Avatar m tn I am holding my breath while sleeping, I have sleep apnea issues and i am on CPAP. I tend to hold my breath with or without CPAP and noticed when i wake up after a couple of hours blood circulation to my body parts is affected and it takes a couple of minutes to come back to normal. I feel very scared with this situation. Please advice.
222135 tn?1236488221 Any one use a CPAP or BiPAP? Can you tell me how long it took you to get used to sleeping with it? Do you really feel better? Waiting to get mine and not too thrilled about it. I hated it when I had to do the titration stay for CPAP. Really did not like the way it felt. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn I believe these 4 thing are somehow interrelated The sleep disorder place has ordered a cpap continuos positive air pressure pump with a mask. Hopefully this will solve the sleep aphnea. Re: post nasal drip: The allergist gave me 2 samples, both of them are mists. I have taken first one and then the other for 6 days now and I can not see any improvement. .Th allergist wants to put me on a long program of shots, probably years.
20003388 tn?1515166040 Hello everyone. So, for years now I have suffered from extreme fatigue and brain fog/memory issues. I had my testosterone and thyroid checked, both were low. I on now on thyroid meds and testosterone replacement but it hasn't made a dent in my fatigue and brain fog despite my levels being optimal now. I do have sleep apnea and use a CPAP at night but my numbers there are also optimal. Caffeine, and most stimulants, make the fatigue worse.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea waking 23 times per hour. I've since lost somewhere around 35-40 pounds. I believe I still have apnea, but not as severe. I was completely unable to handle cpap as it induced vertigo (a problem which I have intermittently), and sharp pains in my ears. I worked with the doctor and even on the lowest settings I had problems. I tried an oral device, but I have severe TMJ and it was too painful.
Avatar n tn In getting both left and right knee replacements, is there a difference in the replacement parts, left vs right? In other words, can 100% identical replacement parts be used for both left and right knees?
Avatar f tn I borrowed one from a friend with my last baby. But I don't think I could use a strangers even if I sanitized it. There is an ick factor to me even though it's probably all in my head.
Avatar m tn I seem to have developed an alergic reaction to my cpap mask. I have little red bumps on the right side of my face only in areas where the mask hits my face, ie. the silicone seal. What can I do to avoid this other than obviously not use the mask? Are my symptoms consistent with a mask alergy? My Dr. says its an alergic reaction and said to get a non alergenic mask.. I don't know where. The bumps are ITCHY and tend to be in tight little circles, some what like acne.
Avatar n tn Honestly, I have not talked to anyone who had 2 hips replaced at once, but can see why you would be concerned about the differences it will present. Have you posed this question to your doctor? You might post this question in the ask-a-doctor forum on the right side of the forums page.

Avatar f tn Is it synvisc your referring to? I know it's injected into the patella area to put off TKRs. I would go to their website to get facts about the product. It might be worth a try to prolong the replacement. It's been around for years now. Good luck!
712042 tn?1254569209 I'm looking for pearls of wisdom, advice and general 'user' comments on CPAP.I'm newly diagnosed with sleep apnea, and more importantly long and frequent episodes of decreased oxygen due to airway obstruction. I didn't know I had an apnea problem. I am now on day 11 of CPAP use at pre-set minimum of 5 lbs pressure which auto adjusts higher as needed. And nothing goes with this new sleep outfit! Any thoughts? Joan.
Avatar f tn Back in 1973 & 1974, at age 19, I had both kneecaps removed due to Chondromalacia Patella. I wasn't given replacement parts. Now as a 62 female, I find myself walking with a cane and my left knee is extremely painful. I consulted with 2 orthopedic MDs. The first one wanted to do joint replacement surgery. The second one said I am not a candidate for joint replacement surgery since I don't have kneecaps. He prescribed diclofenac potassium for the pain.
Avatar m tn Just sleep hygiene measures may not help, you may have to use the CPAP machine. CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) is the therapy for obstructive sleep apnea as it helps to keep the airways patent. Under therapy you can carry on with your normal work and driving also. Only go for regular follow ups with your doctor to check to see if the apneas are under control and if your sleep is adequate. Ensure to use the CPAP machine regularly. Hope This Helped and Do Keep Us Posted.
Avatar f tn //orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=A00360 I think I would contact my surgeon if I were you and get this taken care of. If the prosthesis is loose that is not good.
Avatar f tn Replacement parts are really hard to find. It's not like Madela or Hygeia that have replacement parts readily available. Your evenflo goes down...you might be screwed and have to buy an entirely new system.
Avatar f tn i had hip replacement ( with titanium) and now have problems with both hands. not the palms, just the upper parts and between the fingers. could this be from titanium toxicity?
Avatar f tn It has been two years since I have had a total left knee replacement . I still have stiffness in my knee and I can not bend it more than a 90 degree angle. I swim, walk, take yoga classes & constantly try to stretch it -- but nothing happens. Is there anything I can do for this ?

332074 tn?1229560525 I know that they are going to put me on a cpap machine. I know I would do okay with the mask that is just the two little prongs that go in your nose. However in the past when I have had surgery I have gone crazy when they have put the mask over my mouth and nose. I have always had very bad allergies and can not stand to have anything touching my nose and mouth. So I was wondering how do they determine what is the best mask for you to have?
Avatar n tn My wife uses a cpap machine with moisture every night. She has had two bouts with pneumonia this winter which she never had before using the cpap machine. Questions: Can breathing in excess moist air into the lungs by means of the cpap machine overload the lungs with moisture and cause problems?
Avatar f tn Shhhhhhh - your brain and body are listening. Give yourself some positive self talk, such as... I can do ANYTHING for just 30 days. Sleeping in my own home and bed will be nothing like in that lab. I'm going to take advantage of this change to get 30 days of real quality sleep. I'm glad that CPAP increases my likelihood of a good surgical outcome and recovery. I'm glad the next 30 days I will be at reduced risk of heart attack and stroke.
Avatar m tn In 2003, I experienced an infected inside of my collar bone which ultimately resulted in surgery to remove most of my collar bone, part of my sternum, and parts of the first and second ribs. A plastic surgeon then took the pectoral muscle and folded it up to rejoin at the shoulder in order to cover/protect the area where the bones were. I have full range of motion of my arm, but understandably severely reduced strength due to the position that the muscle is now in.
