Avatar f tn Changing the tubing, keeping it spotless, did not help prevent infection for me. Stopping the cpap treatment, is the only thing that prevented the chronic lung infections...and I always used the humitifer, which never helped prevent any infection... I regret ever having the sleep study and I regret what all the money and time it cost me, and the suffering of 3 years of lung infections...I am so done using the cpap treatment!
Avatar n tn I use a CPAP machine at night to help me breathe. I have been noticing more pain in my right lung in the back middle region for the last week. Is anyoone else having these symptoms or problems with pain?
Avatar n tn There can be several causes that require a person to use CPAP, including complications of lung function following surgery (infection, lung collapse, fluid in the lungs, etc). Lung failure in these cases are typically temporary and resolve with treatment of the underlying cause. This process may take a while (days to weeks) during which time intermittent use of CPAP may be used.
Avatar n tn Can the CPap machine cause lung infections

721511 tn?1230593710 Muscular pain when first using CPAP has been reported by some, Others report chest and back pain from air going into the digestive system. CPAP should not cause pain, shortness of breath, and dizziness during the daytime. Maybe you should talk to your doctor about checking your respiratory and cardiac function. I kept getting symptoms assumed to be cardiac and turned out to be respiratory related with decreased lung function. Good luck on finding answers.
Avatar n tn It is great that you have been using your CPAP “faithfully”, but it would be wise to seek reevaluation, probably to include a sleep study, of the effectiveness of the CPAP; i.e., is the CPAP actually preventing nocturnal hypoxemia, especially in a sustained fashion?
Avatar m tn It's a cover up. There is no way to get the gum out short of surgery. It will be moist and soggy and sitting in the lower part of your lung and tangled around your vocal chords. That is where my nicotine gum that i inhaled is sitting. There is no way to get it out short of surgery. Think about it. The gum is soggy. A hook will just slice through it. If you are breathing okay the Doctor will just try to give you psychological assurance by telling you that you must have swallowed it.
Avatar m tn Even when I was at normal weight, I still snored quite loudly. My kids made comments that they could hear me on the other side of the house with the door shut. Didn't have a sleep study until 3 years ago. I will have to have my friend and buddy "Snorf" for the rest of my life. Yes, CPAP is a pain in the butt...but it beats congestive heart failure, stroke, heart attack, pulmonary hypertension, high blood pressure and death.
Avatar f tn resp. muscle weakness( restricitve lung disease with MIP and MEp 17%,21%). I had a sleep study earlier this year that confirmed hypoventilation at night with elevated CO2 (52%). I was placed on a cpap but have been unable to tolerate this. I cannot go to sleep with it on and if I do get to sleep, I take it off in 1-2 hrs. I was seeing someone in the sleep clinic but he moved to another state. I saw a NP who prescribed restoril but it has not helped at all. I know I need to use the cpap .
1611319 tn?1378618399 I am wondering if CPAP or Oxygen level is making me worse? or has CPAP played a part in the cause from the beginning. My Respiratory Doctor is also an ER doctor and has not been in his office, I have to wait till June 4th for resluts and a Game Plane! I have considered going to ER just to see him. Or City is short on these doctors and one has been having health issues himself and is out. So I cannot go to another. These are my most recent labs including thyroid stuff.
Avatar f tn Her lungs were almost ready at that age she was on CPAP in the NICU.
Avatar n tn Do you have a humidifier on your CPAP? Dry air can cause these kind of complaints.
Avatar n tn Sleep apnea itself can have negative implications for brain health. The bacteria that they talk about with cpap machines is more lung related. But talk to your doctor.
586101 tn?1239680323 As far as I know, I'm not aware of any studies linking all three. But one thing that obstructive sleep apnea can do is to aggravate almost every other condition. Sleep apnea causes a chronic low-grade stress response, which can definitely affect your immune system. It's also been shown that if you have sleep apnea, the vacuum forces that are created can suck up normal stomach juices into your throat, which can in small amounts go into your lungs and sinuses, causing inflammation.
1580703 tn?1651904887 yes I have OSA and CSA and PLMD and cpap doesn't work for me, my nose starts to buzz/hurt on cpap because of deviated septum. this disease has destroyed my whole body and life and career. I started getting diabetes, brain damage, couldn't learn well, exhaustion thanks!
Avatar m tn I am on oxygen at night with my cpap. My lung Doctor told me as long as I stay on my meds and stay away from the cigarettes, I will never get any worse. I have to be careful not to get pneumonia, but my meds should help me there. I would get a new doctor if he or she does not answer your questions. Get a good specialist. Quitting smoking does help more than you know. You are weak because of your flair up. Did your Doctor give you an antibotic? Did your Doc prescribe a steroid?
Avatar m tn After 14 years on cpap I know there is a solution that can be added to the water to help with sinus related problems. When looking up a search on sinus rinse you can find countless home remedies for sinus rinse which I use on a regular basis.I have added different things to the water but have not found one to my satisfaction.I have used distilled water but have you noticed that it smells bad.
771990 tn?1341779376 I have an Interstitial Lung Disease. (Hope I spelled that right). I used a CPAP machine for a short time and then it was changed to a Bi PAP machine. I have only had the Bi PAP 2 nights. Night One- I woke at 3:30 am with a very sore throat and the pressure from the machine was making my throat burn, so I had to take it off. Night Two- I woke up at 2:00 am (last night) with uncontrollable sneezing. The amount of stuff I was blowing out of my nose was ridiculous!
Avatar m tn ve lived my life in a state of exhaustion, until use of my cpap machine, and that has often caused very bad seizures. Without my cpap machine, I don't think I'd be here making this post.
