Cpap pillow tubing

Common Questions and Answers about Cpap pillow tubing

cpap

Avatar m tn I have used a cpap for 10 months. My most prevalent problem is that the exterior of my nose tickles as though a feather is being brushed against it. I use a full face mask most of the time. I have tried applying Vaseline and various other moisturizers to no avail. The only thing that has seemed to help to a limited degree is "AquaPhor" daubed on my nose, not rubbed on.
Avatar f tn The allergens can be from the CPAP machine. The filters and the tubing needs to cleaned regularly, it could harbor dust mites and sometimes fungal spores. Have this checked out. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar f tn He is not a smoker, but he has used the cpap for several years now. Could not changing his tubing and mask cause an infection in his lungs that could cause him to have these problems? (it has been a long time since he changed his tubing and we are remedying that today) Around July of this year he started noticing a heaviness in his chest and it got bad enough that he had me make him a doctor appointment. So the result of that breathing test is early emphysema.
1173253 tn?1263496613 Could I be allergic to the CPAP, or the dirt or germs in the tubing, or to the air that is sucked in thru the CPAP? No matter how good I feel in the day.....I get worse at night? Help Please.
Avatar f tn Hi Meagher sorry you are having problem with your CPAP the only thing i may suggest is another type of mask i dout if the CPAP machine would send out any toxic air what i my suggest is run the CPAP for a while please let me know how you get on........
Avatar m tn I am a 46 year old male and have sleep apnea. I use a CPAP with a high setting (15). I have a mask that covers nose only because the full face mask was a bit claustrophobic. I have noticed that I am waking in the middle of the night and morning with a mouth that is so dry I cannot swallow...teeth and tongue really dry. I am definitely still mouth breathing, even with the CPAP. I also noticed over the last week that my tongue is yellowish (related?).
Avatar n tn Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions. We did the bleach thing with the CPAP and he has new tubing and mask. He sees the FNP again today. He may just take longer to shake this.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Ok - so I went for the follow up appointment at the sleep apnea clinc and they have given me a humidifier for the Cpap machine, so hopefully this will reduce the dryness. They also read the SD card which had been recording the pressures that I had required over the last 3 weeks. They were quite suprised at how high they were. But also found that the machine was set up for a nasal mask not a face mask.
Avatar n tn I am a new CPAP machine user. I have a humidifier on my machine. I am doing very well after only one week with the air pressure but I awake a couple of times each night because the steam condenses in the hose and water drips in my nose! So I have to get up and empty water out of the hose and back into the humidifier. My throat gets really dry without the humidifier. Also, my headgear slips off. So I think I need a different one. Any suggestions for either issue? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I would suggest seeing an oculoplastic surgeon to examine the lower segment of the tear duct opening (valve of hasner) to see if there is a problem there. I am not an expert on CPAP tubing but I have had seveeral patients with this problem solve it by going to micro/mini masks. Its a common problem. Disucss it with your pulmonary MD also. Find a oculplastic surgeon at www.aao.
Avatar n tn I have been on cpap for 2 weeks now, I have had 4 different masks. I can fall asleep now no problem, but am waking up during the night and taking my mask off. It is getting very frustrating as I thought that this was a magical cure for tiredness but am getting so put off over the whole thing I feel like just giving up, have others had the same type of feeling?
5054005 tn?1362922551 It takes a while to find a mask or nasal pillows that work for you. You just have to keep trying. I made several appointlements with my Durable Medical Equipment provider to go there, and try on a couple of masks before selecting one and trying it. After 8 years, I'm about to start my third nasal pillow, the Philips DreamWear. With this one, I was a 5 month beta tester some time ago, so I have prior experience using it.
Avatar m tn I use a CPAP machine, with a nasal mask setting is 15. I do believe it makes me sleep better. However it causes serious gas especially in the morning. I know others have reported this problem but have yet to see a good answer.
1054090 tn?1343965695 If you do have sleep apnea, the treatment is that you will sleep with a CPAP machine. It stands for Continuos Positive Air Pressure. You wear a mask that blows air down your passages to keep them from closing when you sleep. Cause when they close is when you stop breathing. Id it is determined you have sleep apnea it is vital that you wear the cpap eveytime!! You can die from sleep apnea just as easily as a baby can die from sids.
107693 tn?1252864443 I am having a hard time gettting use to the CPAP. I asked for the nose pillow when i got the results, thinking that i would like it better, It has been two weeks so i asked for the small mask. I was also told that i need to use CPAP with the water. When i wake up I find the need to take it off, then when i go to put it back I get very anxious, palpitations or it feels that my heart is racing. So i sleep without it. I have thyrothis with six nodules. had a FNA results were negative.
287996 tn?1312023682 Hey chevy man. I've seen you around here for a long time. How about more details on the elevated pulse. How fast is it? and When does it occur? I too wear CPAP. I've used it for the last 6 years now, and it no doubt has saved me from an early, painful demise as I had very severe obstructive sleep apnea. Prior ro getting on it, I had been waking up with a pounding pulse in the middle of the night. It wasn't SVT (which I had), but an elevated and pounding pulse.
Avatar n tn I have sleep apnea and was using the cpap machine but used it only once cause i could not at all sleep with a mask on my mouth and I could not aford to pay for it. So I returned it ,but now i cant sleep and during the day at abut after 12 noon i feel really tires and headaches and very sleepy . So i take caffine pills everyday to stay awake. I know taking pills is no the answer and I should be using the machine. My question is is there any other way to cure my problem with out the machine.
Avatar f tn Did you try the nasal pillow or nasal cannula? The nasal pillow goes over your entire nose and the cannula goes right up into your nostrils.
Avatar f tn Hi you are not alone i to have Sleep Apnea i also on a CPAP machine are you , I think i am the opposite to you i cannot sleep without medication never mind can't have it all nice, please feel free to drop me a note if you like once again you are not alone.........
Avatar m tn The reason i ask is because i dread sleeping now. I inevitably wake up totally blind or fuzzy in whichever side i'm sleeping on. I realize it's the pressure i'm putting on my eyes sleeping on my stomach into the pillow, i'm not totally ignorant. But i can't control the way i toss and turn at night having sleep apnea, and a very severe form of panic/anxiety attacks lately does not make sleeping a joy as it should. I actually dread waking up in the morning because of it.
Avatar m tn I have been using CPAP machine for over a yr. now and I have seen no improvement in my sleep. I use the nose pillow mask because of me being a side sleeper but I find me waking up with my mouth open and sometimes there is drool. Should I try a full mask to see if that would be any better for me?
