Common Questions and Answers about Cpap headgear small

cpap

Avatar n tn My doctor recently suggested I try a product called CPAP Pro because I can't tolerate headgear/mask systems. I'd like to hear from anyone who's had experience with it. I've tried to use CPAP for more than a year with no success, using full mask, nasal mask or nasal pillows with chin strap. They either keep me from falling asleep, or I can't get them easily reseated without leaks if I have to get out of bed during the night.
Avatar n tn I am a new CPAP machine user. I have a humidifier on my machine. I am doing very well after only one week with the air pressure but I awake a couple of times each night because the steam condenses in the hose and water drips in my nose! So I have to get up and empty water out of the hose and back into the humidifier. My throat gets really dry without the humidifier. Also, my headgear slips off. So I think I need a different one. Any suggestions for either issue? Thanks!
Avatar m tn Do this as well, and you will get better sleep and improved breathing. Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Avatar n tn I get reoccurring small welts that itch like mad. I get them everywhere (except for my privates-none there) my eyes swell up and today my ear is swelling up. they seem to disappear for a a few weeks and are right back starting all over again. initially I thought it was oison ivy but it is not. what possibly could this be???
Avatar f tn I've been on a CPAP for 2 1/2 weeks. I'm sleeping relatively well with it, 7-8 hours per night. Almost every day since I've had the CPAP I've had headaches. The headaches don't start when I get up, but rather a few hours later in the day. Earlier this week I saw my doctor for a check up and told him about these headaches, and he said they were real and probably caused by pressure on the brain.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Ok - so I went for the follow up appointment at the sleep apnea clinc and they have given me a humidifier for the Cpap machine, so hopefully this will reduce the dryness. They also read the SD card which had been recording the pressures that I had required over the last 3 weeks. They were quite suprised at how high they were. But also found that the machine was set up for a nasal mask not a face mask.
Avatar n tn The other night I was sparring at my boxing club, we all share the same sparring gloves and headgear, my question is during the match I sustained a small cut on the inside of my lip, there is clearly old blood on the outside of the gloves, could I get HIV or Hep C from the old blood coming into contact with my face, eyes cut
Avatar f tn I just received a new pressure (8) on my humidified CPAP, and I'm having a big problem the minute I get up: tickling to actual burning when the air hits my nasal membranes, runny nose, and constant sneezing. When my machine was set at 3, this happened a couple of times a month, - I blamed myself, thinking the CPAP hadn't been properly cleaned. But now I clean it in hot soapy water every day, and the problem is every single day! Do any of you have this problem?
Avatar f tn can a headgear help with chronic tmj disorder or a splint if i don't want to do tmj n jaw surgery ??
Avatar f tn Second which seemed less common was the need after her braces are fitted she would get something called a headgear. To be honest, when i saw the picture she was shown, i was needed to her in the chair I felt very uneasy. I kept a brave face asking all the right questions but i could see poor child, her eyes were glassy and wanted to cry. She was shown a metal object called Facebow that would be inserted into her mouth and held in place with bands and tubes on her back upper teeth.
Avatar n tn Whatever the cause of the inflammation, OSA or aspiration enhanced by esophageal dysmotility, the inflammation in small airways could result in the yellow mucus. CPAP works in part by splinting the airways open that could facilitate clearance of the mucus and blood from inflamed airways, which would otherwise be collapsed when not on CPAP. Such small airway inflammation could also be enhanced in an individual with a history of cigarette smoking.
Avatar n tn Cost is definitely a factor since we have already spent a small fortune, so I am thinking bridge instead of the implants. Opinions?? Is there any other procedure we might consider? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Hi Dr. Park, Thanks again for all the great information and interviews. I recently decide to go ahead with surgery for my UARS, so I really appreciate your interview with Dr. Li. I'm having sliding genioplasty and hyoid suspension. I am going to a major university medical center, I've met a doctor who shows a lot of understanding and concern, and I 'm pretty satisfied that I'm doing the right thing.
