My son was born at 37w1d , he decided he wanted to stop breathing & coded and needed CPR & a CPAP cap, evidently he was transferred to a hospital with a NICU, he had the same issues with the not eating right, he was being gavage fed every 3 hours from an NG tube.
also, I wish I would have kept a journal and just written his progress in it and how I felt I would give anything to go back and read how I was feeling even though it would be hard to write. I only have a few pictures of him in nicu and his cpap mask, then finally I have his oxygen cord thing and when they finally cut it BC he didn't need it anymore. that's the most special thing to me.
Born at 34 weeks, she weighs 6 pounds 14 ounces and us 19 inches long. With her being so early, she is in the NICU but she seems to be doing ok. Breathing on her own but has a CPAP to help a little. The biggest concern is that her blood sugar is staying low. With me being diabetic, she can't maintain her blood sugar. Other than that she is ok. She beautiful and perfect in every way. Continued prayers for healing so I can take her home soon.
I would like to no why if they can find nothing wrong. Why my baby can breath without cpap ventilation.
I went into labor at 25 weeks, waters broke and having contractions, they stopped my labor and gave me steroids for bubs lungs. I then went into labor again at 27 weeks and gave birth. He was 2lb 1oz, breathing on his own but needed cpap for a few days then onto a low flo oxygen for a few weeks. He was a little fighter and the doctors in the nicu are absolutely amazing. He had a minor set back at 8 weeks old and had to go back on oxygen, which he cam home on for a few weeks.
She was having trouble crying so they had my boyfriend cut the umbilical cord and rushed her to the corner where they all crowded her and tried different techniques to try and get her breathing. Ended up having to get her to the nicu....got stitches,and had to push out placenta... An hour later they came back and told me my baby was on a ventilator,and they needed to do a few procedures to see what is wrong with her.
I had my first at 34+4. She was in the nicu for less than a week while her lungs finished developing, and we took her home for good after 10 days. Other than her lungs she was perfect, and is now 11 yrs old, healthy as an ox, and the same size as me!!
Her lungs were almost ready at that age she was on CPAP in the NICU.
D BE IN THIS SITUATION NOW MY BABY HAS NO DAD ON HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE HE HAS BEEN AT THE NICU FOR 4 DAYS NOW AND IM JUST READY FOR HIM TO COME HOME I SMOKE LIKE 3 BLACKS A DAY BECAUSE IT'S OVERWHELMING BUT I TRY NOT TO SHOW IT SO ANY WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT WOULD BE GREAT..!!
He had sucked in a lot of myconium so I only got to hold him a little bit before they took him to suck it out. Then they had to put him on the cpap. I got to hold him for 15 minutes in the nursery but he still has to be in there until his oxygen can stay up. I am going to eat and then go back to the nursery! He is 8lbs 10 oz and 20 in. With soft, light brown hair! So precious!
My SIL has a blood disorder that makes her placenta rupture every pregnancy the furthest she has carried is 32 weeks with my beautiful neice. She was born just over 3lbs. She had to be on the cpap for a few weeks but didn't have to stay in the NICU for too long. She is a healthy 2 year old now. You will do just fine. You have done a good job of keeping baby in and you are in the best place you can be. Best wishes! I hope you can keep that baby cooking for a little while longer.
Did anyone have their twins around this time give or take a couple weeks? How much time did your babies spend in the NICU and did any health problems short or long term result? Thanks mommies, I'm very nervous!
I'm 37 weeks but for the last three I've measured small and have had limited movement. They keep having me come in and do ultra sounds and non stress tests, they said my baby girl is in the lowest 10 percentile of weight does this mean when she's born she'll have to stay in the nicu Until she puts weight? Or will they let her come home?
My daughter was in the nicu for 2.5 months. Not exactly same circumstances. But great outcomes I would say. She came home completely healthy. It's normal to be scared. I started pumping as soon as she was born. She didn't eat for about 3 weeks. But as soon as she was able to have some they had my milk stored at the hospital. I was able to try putting her on my breastfeeding but she wouldn't eat that way. Either way I breastfed her for 1 yr 3 months.
m 26+6 pregnant right now and have known for awhile my baby will more than likely have to spend a week I. NICU this is my third baby and my first time dealing with this with my first he got to leave the hospital two weeks before I did and with my second I didn't let her leave my sight our whole stay which was just 2 days. I'm trying to prepare myself mentally and am terrified I want to breastfeed and spend as much time with my baby girl she will be my last.
I just have a couple questions for the moms that had their baby early and they needed to stay in the nicu. How early did you have him? And how long did he/she have to stay at the hospital? Also, how long did they keep you there? The normal two days? Or four days because of a c-section? Longer? I would appreciate any and all advice!
She basically told me that i will more than likely have the c-section @36 weeks but since the babies r so small then it might be @34 weeks and that no matter which date my babies will go in the NICU till what was supposed to be my due date! Im super hurt and upset @the thought that my babies wont come home with us i wont leave the hospital with out them! But im confused since they are small why would they take them earlier???
