Avatar n tn Every once in a while I will wake up and my eye will be very sore and dry. I know I need the CPAP but I don’t want to go blind. This discussion is related to CPAP MACHINE.
Avatar n tn why does my boyfriend have very swollen eyes when he uses his CPAP machine and how to prevent or help it.
Avatar n tn I have just got a CPAP machine and have had 3 nights with it. I've had sleep apnea for many many years and finally did something about it. My questions are for those who've been through the "getting used to it" process.
Avatar n tn Do you have a humidifier on your CPAP? Dry air can cause these kind of complaints.
Avatar n tn t relate the horrible red bloodshot eyes to the CPAP, but now that my eyelids are swollen, itchy and my eyes are staying red, and the only thing that's changed is I've been wearing a cpap mask for the past 8 nights...I guess that's what's happening. I called the sleep clinic, talked to a nurse and she told me to stop the cpap for a couple nights to see if it got better. I've gone one night without the cpap...and my eyes are not recovered, I'm going another night tonight.
Avatar f tn I got on the internet to see if others were having the same problems. Puffy eyes and swollen feet are very noticeable since using CPAP. I have my settings on high Humidity level during the winter. I hope to see the spectrum go the other way during during the Summer. Desert regions of the Northwest make very dry conditions. I do not want to start diuretics since I have been on the other end of the elimination problems for some time and have stopped using the medication.
Avatar f tn Hi there if you say it got worse when using mask , have you any leaks at the top of your mask , you may have it a bit loose tighten it up a bit , i hope it helps you , Please take care
Avatar m tn But I am really feeling very anxious right now, the last time something like this happened was 3 years ago (and it was the same eye) and then it went away after the doctor prescribed a corticosteroid ointment. Is it a case of dry eyes?
Avatar f tn Now 3yrs, 3 opticians and 3 opthalmologists later I remain functionally blind with chronically dry, burning eyes. One eye is squinty and the other half closed (ptosis). I am tense in the base of my skull, temples, jaw, neck and shoulders and often feel disoriented I presume from holding myself strangely in an attempt to see. Reading is so hard because words are jumping about on the page. I cant even watch tv without discomfort so i have my eyes closed as much as possible.
Avatar m tn This is a common problem for people who sleep under fans, sleep with CPAP machines for sleep apnea, have dry eyes, have had eyelid surgery. The treatment is turn off the fan, humidify the bedroom and put a lubricating gel in both eyes at bedtime (e.g. Genteal gel, Refresh Liquigel, Refresh PM) On awakening put in a set of regular eye drops (e.g.
Avatar f tn How do I avoid swollen eyelids every morning after sleeping with CPAP? This discussion is related to Swollen eyes & CPAP.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Ok - so I went for the follow up appointment at the sleep apnea clinc and they have given me a humidifier for the Cpap machine, so hopefully this will reduce the dryness. They also read the SD card which had been recording the pressures that I had required over the last 3 weeks. They were quite suprised at how high they were. But also found that the machine was set up for a nasal mask not a face mask.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Thanks guys for your advice. No my CPAP does not have a humidifier. The mask I have is a small, and I have a dry mouth spray that I use before I put the mask on. I have used the CPAP every night, but 2 weeks in I am still having problems. I will look into the mouth wash and see if it is available in the UK I tried a bit of DIY on Saturday night by wearing a inch wide elastic band around my head to keep my mouth shut. It worked like a dream.
Avatar n tn He said that it was very dry because I opened my eyes while sleeping. And CPAP might cause my eye very dry that caused real pain. So I wore the eye sleeping patch but the pain occurred under the patch. This week one early morning I removed my CPAP when I needed to go to the pot. I went back to bed but I did not put CPAP back. I went back to sleep. Two hours later the pain stabbed my eyeball and this time I was aware when it hurt before I opened my eyelids.
Avatar m tn Well, sneezing and watery eyes can be due to a reaction to CPAP machine. This machine dries up the eyes and nasal passages which causes irritation, burning and sneezing. However pulmonary fibrosis cannot be due to CPAP use. Alternatively uses of CPAP mask in pulmonary fibrosis can cause claustrophobia like symptoms. Lung scarring occurs due to pathological deposition of fibrous tissue. This is a progressive disease usually and hence needs frequent periodic monitoring.
Avatar f tn sleeping with pets or stuff animals that cause allergy 5 dry eyes
Avatar f tn My first visit to the opthomologist diagnoses me with the dry eyes and put me on steroids. My eyes are now getting significantly worse. I had an OCT test in May and my test was normal. My eyes hurt all the time, especially when I close them, my detail vision(including reading words and recognizing faces) is diminishing, and I still struggle to focus my eyes in the center. I also struggle with tracking things with my eyes. Does anybody have any thoughts?
Avatar m tn I have noticed that I am waking in the middle of the night and morning with a mouth that is so dry I cannot swallow...teeth and tongue really dry. I am definitely still mouth breathing, even with the CPAP. I also noticed over the last week that my tongue is yellowish (related?). I wake and really do not feel refreshed, like the CPAP is not really helping. I also have acid reflux, which compounds the problems. What can I do? Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn Post nasal drip is seen commonly in sinusitis, nasal polyps and allergies. Since all these causes have been excluded CPAP seems to be the most likely cause. CPAP is known to cause post nasal drip and dry cough in its users. I would suggest you to please consult an ENT specialist as soon as possible. Take care!
Avatar f tn As a generalization the most likely thing causing this is chronic dry eyes. This would be especially true if you fit the demographic: female over 40. another common cause of waking up with eyes uncomfortable is if you sleep under fan, have air moving across the head of the bed or have sleep apnea and wear CPAP.
Avatar m tn Your problem is not likely related to exercise or diet. You do a lot of things that dry the eyes e.g. driving (don't run the heater or AC in your face), using computer (which drys eyes and make you blink less). Waking up with eyes uncomfortable is very common for people sleeping under a fan or with air movement in their bedroom (don't do it), who have sleep apnea and wear CPAP or who sleep with eyes partially open (post Bell's Palsy, post cosmetic eyelid surgery, or just do it).
Avatar m tn I am a 37 year old female also dealing with random severe dry eyes and the afterimage of a dull camera flash in my right corner of my eye and something smaller in my top of my left eye to the side! I ironicallyuu got a bacterial meningitis vaccine for nursing school back in August 2016. This dry eye stuff started happening around September! And the lights in my eyes started about mid November! Wish I had answers!
Avatar f tn Hi Meagher sorry you are having problem with your CPAP the only thing i may suggest is another type of mask i dout if the CPAP machine would send out any toxic air what i my suggest is run the CPAP for a while please let me know how you get on........
Avatar f tn Tysabri tomorrow, 3 years now, starting to feel better, but the CPAP is driving me nuts, don't see the doctor until the end of the month. For something with moisture added, it sure makes my throat dry. Diesel continues to grow but still has a lot of puppy in her. She had her first grooming yesterday and someone in the store commented they had seen her 2 days before in the fabric store and she was behaving very well (like a girl, she loves to go shopping).
Avatar m tn Hi I know how you feel as I have same problems with my nose getting blocked etc and my mouth goes so dry my tongue sticks to roof of mouth. I told my cpap dr and he suggested I have a humidifier which attaches to cpap machine, I'm also on oxygen. This is my first week with humidifier and I feel so much better, I haven't had a blocked nose all week. Have you tried one of these?