956292 tn?1334054869 Hi, To answer your question: No I haven't heard of the sleep study for MS. My MS specialist and neurologist KNOW I experience pretty severe fatigue and they never once mentioned to have a sleep study done. (they don't know I had a sleep study or that I use the CPAP) forgot to mention it to them... I had a sleep study done back in April, before my MS symptoms began...(I was dx with asthma.... the pulmonologist asked if I had fatigue or did I snore..
Avatar f tn A cursory check of the extant literature on CPAP, obstructive sleep apnea, and edema (swelling) led me to a small clinical study where they found that CPAP actually reduced edema in most of the patients. This led the authors of the study to conclude that edema may be caused by OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) itself, rather than by CPAP usage. If you would like to see the study for yourself, you can find the journal article here: http://www.sleep-journal.
1339997 tn?1276341777 My son was diagnosed about a year ago & wears a CPAP ( hard to get one to fit correctly on small child) and he does well with the machine. I was wondering if central apnea goes away or what causes it? His adenoids are out & his tonsils aren't enlarged but he has low muscle tone that probably contributes to the obstructive apnea.
Avatar n tn Problems with CPAP are much less of a problem with modern small nosepieces and also adjusting the pressure to fit the body type and lung compliance. Most CPAP users do have dry eyes and use lubricating drops at bedtime.
107693 tn?1252864443 I asked for the nose pillow when i got the results, thinking that i would like it better, It has been two weeks so i asked for the small mask. I was also told that i need to use CPAP with the water. When i wake up I find the need to take it off, then when i go to put it back I get very anxious, palpitations or it feels that my heart is racing. So i sleep without it. I have thyrothis with six nodules. had a FNA results were negative. High thyroglobulin, not on any medication.
586101 tn?1239680323 As far as I know, I'm not aware of any studies linking all three. But one thing that obstructive sleep apnea can do is to aggravate almost every other condition. Sleep apnea causes a chronic low-grade stress response, which can definitely affect your immune system. It's also been shown that if you have sleep apnea, the vacuum forces that are created can suck up normal stomach juices into your throat, which can in small amounts go into your lungs and sinuses, causing inflammation.
Avatar f tn When I was flossing my back teeth last week, I noticed some small bumps on my uvula. There is one on either side of my uvula where it joins the roof of my mouth, and then increasingly small ones go down the front of the uvula in a sort of a V-shape. They are 100% painless, although they may be slightly red (not sure if it's just normal inside-of-the-mouth red or not).
Avatar m tn overweight, mostly in the belly and neck, it seems. So a small weight loss worked. Your case may be require more, but I can say the small weight loss makes me feel and look better, by my wife's opinion. Belly no longer overhangs belt and while I need to undergo at least an overnight Recording Oximeter test at home to confirm, I am comfortable that I no longer suffer form SA.
Avatar f tn I was getting redness and cuts when I first started using CPAP but it turns out that my mask was too small. Once I went to a large Mirage Quattro, the bleeding stopped. If your husband is using a small or medium mask, he may want to look at a large one. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn I have mild obstructive sleep apnea and was able to get by without a CPAP by losing some weight, which opened my throat a small amount and enough I think to make the mask unnecessary. Keep in mine I am an old guy, so the only life I am taking risks with is mine. That said, I plan to take an overnight recording oximeter test to see if the weight loss has in fact removed the obstruction.
Avatar n tn You know, my husband also has a missing bone between sinus and brain. Just a small fragment and no one knows why but it was after sinus surgery when they informed him of this. There is something about the consistency of egg white that separates them. Kind of freaky. Anyway, this is a good question for your doctor. I wouldn't think this should be an issue but you'd want to make sure you have just the right pressure setting for your cpap device.
568603 tn?1240404035 Treatment for sleep apnea involves CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) CPAP uses a small mask held onto the nose by straps, and has pouches that insert into the nostrils. The mask is connected to a motor that regulates the amount and pressure of air sent into the nose, exerting pressure to keep the nasal passages open. The pressure is determined by polysomnography.
Avatar f tn Is the CPAP helping with the apnea events? I used CPAP for months and when I sent the card in for a reading found out it really wasn't doing any good, I was still having around 40 apnea events per hour. Just a thought.
