439553 tn?1210776816 Will i more than likely get a CPAP mask to help me sleep? Has anyone else had this same thing happen to them? What do you think the possible treatment will be? i am just tired of being tired all the time. i want a normal life back!
Avatar n tn Can breathing in excess moist air into the lungs by means of the cpap machine overload the lungs with moisture and cause problems?
Avatar m tn Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions Dr Hagan. I appreciate it. I use Refresh PM gel to control that dryness from my CPAP.
Avatar m tn I noticed I had gained over 6 pounds since starting CPAP. After just one night without the CPAP I dropped 3 pounds, which I believe is all fluids. My question is this: Could CPAP use cause your kidneys not to filter out fluids from your blood? When using CPAP I do not get up during the night to urinate. After one night without using CPAP I did get up to go to the bathroom, my weight dropped by 3 pounds and the pain is greatly reduced.
Avatar n tn Check out the message boards on these 2 websites for CPAP related questions. The boards here are very active. I think I've read this problem on those boards before. www.cpaptalk.com www.apneasupport.
679466 tn?1247006054 I have mild obstructive sleep apnea. PO2 only drops into mid 80's sometimes, mostly low 90's, but overnight polysomnogram says I have 13 apneic events per hour. I've tried O2 overnight (used neighbor's) and PO2 stays in the high 90's. Is that a sufficient treatment?... or do I need the positive pressure of CPAP. I've tried the CPAP and I've completely failed. Mostly keeps me from sleeping well unless I'm on Ambien.
Avatar m tn So, I use a CPAP & a few weeks ago I must have fallen asleep while driving as I lost about 15 seconds while driving. A week after that something similiar happened. Then a few days after that I lost a period of time on the table saw & ground up my thumb. I will be doing a home study in a few days with a different machine...Thoughts?
Avatar m tn m sure you will get all kinds of answers but this sounds familiar to me. If you have other questions feel free to ask.
Avatar n tn I see theres alot of people with this problem but no answers i have seen several doctors and none of them have heard of this. I thought it came from my cpap machine it started back in dec of 07 i woke up one night and had this pressure but at that time i also had a burning so i no longer use my cpap because of this.
Avatar m tn I am Garth Howell, live in the UK and am a OSA sufferer and am on CPAP treatment. Becoming aware of how under diagnosed sleep apnea is and how dangerous the condition is I decided to write a book about and have published it as an Amazon Kindle book and a paperback via Amazon Createspace and it is titled All you need to know.... about Sleep Apnea by Garth Howell and can be viewed on Amazon by going to the Kindle store and selecting Garth Howell.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Is CPAP the mask worn at night, supposedly while asleep, that provides a slight increase in air pressure? I recall my brother-in-law using an air pump for sleeping - but he suffers from emphysema - not sleep apnea. was your apnea determined by a sleep study done in a clinic? I am thinking about buying a oxygen saturation tester, the type that clamps on the finger, to record my O2 levels during the night.
Avatar n tn I have sleep apnea and was using the cpap machine but used it only once cause i could not at all sleep with a mask on my mouth and I could not aford to pay for it. So I returned it ,but now i cant sleep and during the day at abut after 12 noon i feel really tires and headaches and very sleepy . So i take caffine pills everyday to stay awake. I know taking pills is no the answer and I should be using the machine. My question is is there any other way to cure my problem with out the machine.
559187 tn?1330782856 The MS Consortium group also had a piece on MS and sleep at their conveniton - you can read the powerpoint at http://www.mscare.org/cmsc/images/pdf/2010CMSc_W9_Brandes_Heyman_SleepDisorders.pdf Dr. Park on the sleep forum here at Medhelp also is interested in this topic if you have something specific to ask. I would put surgery thoughts on the back burner for a while - you have been through enough!
1302038 tn?1439575232 Can you call your sleep clinic for a temporary loaner cpap - this is what I did while waiting for my cpap. Also, try to sleep with your head elevated, head and chin pointed back kind of in a cpr position - thereby opening your airway while your sleep. Also make sure you don't eat anything 3-4 before bedtime.
Avatar f tn Yes, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea earlier this year. They were surprised. They said I did not have the "throat" of a sleep apnea person, I'm thin, non-smoker, no drugs, don't snore, don't sleep with my mouth open etc. They thought it was just narcolepsy but did the 2 sleep studies and said sleep apnea in addition. I have no obstructive, no central, no hypopnea's but had quite a bit RERA's (respiratory effected related arousals).
107693 tn?1252864443 I am having a hard time gettting use to the CPAP. I asked for the nose pillow when i got the results, thinking that i would like it better, It has been two weeks so i asked for the small mask. I was also told that i need to use CPAP with the water. When i wake up I find the need to take it off, then when i go to put it back I get very anxious, palpitations or it feels that my heart is racing. So i sleep without it. I have thyrothis with six nodules. had a FNA results were negative.
Avatar m tn Now I am left with stuffiness and a sweet smell in my sinuses. I do use CPAP at nite with a humidifier. I keep it clean but am wondering if I could have Pseudomonas in my sinus. My drainage is clear.
Avatar f tn I am 64 with copd and sleep apnea also. I use a cpap at night with 2 liters oxygen. I use several inhalers. The cpap is designed to push the air in your lungs to keep you from dieing when you stop breathing in your sleep. It also makes your lungs stronger because it forces them to work on a deeper level. How long have you been using a cpap? Do you get along with it ok? I have had mine since November.
Avatar m tn Do UARS patients with nasal blockage find CPAP, BIPAP, or VPAP more comfortable (in general)? Are there any other tests I should be asking for? Thanks, C.
1311475 tn?1274198780 I was looking over some of the questions that are here and there are a lot of them that pertain to my situation, but I thought that these questions were answered by doctors, and then found to ask one of those questions, you have to pay $15. I am looking for the answers to some of these questions but where do I find them, I need answers.
Avatar m tn His only medical history up to that point was that he developed migraine headaches a couple of years before the strokes, a history of peptic ulcer disease, and sleep apnea. He was using CPAP prior to the strokes without a problem. Since the strokes, the migraines are almost a daily occurrence (although he does take propranolol as a preventative med for them), he cannot tolerate the CPAP( we have had additional sleep studies and made changes to the CPAP without any improvement).
