to all!
Avatar m tn I compared different brands of digital humidifiers you can find that study and download it by using this link http://docdro.

94902 tn?1330479667 I want to run by Target on the way home and pick up one of those adorable crane Elephant humidifiers (they come in other animals too! have you seen them!? cute cute) and some saline. I just sent an e-mail to DH asking him to take Jack's temperature, but haven't heard back yet. Sigh. Any tips would be appreciated!! I guess it's that season!!

332074 tn?1229560525 I know that they are going to put me on a cpap machine. I know I would do okay with the mask that is just the two little prongs that go in your nose. However in the past when I have had surgery I have gone crazy when they have put the mask over my mouth and nose. I have always had very bad allergies and can not stand to have anything touching my nose and mouth. So I was wondering how do they determine what is the best mask for you to have?
Avatar n tn My wife uses a cpap machine with moisture every night. She has had two bouts with pneumonia this winter which she never had before using the cpap machine. Questions: Can breathing in excess moist air into the lungs by means of the cpap machine overload the lungs with moisture and cause problems?
Avatar f tn Shhhhhhh - your brain and body are listening. Give yourself some positive self talk, such as... I can do ANYTHING for just 30 days. Sleeping in my own home and bed will be nothing like in that lab. I'm going to take advantage of this change to get 30 days of real quality sleep. I'm glad that CPAP increases my likelihood of a good surgical outcome and recovery. I'm glad the next 30 days I will be at reduced risk of heart attack and stroke.
Avatar n tn since using cpap machine started swelling in feet, ankles, hands and stomach. stopped using machine for 4 days swelling went away. started using again for 3 days swelling came back.
Avatar f tn My OB says Mucinex (the regular kind, not DM or anything) is okay, but a lot of women try to tough it out with honey and humidifiers. Sorry you're feeling so bad, being pregnant and sick is not fun.
Avatar m tn ve lived my life in a state of exhaustion, until use of my cpap machine, and that has often caused very bad seizures. Without my cpap machine, I don't think I'd be here making this post.
Avatar m tn I noticed I had gained over 6 pounds since starting CPAP. After just one night without the CPAP I dropped 3 pounds, which I believe is all fluids. My question is this: Could CPAP use cause your kidneys not to filter out fluids from your blood? When using CPAP I do not get up during the night to urinate. After one night without using CPAP I did get up to go to the bathroom, my weight dropped by 3 pounds and the pain is greatly reduced.
312330 tn?1245176752 Well...after successfully avoiding the cold/flu that's been going around for my entire month long class...it's here and has hit with a vengence. The hardest part for me is having asthma that has yet to be gotten fullen under control...and it seems when the upper resp. stuff comes around, my asthma flares quickly. I've been looking into vaporizers and humidifiers to see which would be beneficial, if at all.
1179627 tn?1263936593 Sinusitis is usually bacterial infection and treatment is mainly with antibiotics, decongestants, nasal sprays, humidifiers, expectorants etc. Nausea is a common side effect to use of antibiotics, but subsides with further use. Culture of discharge can determine the organism causing this infection and assistance in choice of antibiotics for this. Best.
Avatar n tn I have been using a CPAP machine for almost 3 months. From the night I used it I did not wake to go to the bathroom during the night. Although this was nice, I developed a problem immediately (from the first night) with swelling in my legs (calves, ankles, feet) and in my hands. I did NOT mention it to the sleep doctor because It was a month until my follow-up appointment and I never saw it listed as a side effect of CPAP therapy in materials I read.
Avatar f tn I had to discontinue using my cpap, due to chronic lung infections. Changing the tubing, keeping it spotless, did not help prevent infection for me. Stopping the cpap treatment, is the only thing that prevented the chronic lung infections...and I always used the humitifer, which never helped prevent any infection... I regret ever having the sleep study and I regret what all the money and time it cost me, and the suffering of 3 years of lung infections...I am so done using the cpap treatment!
