cpap

Avatar n tn Check out the message boards on these 2 websites for CPAP related questions. The boards here are very active. I think I've read this problem on those boards before. www.cpaptalk.com www.apneasupport.
514349 tn?1272801633 I have not felt any better after using this equipment now for over a week, in fact I feel even more tired and now I wake up with a moderate headache. Is this normal? Do I need to use CPAP for a while before I am adjusted?
Avatar f tn I agree that there are likely things he can do to make his CPAP experience less bothersome. While the surgeries available must help some people, knowing if you (or your husband) will be one of the successes is an educated guess if he has a good doctor, a crap shoot if he doesn't. Some do go on to need CPAP anyhow.
5466288 tn?1410485185 Thanks for replying.I was afraid that would be the answer.I do have sleep apnea, but due to moving and needing new mask and other equipment,I haven't been using my CPAP.
Avatar m tn coughing, sinus drainage), and you are using a CPAP/BiPAP machine then yes, it can be related if your not keeping your equipment clean. it can also cause headaches/migraines.
Avatar f tn After a sleep test, I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. I slept for about 5 hours and I stopped breathhing 203 times, and my pulseox dropped to 60. My doctor said it was the worst case he had seen. Could this be an exaggeration? Also, I am having a machine delivered and set up by a tech in 2 days. Which machine is easiest to handle. I have heard horror stories about CPAP. The main problem was the fact that the air is blowing back at your nose when trying to exhale. Can't this be adjusted.
648944 tn?1241469694 While I do see a sleep doctor at least a couple times a year and have been retested recently because I have multiple sleep disorders, my cpap treatment has been stable for a few years and I just keep an eye on my data at home periodically. If I did not know how my data looked, I may think my cpap treatment isn't working, when it's really my other sleep disorders at issue.
967168 tn?1477584489 ll leave the technicalities to someone else, but in general untreated apnea is not good for the heart, or any other part of your body. Whoever provided your cpap equipment should see you through whatever it takes to be successful if you keep going back to them. There are web sites dedicated to helping others with adjusting to cpap. Just sounds like your heart doesn't need the stress of sleep apnea, whether it is causing the problems or not.
603216 tn?1244710593 I will be purchasing a cpap machine next week for my sleep apnea and wondered if anyone had any tips or advice on what I should be looking for or at when purchasing one. Also does anyone have any comments on the face mask verses the nasal mask??
Avatar m tn I use Bi-PAP now and O2 with it and let me tell you - I also regurgitate and aspirate frequently and make a mess of all the equipment. Life can be a real challenge! I hope you get answers and can get help for fatigue. Sometimes there's just nothing you can do - except exercise as possible and take the best possible care of yourself.
Avatar n tn Had sleep study, left study with a sleep apnea machine, discovered it would cost me $140 a month, have high insurance deductible so shopped online and found same machine brand new fraction of the price, called my sleep doc for a copy of my prescription....was told "its against policy to give you a copy, we don't approve of obtaining your equipment elsewhere" DO I NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO THE RX AND TO CHOOSE WHERE TO PURCHASE IT?
Avatar m tn ) I no longer have the blemishes or marks on my face and am still getting the benefits of the CPAP equipment. What other solution is there other than throwing the dang thing at the wall and saying to heck with it ... and believe me I have been tempted but I like the air and all it's benefits so I am inclined to do it this way. :) Hope this helps. BTW ... I have an under the nose cushion and also a partial face one ...
Avatar m tn If you indeed mouth-breathe while asleep, it might be worthwhile for your doctor to investigate the reason for that preference; for example, a nasal obstruction that might be surgically relieved. Then perhaps, the use of a nasal cannula might be feasible. If you are normally able to breathe through your nose but cannot while asleep, you might want to give consideration to the type of soft-gel mask commonly used with Nasal C-PAP.
Avatar f tn Using a mouth piece will not help, unless, you have MILD apnea. It takes awhile to get used to wearing a CPAP mask for some people. I always suggest to my patients that are having a difficult time, to wear it during the day (while watching TV) to help your body get used to it. Give yourself atleast 2 months to get used to it. Don't give up so quickly..It's your health!
511091 tn?1211149660 I recently had a colonoscopy done in a hospital, and when the anesthesiologist found out I had sleep apnea, he insisted on intubating me. He was very rude about it, and I explained that I've had 2 colonoscopies done in the past and wasn't intubated for either of them. I woke up OK, but I was so scared I was going to be awake when they put the tube in or took it out. He told me he didn't want me to desaturate during the procedure.
956292 tn?1334054869 Hi, To answer your question: No I haven't heard of the sleep study for MS. My MS specialist and neurologist KNOW I experience pretty severe fatigue and they never once mentioned to have a sleep study done. (they don't know I had a sleep study or that I use the CPAP) forgot to mention it to them... I had a sleep study done back in April, before my MS symptoms began...(I was dx with asthma.... the pulmonologist asked if I had fatigue or did I snore..
Avatar n tn how can they be treated when equipment in our area is too small to make a complete diagnosis. Also can we be sure that is all wrong. This discussion is related to low oxygen while sleeping.
Avatar m tn A machine that records treatment data would report if you are still having apneas even tho using the equipment at the prescribed level. Things change, needs change. For instance, if you were tested while not medicated or not drinking, you could need a higher pressure for when you do use those. Your need could also increase if you gain weight.
5054005 tn?1362922551 I have had CPAP about 4b months
Avatar f tn Lol, I'd just put the money away for diapers for the time being or you might end up with too many in one size and might not be able to swap them. That was my mistake with my daughter, too many newborn diapers! Had to give them away in the end.
1307298 tn?1305946851 I'm interested in reading any responses on Provent use. I've read discussions about it on another forum, but not from anyone who had used it. I would want with any treatment to have a sleep study while using it to confirm it is indeed effective. Is there anything in particular about your CPAP giving you a problem, or just in general? I've been using CPAP about 5 years. Can't say I'd never consider another form of treatment, just would have to know for sure it was working.
Avatar m tn The most common treatment and arguably the most consistently effective treatment for sleep apnea is the use of a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device. In addition to CPAP, a dentist specializing in sleep disorders can prescribe Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT). It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar n tn I have been using a CPAP machine for almost 3 months. From the night I used it I did not wake to go to the bathroom during the night. Although this was nice, I developed a problem immediately (from the first night) with swelling in my legs (calves, ankles, feet) and in my hands. I did NOT mention it to the sleep doctor because It was a month until my follow-up appointment and I never saw it listed as a side effect of CPAP therapy in materials I read.
1767141 tn?1313678474 I forgot to ask: do you have a copy of your equipment order (prescription) for both the CPAP and for the APAP?
8377023 tn?1399509160 Oshkosh and Carter's are having a $3.99 sale. My mom just told me.
Avatar f tn This led the authors of the study to conclude that edema may be caused by OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) itself, rather than by CPAP usage. If you would like to see the study for yourself, you can find the journal article here: http://www.sleep-journal.com/article/S1389-9457(04)00116-9/abstract?cc=y You many want to call your sleep doctor/pulmonologist to describe these symptoms you're having and get their opinion on the best way to treat the swelling.
