Common Questions and Answers about Cpap pillow hypoallergenic

cpap

Avatar n tn I have been on cpap for 2 weeks now, I have had 4 different masks. I can fall asleep now no problem, but am waking up during the night and taking my mask off. It is getting very frustrating as I thought that this was a magical cure for tiredness but am getting so put off over the whole thing I feel like just giving up, have others had the same type of feeling?
5054005 tn?1362922551 It takes a while to find a mask or nasal pillows that work for you. You just have to keep trying. I made several appointlements with my Durable Medical Equipment provider to go there, and try on a couple of masks before selecting one and trying it. After 8 years, I'm about to start my third nasal pillow, the Philips DreamWear. With this one, I was a 5 month beta tester some time ago, so I have prior experience using it.
Avatar m tn I use a CPAP machine, with a nasal mask setting is 15. I do believe it makes me sleep better. However it causes serious gas especially in the morning. I know others have reported this problem but have yet to see a good answer.
Avatar f tn You should look into a hypoallergenic pillow case and wash the walls with vinegar it works wonders!
1054090 tn?1343965695 If you do have sleep apnea, the treatment is that you will sleep with a CPAP machine. It stands for Continuos Positive Air Pressure. You wear a mask that blows air down your passages to keep them from closing when you sleep. Cause when they close is when you stop breathing. Id it is determined you have sleep apnea it is vital that you wear the cpap eveytime!! You can die from sleep apnea just as easily as a baby can die from sids.
107693 tn?1252864443 I am having a hard time gettting use to the CPAP. I asked for the nose pillow when i got the results, thinking that i would like it better, It has been two weeks so i asked for the small mask. I was also told that i need to use CPAP with the water. When i wake up I find the need to take it off, then when i go to put it back I get very anxious, palpitations or it feels that my heart is racing. So i sleep without it. I have thyrothis with six nodules. had a FNA results were negative.
287996 tn?1312023682 Hey chevy man. I've seen you around here for a long time. How about more details on the elevated pulse. How fast is it? and When does it occur? I too wear CPAP. I've used it for the last 6 years now, and it no doubt has saved me from an early, painful demise as I had very severe obstructive sleep apnea. Prior ro getting on it, I had been waking up with a pounding pulse in the middle of the night. It wasn't SVT (which I had), but an elevated and pounding pulse.
Avatar n tn I have sleep apnea and was using the cpap machine but used it only once cause i could not at all sleep with a mask on my mouth and I could not aford to pay for it. So I returned it ,but now i cant sleep and during the day at abut after 12 noon i feel really tires and headaches and very sleepy . So i take caffine pills everyday to stay awake. I know taking pills is no the answer and I should be using the machine. My question is is there any other way to cure my problem with out the machine.
Avatar n tn //health.clevelandclinic.org/do-hypoallergenic-pillow-and-mattress-covers-really-work/ https://learn.allergyandair.com/hypoallergenic-mattress-covers/ If you just use your regular vac on it a couple times over, then put your mattress in an allergy cover, you should be good to go. You can remove the allergy cover for washing, which is a lot easier than trying to clean the mattress. You can get a decent allergy cover for under $50 USD, depending on the size of the bed.
Avatar f tn None of these should be very expensive - allergy covers for pillows go for about $10 in the US. You can get a hypoallergenic pillow for under $20, etc. At least cover the pillow your head rests on. You don't necessarily have to do all the pillows on your bed. Get an air purifier for your house, or at least your bedroom. You can buy a mold testing kit at a hardware store or amazon for less than $50. This is an article on Amazon about mold testing - http://bit.
Avatar f tn Did you try the nasal pillow or nasal cannula? The nasal pillow goes over your entire nose and the cannula goes right up into your nostrils.
Avatar f tn Hi you are not alone i to have Sleep Apnea i also on a CPAP machine are you , I think i am the opposite to you i cannot sleep without medication never mind can't have it all nice, please feel free to drop me a note if you like once again you are not alone.........
Avatar n tn Are there hypoallergenic contacts?
Avatar m tn The reason i ask is because i dread sleeping now. I inevitably wake up totally blind or fuzzy in whichever side i'm sleeping on. I realize it's the pressure i'm putting on my eyes sleeping on my stomach into the pillow, i'm not totally ignorant. But i can't control the way i toss and turn at night having sleep apnea, and a very severe form of panic/anxiety attacks lately does not make sleeping a joy as it should. I actually dread waking up in the morning because of it.
Avatar m tn I have been using CPAP machine for over a yr. now and I have seen no improvement in my sleep. I use the nose pillow mask because of me being a side sleeper but I find me waking up with my mouth open and sometimes there is drool. Should I try a full mask to see if that would be any better for me?
1054665 tn?1305508455 Have Herpes of the mouth, and awhile back had a pretty bad break out, it spread to the inside of my nose. Now there seems to be a scar there, it hurts me whenever its touched inside and or out. I have sleep apnea, and sleep with a cpap, the kind that shouldn't hurt the nostril pillow. However this does hurt me, even the air hurts. Is there anything I can do? Is it best if I try an on the nose mask?
620048 tn?1358018235 Just wanted to add that my nurse practioner that works with my MS Dr. is going to get me into see one of the pulmonoligists at UCSF ..this makes me happy. There are not many of them around, at least good ones.
Avatar m tn I have used a cpap for 10 months. My most prevalent problem is that the exterior of my nose tickles as though a feather is being brushed against it. I use a full face mask most of the time. I have tried applying Vaseline and various other moisturizers to no avail. The only thing that has seemed to help to a limited degree is "AquaPhor" daubed on my nose, not rubbed on.
Avatar f tn Ive yet to find a PERFECT pillow so what I do is have a thin pillow on bottom then a fluffy pillow under my head then a take a unfolded-blanket (kinda ball the blanket up)an put it toward my chest and wrap my arms around it,i try putting my arms in different positions till i feel right!! I hope you find something that helps!
956292 tn?1334054869 Hi, To answer your question: No I haven't heard of the sleep study for MS. My MS specialist and neurologist KNOW I experience pretty severe fatigue and they never once mentioned to have a sleep study done. (they don't know I had a sleep study or that I use the CPAP) forgot to mention it to them... I had a sleep study done back in April, before my MS symptoms began...(I was dx with asthma.... the pulmonologist asked if I had fatigue or did I snore..
1218873 tn?1300091216 I have a CPAP machine on a months trial, this is one that varies the pressure as required it records the information on to an SD card so when I return to the clinic I will then be given a machine that has the correct fixed pressure. I have a full face mask as I could not get on with the nose only one. Now my problem is I wake in the middle of the night with a very dry mouth (i mean completely dry) my mouth has ballooned with air and the mask is vibrating against my face.
Avatar f tn I changed my pillow protector and I thought my problem was solved but I still wake up with a stuffy nose. Could it be my sleep apnea machine? Or something else? I'm fine once I'm awake and I go downstairs.
Avatar m tn More than likely it is due to bacteria or dust/dustmite buildup in your bedding. I would try a hypoallergenic pillow cover, plus washing your bedding and pillows about once a week. Another thing you could try is taking an antihistimine before you go to bed at night to see if this helps. My mom always said that when my (pardon the graphics here) snot was green I was clean but if it was clear trouble was near.
