Cpap nasal aire ii

Common Questions and Answers about Cpap nasal aire ii

cpap

Avatar m tn I use a nasal aire II, which is kind of like a oxygen cannula, only fits snug into your nostrils. It is much more comfortable than a mask, which I could not tolerate. There are other similar devices that you may be able to tolerate better. Also, make sure you have a humidifier on your cpap machine, as that can make a huge difference in not drying out your throat and nose. I know a lot of people have a hard time adjusting to the cpap, but it is worth it to stick with it.
4915340 tn?1360965940 previous to Oct 22, 2012, my BP has historically been 110-120/80 and I never had headaches. I was diagnosed with UARS in 2005 but was given a CPAP with a nasal-aire vs a full face mask and any time I was stuffy I would discard the use of my CPAP. I haven't used it for several years now. The doctors are baffled, my sleep study did not reveal OSA (but when I mentioned UARS they looked like they were unaware of what that was).
Avatar f tn After my last hospitalization for Afib, I learned that 50% of the cases are due to sleep apnea. My pressure setting is 14. I use a Nasal Aire II device (kind of like how oxygen is deilvered, only larger), no mask pressing on my face. I use Ayr Saline Mist before bedtime, as well as Ayr nasal gel and Breath Right strips to keep my nasal passages open. I also have a humidifier on my machine. I hope some of this helps. Good luck.
1173253 tn?1263496613 I am not sleeping as I keep taking off the CPAP to blow my nose or to cough. Could I be allergic to the CPAP, or the dirt or germs in the tubing, or to the air that is sucked in thru the CPAP? No matter how good I feel in the day.....I get worse at night? Help Please.
Avatar f tn According to my info 50% of Afib cases are caused by sleep apnea. Blood pressure and heart rate go up at night. I also need something called a nasal aire head gear instead of a mask. It doesn't leak and takes care of the apnea, according to the data they extracted from the card. The nasal pillows they gave me, did not stay in place and I had an episode while on it. My setting is 14.
Avatar n tn ve tried to use CPAP for more than a year with no success, using full mask, nasal mask or nasal pillows with chin strap. They either keep me from falling asleep, or I can't get them easily reseated without leaks if I have to get out of bed during the night. I also have trouble keeping the headgear/chin strap in place even when it's correctly adjusted; it slips off my head. I have to over-tighten it; not only uncomfortable, but it irritates my skin. Have you tried CPAP Pro?
1193998 tn?1265117597 Hi try not to worry about CPAP i was the same as you claustrophobic i would get the nasal mask that way to start with get to use CPAP in the daytime to get used to it on face so night time is easy for you. All so what helped me was to have the RAMP low that makes it easy to breath also with the nasal mask you can sleep on your side.......You can ask me anytime just leave me a note i shall get back to you asap...Take Care....
Avatar f tn The tech only brought the nose mask and a nasal pad setup with no humidifier. I tried the nasal pad and it feels like a knife going in my nose.I tried nose gel and spray. Wow, I am not a baby but this hurt. I am calling tomorrow (Monday) to let them know that, first off, I too am a mouth breather, and also need a humidifier. Thank God this first machine and mask is a test of sorts for month. They were worried about this equipment costing so much without a prescription plan.
Avatar n tn I have used scores of Prescription antihistamines, decongestants, eye drops, nasal sprays, saline flushes, have reduced CPAP pressures, and used different style mask over the past seven years! These help moderate symptoms, or recover from occurrences, but do not prevent them. > I wish more research would be done in this area.
967168 tn?1477584489 I have Moderate OSA and haven't been able to tolerate any of the masks I've tried; not even a small nasal piece I tried at the hospital or dr's office. I sleep on my side propped up on 2 pillows plus 1 in front, 1 in back. I think it's because I have major ANS (autonomic nervous system) issues and the masks make me feel like I can't breathe; my HR goes up and I almost faint, as soon as the air goes into the nasal passage I start feeling weird and dizzy.
Avatar n tn In most cases this resolves nasal congestion and irritation if it is caused by CPAP. Also if your mother has a deviated nasal septum then also it can cause allergy like symptoms. CPAP machines can also cause air in the stomach-gas and bloating. Lowering the CPAP pressure can help but do not do this without consulting your sleep specialist. Switching over to bilevel pressure or C-Flex may help your mother too. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Avatar n tn If you already have a humidifier and still experience these symptoms you may need a heated humidifier. In most cases this resolves nasal congestion and irritation if it is caused by CPAP. CPAP machines can cause air in the stomach-gas and bloating. Sleeping with head aligned with the body helps. If you want a raised head then the head end of the bed should be raised. Pillows should be kept to the minimum.
Avatar f tn You should consider taking care of your nasal congestion first, which will allow you to breathe better and also be able to benefit from CPAP for your sleep apnea. You're right—using a nasal cannula doesn't make sense if your nose is stuffy. See an ENT for your nasal congestion.
Avatar m tn I use a CPAP machine, with a nasal mask setting is 15. I do believe it makes me sleep better. However it causes serious gas especially in the morning. I know others have reported this problem but have yet to see a good answer.
332074 tn?1229560525 I know that they are going to put me on a cpap machine. I know I would do okay with the mask that is just the two little prongs that go in your nose. However in the past when I have had surgery I have gone crazy when they have put the mask over my mouth and nose. I have always had very bad allergies and can not stand to have anything touching my nose and mouth. So I was wondering how do they determine what is the best mask for you to have?
1218873 tn?1300091216 Ok - so I went for the follow up appointment at the sleep apnea clinc and they have given me a humidifier for the Cpap machine, so hopefully this will reduce the dryness. They also read the SD card which had been recording the pressures that I had required over the last 3 weeks. They were quite suprised at how high they were. But also found that the machine was set up for a nasal mask not a face mask.
Avatar f tn In the meantime you could avoid taking alcohol and try to sleep on your side as this keeps the airways patent. If any nasal blocks try to keep them patent with OTC nasal decongestants. Aim for optimum weight with exercises or long walks. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
5054005 tn?1362922551 My CPAP mask bothers me in the morning. I guess its when I start waking up a little and the mask will get a gap in it from the way I move and make a burping sound. Then that's it I cant go back to sleep unless I take it off. Anyone else?
Avatar m tn Well, sneezing and watery eyes can be due to a reaction to CPAP machine. This machine dries up the eyes and nasal passages which causes irritation, burning and sneezing. However pulmonary fibrosis cannot be due to CPAP use. Alternatively uses of CPAP mask in pulmonary fibrosis can cause claustrophobia like symptoms. Lung scarring occurs due to pathological deposition of fibrous tissue. This is a progressive disease usually and hence needs frequent periodic monitoring.
