5466288 tn?1410485185 Thanks for replying.I was afraid that would be the answer.I do have sleep apnea, but due to moving and needing new mask and other equipment,I haven't been using my CPAP.
Avatar n tn Both are great sites with lots of experienced CPAP users giving out some great advice. I also participate in the www.apneasupport.org site. One of the more common reasons given for swollen eyes is an air leak. This also means that the pressure is not optimal, and he's not getting the full amount of air pressure into his lungs. Another reason is pressure by the mask on the face, preventing venous outflow from the eyelids.
514349 tn?1272801633 An in-home sleep study revealed that I had a MILD case of sleep apnea. PCP ordered a CPAP device equipped with a humidifier. I am using 7.0 mm pressure with a nose mask. I have not felt any better after using this equipment now for over a week, in fact I feel even more tired and now I wake up with a moderate headache. Is this normal? Do I need to use CPAP for a while before I am adjusted?
608104 tn?1352587153 In reply to KatEyes, thanks for suggestions about the settings of this mysterious equipment. I am now on a trial of an auto-pap. The settings are 7 inhale, 5 exhale with a high pressure limit of 13 mmHg which is more helpful. The current specialist is leaving and a new pulmonologist arrives late September. Recently my primary physician added NiaSpan to lower cholesterol which has an interesting side effect; I can dream and remember my dreams.
Avatar m tn coughing, sinus drainage), and you are using a CPAP/BiPAP machine then yes, it can be related if your not keeping your equipment clean. it can also cause headaches/migraines.
Avatar f tn Also, I am having a machine delivered and set up by a tech in 2 days. Which machine is easiest to handle. I have heard horror stories about CPAP. The main problem was the fact that the air is blowing back at your nose when trying to exhale. Can't this be adjusted. Help me to know what to expect and which machine is best.
967168 tn?1477584489 ll leave the technicalities to someone else, but in general untreated apnea is not good for the heart, or any other part of your body. Whoever provided your cpap equipment should see you through whatever it takes to be successful if you keep going back to them. There are web sites dedicated to helping others with adjusting to cpap. Just sounds like your heart doesn't need the stress of sleep apnea, whether it is causing the problems or not.
603216 tn?1244710593 If you don’t face any nasal congestions or rhinitis and are able to sleep properly, then you should be back to normal in a few days time. Just in case if some problems related to a good fit exist, you can try out some other brand/model. Cognitive behavioral therapy at the beginning of usage of the machine also increases compliance. If mask is causing some discomfort or claustrophobia, you may try out some desensitization training.

Avatar m tn Nearly 11,000 former sailors, soldiers, airmen and Marines could have been exposed to infectious diseases because three VA hospitals in the Southeast did not properly clean endoscopic equipment between patients. On Friday, the VA revealed that another patient had tested positive for HIV, bringing the total to four such cases among patients who got endoscope procedures at hospitals in Miami, Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Augusta, Ga.
461838 tn?1255790216 I am a 59 yr old male. In the past couple of months I woke up because I was choking and could not breathe. I could breath normal after a few minutes of catching my breath. What is this a symptom of. I quit smoking 30 years ago.
Avatar n tn The rules may be different in your state, but in NY, it's perfectly acceptable to request a CPAP prescription from your sleep doctor so you can order it on your own, from where ever you wish.
Avatar f tn So far, it says, it has encountered no additional problems. In the meantime, the VA has brought in additional personnel to help with testing and counseling in Miami, Murfreesboro and Augusta. It has also set up a toll-free number that VA patients and their families can call, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for additional information: 1-877-575-7256. The VA says it will pay for treatment for the infected vets even if they didn't get hepatitis or HIV from the dirty equipment.
Avatar m tn ) I no longer have the blemishes or marks on my face and am still getting the benefits of the CPAP equipment. What other solution is there other than throwing the dang thing at the wall and saying to heck with it ... and believe me I have been tempted but I like the air and all it's benefits so I am inclined to do it this way. :) Hope this helps. BTW ... I have an under the nose cushion and also a partial face one ...
Avatar f tn Thank you all so much for the helpful advice. I am sorry that I took so long to reply, I was out of town this past week with no Internet access. I really appreciate the time you took to write the answers. I wish I could pick more than one best answer!! So far we have not made any progress toward the surgery but he is still miserable. We are both very much on the fence about this.
Avatar f tn m wondering if this has been the issue all along. Symptoms include migraines, pressure in head, pressure in and ringing in ears, numbness/tingling in face and hands, pain in legs and feet, easily fatigued, and lack of concentration/memory. These can range in severity and significantly got worse a few months ago due to high stress in my job. I'm also having bouts of insomnia and notice symptoms are worse on days after not sleeping well.
511091 tn?1211149660 It's not 'usual,' but the doc really is trying to do the right thing to make sure you don't have any problems during the procedure. You wouldn't be allowed to bring your 'equipment' into a room in which they have to keep it sanitized in a certain manner, so your CPAP mask wouldn't work. The best and easiest way to handle the situation is via intubation.
Avatar m tn Dose is 200mg day, after 1 month I went to 200mg morning 100mg afternoon. Now at 200mg in morning, 200mg in afternoon and still not completely removing sleepiness. Getting 8 hours sleep every night on breather and meds; still sleepy. Now started to have overdose effects, crawling feelings, weird hot and cold spots, sudden sweats, visions in outside of normal vision sight that are not there when turn to look. I suspect too much med for these.
Avatar n tn how can they be treated when equipment in our area is too small to make a complete diagnosis. Also can we be sure that is all wrong. This discussion is related to low oxygen while sleeping.
