Common Questions and Answers about Cpap order form

cpap

Avatar f tn hazyworld, some are able to effectively treat their apnea with a dental device, but not everyone. Have an honest talk with a reputable provider about your chances of it working for you. They are designed to pull the lower jaw forward, and some complain of pain or have TMJ trouble. But some are willing to do anything to avoid using CPAP. I didn't like CPAP at first either. Are you on oxygen because you aren't using CPAP or with a CPAP?
Avatar m tn In my latest Polygraph ,doctor telling it is a mixed apnea, more on non supine position. Due to narrowness in throat may be hard to use CPAP-pressure from 4 to 12 on auto setting, hypothyroidism also, taking medicine for this 50 mcg synthroid, does severe obs sleep apnea is due to hypothyroid, Canadian doctors are like testing platform only.
Avatar m tn In order for this to take place a sleep study would be required in order to determine how much oxygen you need bled into the cpap system. Need this retest in order for insurance to cover it, and the MD needs the test to write the prescription for oxygen. This is what I'm gathering from the information you gave me, assuming all your cardiac tests checked out.
Avatar n tn I do not understand why someone would still be having symptoms when using the CPAP machine. Isn't that supposed to cure the problem. It seems that the breathing gets worse when using the CPAP machine. I feel like I have been drugged in the morning and it takes 3 to 4 hours to get going. Prior to the sleep study, I felt great! Got up in the AM, lots of energy all day, no sleepliness, none of the symptoms that one may have with apena.
Avatar f tn Paykel all will replace FREE to the local DME provider most any of their masks that a patient has tried and been unsuccessful with IF the DME provider fills out a form and returns mask and form W/IN 30 DAYS. Thus there is ABSOLUTLEY NO EXCUSE for your husband's DME provider to not offer him a lenient mask exchange polilcy to find a comfortable, relatively leak free mask. Far too many local DME providers are NOT lenient w/regard to mask exchanges. 2] PROPER FITTING of the mask is IMPORTANT.
Avatar m tn I am a 32 year old male diagnosed with sleep apnea, so I was given an auto-pressure CPAP machine. Just as soon as I started using the machine it felt like I was struggling to exhale. The sleep company representitive said that the machine starts out using the lowest possible pressure, so I shouldn't be having a problem. I tried to use the machine for a couple of hours and I had the sensation that I had to take off the machine and struggle for breath, as I can't seem to exhale.
Avatar m tn Pretty sure that I need BiPap instead of CPAP. The exhale pressure is too high on CPAP even with the EPR maxed at 3 and a setting of 7cm to 9cm. I've read that someone had anxiety on CPAP and switched to BiPap and it was fine. There are times when I feel so tired that I could faint. Has anyone had any similar crazy symptoms like this?
1307298 tn?1305946851 I'm interested in reading any responses on Provent use. I've read discussions about it on another forum, but not from anyone who had used it. I would want with any treatment to have a sleep study while using it to confirm it is indeed effective. Is there anything in particular about your CPAP giving you a problem, or just in general? I've been using CPAP about 5 years. Can't say I'd never consider another form of treatment, just would have to know for sure it was working.
Avatar n tn Considering your reservations about the surgery, maybe another effort at cpap would be in order. If so, post specifically what your problems are and maybe someone can tell you "how they got over". As for me, I was a cpap quitter, but within months knew I had to do it due to increasing health issues. Took me a long time to be able to say it, but now I can't imagine sleeping without it. It's the best sleep I've had in years. Best wishes whatever you decide.
1767141 tn?1313678474 I forgot to ask: do you have a copy of your equipment order (prescription) for both the CPAP and for the APAP?
Avatar n tn He thinks I am stopping breathing in my sleep therefore my body wakes itself in order to breathe. He mentioned the cpap, that it just makes sure you get constant air while sleeping. That is the limit of my knowledge on this, but I would say if you are not able to breathe, you need to contact your doctor asap and let him know. Hopefully someone will come along with better answers for you.
Avatar m tn You must get a complete blood test in order to negate any vitamin deficiency, especially vitamin B 12. Avoid sleeping on your back, instead rest on sides, that may help with the sleep apnea. Stay hydrated.
