Avatar m tn I read an article in the San Francisco Chronicle about treatments for snoring and sleep apnea and I watched the snoring clinic's testimonials on YouTube as well (just search for the clinic's name). Hopefully that will help with your decision. The article is entitled, "Say Goodnight to Snoring with simple surgeries," . It goes in depth about some of the treatments now available in San Francisco medical clinic, http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?
Avatar n tn My husband is 39, and was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 35. He is not overweight, in fact, he was always slender but lost even more weight after getting diabetes, so he's very slim. He snores so heavily, we hardly ever sleep in the same room anymore, because I just can't take it. He stops breathing quite often, and "jerks" awake with a loud snore frequently. He also drinks and smokes, although he has cut down, his snoring is worse after he's had alcohol.
Avatar f tn Hi you can try a snoring mouth guard as an alternative to CPAP. This is what my husband and I are both using for our sleep apnea (throat airway obstruction) http://slumberguard.com.
559187 tn?1330782856 I recall while in the hospital the nurses doing their rounds mentioned my snoring and were concerned that I was having apnea. The nurse suggested that I use oxygen. They put me on 2 L at night. The respiratory therapist came in one day noticed I had the oxygen set up and asked why they were giving it to me. I told her that it was for apnea. I was told that that was the wrong thing to do.

Avatar m tn I am a 42 year old male who was just diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea with snoring but is intolerant of the CPAP. I am currently using an oral devise which forces my forward. I would like to to know if sleep apnea directly related to heart disease can it be reversed with the start of a CPAP or an oral devise?
1287461 tn?1312430577 I’m having surgery tomorrow and i use a CPAP, will the nurses work with me to find a way to use my mask that won’t put too much pressure on the incision?
9070037 tn?1414632966 I Have been feeling very dizzy, waking up several times at night to the bathroom. Snoring very loud and feeling so sleepy in the afternoon, and while driving too! I dont know if I should use again the CPAP machine or not. If I do use it would this affect the baby?
Avatar m tn It could also indicate obstructive sleep apnea, diagnosed by a sleep test and treated by CPAP. For snoring you should avoid taking alcohol and try to sleep on your side as this keeps the airways patent. If any nasal blocks try to keep them patent with OTC nasal decongestants. Aim for optimum weight with exercises or long walks. If this does help with your symptoms check with your doctor to rule out obstructive sleep apnea. Regards.
783663 tn?1236200728 Some common ways to try to help snoring are avoiding back sleeping and elevating the head of the bed, although these measures won't likely stop snoring in a person whose is "hard and loud'. There are oral devices and/or surgeries that sometimes help some - no guarantees and the success rates can be a deterrent. Snoring can cause frequent sleep stage disruptions that the sleeper is usually unaware of, and can result in the same symptoms as being sleep deprived.
Avatar m tn Having open nasal passageways is important if you want to eventually benefit from sleep apnea treatment options, especially with CPAP. Once your nose is open, give CPAP another try. There are many ways of gradually adjusting to using CPAP. Another option is to use a formal mandibular advancement device that's made by dentists (not the boil and bite over the counter anti-snoring models), but you have to have the right anatomy and severe sleep apnea patients don't respond as well.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with moderate sleep apnoea and im waiting on another consultation to get CPAP machine in the new year. I snore all night and can get very loud and im have dry mouth. Is there a way of stopping snoring before i get the trial of machine.
Avatar f tn My bf has a serious problem with snoring because he is overweight and has sleep apnea.. he has gotten sleep studies done and has a cpap machne to help with his snoring. Anyways im forced to sleep on the couch almost every night because he doesnt want to wear the mask... well then WTF did u get the machine for?
Avatar n tn Hi Dental devices are used as an option for obstructive sleep apnea patients who cannot tolerate CPAP. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommends dental devices for patients with mild-to-moderate obstructive sleep apnea for whom the CPAP is not suitable or those who have failed on the CPAP machine. The two common types of devices are the Mandibular advancement/ Mandibular Repositioning Device and the Tongue retaining device.
Avatar f tn My husband snores like a freakin bear unless he sleeps on his stomach, and even then sometimes he still does. He has no idea he's doing it. When I am in bed with him I ask him to turn over and it usually stops or gets better, but I am concerned about when the baby comes. This is our first and he will be sleeping in our room for at least 6 months or so. I will be off work 6-12 weeks, but once I go back, I work nights...3 in a row then 4 days off.
Avatar f tn Now that he has his CPAP machine and wears it all the time. No more snoring at least not until it is time to change mask out.
Avatar m tn I have also started snoring (quite loudly) something that I never used to do. I am also continually tired lately.. Within the past few days, I have developed a tingling sensation in my left foot/toes. I know feel it ocassionally in my left hand/fingers. I am concerned that I there might be an issue with my heart. I do have mitrol valve prolapse, but have never experienced all of these symptoms before. Any ideas what might be casuing all these symptoms?
Avatar f tn daytime sleepiness no matter how many hours spent sleeping, headaches (usually in the morning and at night), snoring, acid reflux/heartburn, tossing and turning all night, jerking yourself awake or waking yourself up by snoring too deeply, stopping breathing during sleep, gasping during sleep, sour taste in your mouth, leg swelling, getting up at night a lot to pee, and sweating excessively during sleep.
Avatar m tn I have not been diagnosed with sleep apnea but have all the symptoms, loud snoring, snorts that awaken me as well as endless fatigue. Since the accident I find myself even more tired and sleep more disturbed which concerns me. Any medical advice would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn It really should be working. My husband has a CPAP machine so I can sympathise how awful snoring can be! I swear I almost smothered him one night, I couldn't take it anymore! I also used Quies ear plugs. They're really good!
Avatar f tn My husband and I sleep in separate rooms because of my snoring. In fact he can hear it from one end of the house to the other with the bedroom door closed. It wakes me during the night, so even if I can sleep through the pain, I can't sleep through the snoring. Has anyone found something that gives relief to this annoying symptom?
Avatar f tn Does your bed partner report any snoring from you? You could have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Google it for more info.
