My friend's company replaces his CPAP supplies whenever he asks. They give you instructions on how to keep it clean. Obviously nobody wants to do it, but there are consequences. Otherwise they would let you do it the easy way. Now you have unexplained lung nodules, so you will have to get a biopsy to find out what is going on. Nobody here can help you.

I have other sleep problems, but I have not yet had to go to a CPAP. I understand if I wish to go to a CPAP my doctor requires I do another overnight in hospital (or other sleep study center) CPAP test to determine the best "settings" for me. So far I am CPAP free.

Also, I am having a machine delivered and set up by a tech in 2 days. Which machine is easiest to handle. I have heard horror stories about CPAP. The main problem was the fact that the air is blowing back at your nose when trying to exhale. Can't this be adjusted. Help me to know what to expect and which machine is best.

ll leave the technicalities to someone else, but in general untreated apnea is not good for the heart, or any other part of your body. Whoever provided your cpap equipment should see you through whatever it takes to be successful if you keep going back to them. There are web sites dedicated to helping others with adjusting to cpap. Just sounds like your heart doesn't need the stress of sleep apnea, whether it is causing the problems or not.

Go back to whoever you get your cpap supplies from and ask about a full face mask. The chin strap did not work for me....... I had to get the mask that covers both nose and mouth. Hope that helps!

You can find out your status by testing 3 months after your last exposure. If you abuse IV drugs, you must be vigilant about not sharing any equipment used to inject. Use all of your own supplies. That will ensure that you won't ever be at risk for HIV, or Hep C or B. BTW, you should be testing for Hep B and C if you've shared works as well. You can post in our Hepatitis forums for more info about that. You'd do yourself a favor and seek help if you are abusing drugs.

ve found that using a fully data capable CPAP, one that allows ME to access my therapy data each morning encourages me to continue w/CPAP therapy even when I am having difficulties as the data helps to point out what the difficulties are - most often just too high a leak rate. I've used and been happiest w/the Resmed S8 Elite, then the Resmed S8 AutoSet Vantage and then the Resmed S8 VPAP Auto when I needed to be switched to a bi-level PAP due to my COPD.

Lets say you're out shopping, you walked through the chemical aisles, and u smell all the diff types of cleaning supplies.. does that smell affect the baby?? Because that's what I have to deal with at work, I don't open them and sniff them, but I smell it when passing by.. Which is often, is it bad? :( I'm only 11 weeks my first pregnancy so everything worries me..

At the time of the diagnosis, I was tested, and then re-tested with the equipment. Apart from being surprised that the machine has lasted this long without service, I have wondered whether the settings done at the time of the diagnosis are still appropriate. Can anyone tell me: a) the normal useful life of a C-pap machine, and b) at what intervals should one normally be re-tested? Thanks!

I'm thinking by "breather" you are speaking of a cpap machine. It could be that your therapy needs some adjusting for it to be effective. I'm going to list some common issues to troubleshoot. If you are not using a full face mask, could you be mouth breathing? Doing so causes all your therapy to go out your mouth and result in still suffering the health effects of the sleep apnea, including daytime sleepiness. Is your mask leaking too much to be effective?

My CPAP mask bothers me in the morning. I guess its when I start waking up a little and the mask will get a gap in it from the way I move and make a burping sound. Then that's it I cant go back to sleep unless I take it off. Anyone else?

Did you catch that I did a sleep study back in January and now have my very own CPAP machine ? I had talked to the neuro about my fatigue, waking with mild headaches almost every morning, and wanting to go to sleep at work or driving home. (fortunately I did neither). He ordered the sleep study, and sure enough apnea is a problem I have. This week, though, I have incredible fatigue going on, despite the CPAP help.