Avatar m tn I was completely unable to handle cpap as it induced vertigo (a problem which I have intermittently), and sharp pains in my ears. I worked with the doctor and even on the lowest settings I had problems. I tried an oral device, but I have severe TMJ and it was too painful. I tested for oxygen desaturation this week and it went down to 88%. The doctor is offering me oxygen. I realize this isn't a replacement for cpap, but given my situation, could this be at all helpful?
149675 tn?1416673133 I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and put on a CPAP machine. I have been using it for about 5 days now. I am sleeping OK with it and even think I feel a little clearer in mornings and during the day. My problem is with the mask. After the first day I had painful whiteheads under my nose. I treated them with cream (after they popped) and that is doing a little better. Now the bridge of my nose is very red, a little puffy, and I have 7 small whiteheads there too.
Avatar f tn Hi, from your history it suggests that you are having Sleep-disordered breathing. It is important to rule out type of sleep apnea like Obstructive apnea, Central apnea and Mixed apnea. You need to undergo tests to rule out the type of apnea. Few of the tests include Apnea index, Apnea-hypopnea index, Respiratory disturbance index, Desaturation and Arousal index. It can be initially manged by supplemental oxygen.
Avatar m tn 68 male. Bypass surgery in 1998. No problems from that. Recent stress test (ran treadmill to 142) and ultrasound back with good results. Have Brady cardia (usually around 56-58) I have sleep apena, tried the cpap unit but could not use it. Recently having a lot of PVC's from 32-48 at rest or sleep. I sleep ok from 9 pm until 1 or 2 am. after that I cannot sleep because of breathing problems.
Avatar f tn If that is correct, there is another, seldom considered form of ventilation And, if after much effort you are still unable to use the CPAP, that alternative form of ventilation would be Negative Pressure Ventilation (also called Continuous negative extrathoracic pressure --CNEP). The two main types of negative pressure ventilation are: 1) iron lung ventilators (of the type used decades ago during polio epidemics and, 2) cuirass ventilators.
Avatar n tn There are two possible solutions: move to one of the new mini CPAP masks. Second use Refresh PM ointment in both eyes at bedtime and Refresh or Systane ULTRA artifical tears on awakening.
Avatar m tn Do you have a data capable machine that can confirm your cpap treatment is effective? (If not, you can ask your doc to order your a 2 week trial on one.) If your sleep apnea is much improved but not completely therapeutic, it could cause you to feel disjointed in your thinking. If it were me, I'd first confirm my treatment is working, and if it is, tell the doctor what you said to us and let them do their job and figure it all out. You're not nuts.
1218873 tn?1300091216 I have a CPAP machine on a months trial, this is one that varies the pressure as required it records the information on to an SD card so when I return to the clinic I will then be given a machine that has the correct fixed pressure. I have a full face mask as I could not get on with the nose only one. Now my problem is I wake in the middle of the night with a very dry mouth (i mean completely dry) my mouth has ballooned with air and the mask is vibrating against my face.
Avatar n tn The rules may be different in your state, but in NY, it's perfectly acceptable to request a CPAP prescription from your sleep doctor so you can order it on your own, from where ever you wish.
Avatar f tn Sorry I have no idea what you are referring to, but I do know AFib is a physical problem in the electrical signals in the heart and that can be due to damage form some disease or it can simply be a pre-disposition (inherited) of our birth. AFib is more common with advanced age.
Avatar n tn i just went for my second sleep study to be hooked up to the cpap. the first one said i quit breathing and was breathing very shallow. once i get my new machine how long will it take to be back to 100%. i could tell the morning after that i did feel a little better and did not have a headaache.

332074 tn?1229560525 I know that they are going to put me on a cpap machine. I know I would do okay with the mask that is just the two little prongs that go in your nose. However in the past when I have had surgery I have gone crazy when they have put the mask over my mouth and nose. I have always had very bad allergies and can not stand to have anything touching my nose and mouth. So I was wondering how do they determine what is the best mask for you to have?
Avatar n tn My wife uses a cpap machine with moisture every night. She has had two bouts with pneumonia this winter which she never had before using the cpap machine. Questions: Can breathing in excess moist air into the lungs by means of the cpap machine overload the lungs with moisture and cause problems?
