Cpap oxygen machine

Common Questions and Answers about Cpap oxygen machine

cpap

1876958 tn?1321567960 I have been diagnosed with fairly serious sleep apnea and have been using a CPAP machine (set to 15 as the pressure) for several weeks. While I have adapted to the machine, and sleep well with it, my headaches have been more intense lately. My understanding is that the CPAP machine will reduce pressure in my brain because my heart does not have to pump so much to circulate oxygen. My blood oxygen level dropped significantly at night (down to 60%) during my sleep study.
Avatar m tn If you wake in the morning with a headaches, it is an indication of low oxygen. You may need an oxygen concentrator which is appliance that plugs into your CPap machine. Good luck and I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Someetimes there are other health issues with the lungs that affect the oxygen levels and require adding oxygen to the cpap if determined there is a need. Sleep apnea certainly can cause daytime fatigue. In many cases, therapeutic cpap treatment restores one to health and vitality. In some, damage can have occured. If any doubt, a cardiac workup wouldn't hurt.
Avatar f tn They want to monitor me for 1 more month, and if it shows that I am still struggeling with shallow breathing, they will send me home with something to hook me up to monitor my oxygen for 1 night. She also said that they may have to switch me from a c-pap machine to a bi-pap machine. What are some causes for shallow breathing?
Avatar n tn Good morning I'm on CPAP machine set at 7.0 an Oxygen set at 2liters my Dr. had me to do a R U Sleep Study at home I don't know the results yet but I wake up during the night feeling like I stopped breathing also I would like to know if sleeping with your mouth open a sign of not getting enough oxygen?
Avatar m tn Hi I know how you feel as I have same problems with my nose getting blocked etc and my mouth goes so dry my tongue sticks to roof of mouth. I told my cpap dr and he suggested I have a humidifier which attaches to cpap machine, I'm also on oxygen. This is my first week with humidifier and I feel so much better, I haven't had a blocked nose all week. Have you tried one of these?
Avatar n tn *on a CPAP machine. Not *in one. Sorry for the typo. You don't go *in a CPAP machine.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea waking 23 times per hour. I've since lost somewhere around 35-40 pounds. I believe I still have apnea, but not as severe. I was completely unable to handle cpap as it induced vertigo (a problem which I have intermittently), and sharp pains in my ears. I worked with the doctor and even on the lowest settings I had problems. I tried an oral device, but I have severe TMJ and it was too painful.
Avatar f tn I am currently on a Cpap machine. My question is, can the Cpap be make my COPD worse? In the time that I am on the machine I feel like my lungs are getting filled with more air. During the day my COPD seems worse. Since I have a problem getting the air out of my lungs anyway, can the machine be making my COPD worse? Thanks for any help you can give me. I am to the point that I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn If you have any indication this could be an issue, maybe you could ask what the cost would be to do a home trial for a couple weeks on an auto titrating cpap machine. It would at least determine if you are having obstructive apneas when you sleep, even though a sleep study would be much more informative and give you a fuller picture of your sleep issues.
Avatar n tn Your problem doesn't have anything to do with oxygen. It's because you stop breathing that you don't get enough room air into your body. Your CPAP machine takes care of these obstructions, and as long as you're using it, you should be fine. It sounds like you may need constant fresh air ventilation.
Avatar f tn My c-pap machine is a REMstarAUTO with A-Flex. It's a very good machine. I took the model with the humidifier because they air in winter is to dry not to have it. My only problem is that I have a nasal mask only and I should have get two! One nasal and a full face for when I have sinus infections (which is often with me!). I tried both but I prefer the nasal one. If you have a the chance ask if you can try diferent kind of mask before you make your choice.
2011793 tn?1328052117 it was determined that my oxygen was in the 85 % range....my question is...what would be better for me to use...a cpap machine or use oxygen...what is the difference & which one would actually give me a better chance of sleeping better. This discussion is related to low oxygen level while sleeping.
Avatar f tn Also, I am having a machine delivered and set up by a tech in 2 days. Which machine is easiest to handle. I have heard horror stories about CPAP. The main problem was the fact that the air is blowing back at your nose when trying to exhale. Can't this be adjusted. Help me to know what to expect and which machine is best.
Avatar n tn Anytime your oxygen drops below 88 it causes brain and nerve damage. So 76 is serious. I use a BIPAP machine, which is a CPAP with oxygen ... it keeps my levels right where they want them...97 for me. I use oxygen 24/7. I'm 53, smoked cigs for 30 years, have been off them for three years. I no longer crave the nasty things. Yes, I think the oxygen at night will help you. That's how I started out, then as I got worse I need it all the time now. Good luck with your breathing.
Avatar n tn I do not understand why someone would still be having symptoms when using the CPAP machine. Isn't that supposed to cure the problem. It seems that the breathing gets worse when using the CPAP machine. I feel like I have been drugged in the morning and it takes 3 to 4 hours to get going. Prior to the sleep study, I felt great! Got up in the AM, lots of energy all day, no sleepliness, none of the symptoms that one may have with apena.
1218873 tn?1300091216 At my clinic appointment the nurse commented that the SD card that records the data showed that the pressures where pretty high. (the machine I have alters the pressureconstantly as required through the night) we thought that it might be due to the fact the machine was drying me out and this would be sorted out by the humidifier.
525545 tn?1293181194 I have been using my CPAP machine for a month now. I thought I was suppose to start feeling better and not as tired. Why do I feel more tired when I wake up? I don't know what to do. Also I am using the sleep nose pillows and I have had a sore under my nose ever since I started using the CPAP what is causing this? I can't use the mask.
Avatar f tn He has sleep apnea and is on CPAP machine at night. Symptoms been in going on over 3 yrs maybe more but more noticeable is his change in mood/attitude/patience and tolerance. complete opposite from what he used to be. Everything gets on his nerves, he yells at us and the dog.. I think something is wrong. I trying to find a way to bring this up with him so he could get checked out.
Avatar m tn I have been using a CPAP machine for about 10 years but have noticed that my use of the machine makes the PVCs noticably worse. They go from one every 10 or 15 minutes to 5 or 6 each minute. I am afraid to go to sleep with it on, and have been sleeping without it. This leaves me sleepy and also aggrivates the PVCs as well, although not as much as using the CPAP does. The PVCs are so bad when I use the machine I am afraid they will turning into something more serious.
Avatar f tn My husband has mild obstructive sleep apnea but he refuses to get the machine that would help him breathe at night. How dangerous is it that he doesn't use one? What are the long term effects of sleep apnea?
