648944 tn?1241469694 As you are researching, consider if treatment data (not just compliance data), plans to use it for travel, means of battery backup, exhalation relief, and having an option of being auto titrating are important to you. While I love my bells and whistles, I kinda feel that it's like the cars these days - so much more to go wrong than in the old no-frills days. In the meantime, congratulations on getting such a reliable machine.
Avatar f tn I really am not worried about the failure as I have my pacer interrogated every 3-4 months. My pacer is getting old and the battery life is waning so that is the reason for the frequent interrogations. I do not have a ICD/defibillator, just the standard pacer. Have you recently had the AV and SA nodes ablated or are you scheduled to have it done?
Avatar m tn It is a bridge to a transplant, and some are also living on it -- like **** Cheney. They carry a battery pack and have an opening into their abdomen, but hey, they're still here. It sounds like they are working on making it smaller and more refined. I remember when the first refrigerator sized artificial heart was tried -- I thought then that if it worked, it would beat not being here at all -- one could still read, look out a window, enjoy life.
Avatar n tn I have suffered for three weeks with bowel backup. Went to ER four days ago after began vomiting. X-rays show bowels backed up but no obstruction. Dr. said take Magnesium Citrate. Took two bottles, four enemas, taking about six tablespoons/day of Ducolose. Have not had any results in bowel movement except about 3:30 a.m. yesterday. Went to M.D. yesterday and sent me for CT Scan. Results--still significant backup and advised to continue what I'm doing. Still hurting. Can you help?
Avatar n tn your heart has what essentially amounts to a backup battery. If it stops beating right, the backup sends it a signal to get it moving again. Sometimes it sends that signal by accident, causing that weird heartbeat feeling. This can be caused by a variety of causes and is not something to worry about.
1218873 tn?1300091216 Ok - so I went for the follow up appointment at the sleep apnea clinc and they have given me a humidifier for the Cpap machine, so hopefully this will reduce the dryness. They also read the SD card which had been recording the pressures that I had required over the last 3 weeks. They were quite suprised at how high they were. But also found that the machine was set up for a nasal mask not a face mask.
Avatar m tn If you have an ICD-CRT device (also with defibrillator), your doctor can leave the ICD turned on and change the pacemaker (ventricular pacing) as a backup if needed (e.g. when your own pacemaker runs too slowly or if appears a blockade between the upper and lower part of the heart). You can discuss about this option to your doctor and define with him the pros and cons. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I know that I am being slightly irrational, but it would help to get some backup on that opinion. I am a 27 year old female who is pregnant. This is my second pregnancy. I was in the Army and during my career was tested last right before I got pregnant with my daughter, which was in 2004. Since then I have been with her father, and my current husband whom I am now expecting a child with. We have been together for over 3 years in a very monogamous relationship.
Avatar f tn I just received a new pressure (8) on my humidified CPAP, and I'm having a big problem the minute I get up: tickling to actual burning when the air hits my nasal membranes, runny nose, and constant sneezing. When my machine was set at 3, this happened a couple of times a month, - I blamed myself, thinking the CPAP hadn't been properly cleaned. But now I clean it in hot soapy water every day, and the problem is every single day! Do any of you have this problem?
475300 tn?1312423126 Does it happen on battery or only plugged in? If the latter it could be an electrical problem and you might try a surge protector. BTW I've had a similar problem and never really figured it out, just went away on it's own. My guess is that it is keyboard related and something was sticking. You can also try some computer housekeeping with some free adware programs like "SpyBot", "Adaware" or "Malwarebytes anti-malware.

Avatar f tn I have had the surgery that you describe as well as a deviated septum repaired. I will tell you that this surgery is no walk in the park. It is like getting hit in the face by a truck. Getting your tonsils removed in adulthood is very painful as they are quite large. Your Uvula getting cut out doesn't feel much better. The operaration seemed to be sucessful for about a year and then I put a few pounds back on the old bread basket and my sleep apnea returned.
Avatar m tn I recently had a MRCP done that showed a backup of fluid in the Duodenum and that the fluid was not flowing in the correct direction. My doctor has not yet seen the results of this scan. For the past few years I have had symptoms of intense, burning pain right under the right rib cage, spreading across the chest and down the back. Because of this, I had my gallbladder removed in 2011; but the pain only got worse. The area is always tender to the touch.
Avatar n tn i just went for my second sleep study to be hooked up to the cpap. the first one said i quit breathing and was breathing very shallow. once i get my new machine how long will it take to be back to 100%. i could tell the morning after that i did feel a little better and did not have a headaache.

332074 tn?1229560525 I know that they are going to put me on a cpap machine. I know I would do okay with the mask that is just the two little prongs that go in your nose. However in the past when I have had surgery I have gone crazy when they have put the mask over my mouth and nose. I have always had very bad allergies and can not stand to have anything touching my nose and mouth. So I was wondering how do they determine what is the best mask for you to have?
Avatar n tn My wife uses a cpap machine with moisture every night. She has had two bouts with pneumonia this winter which she never had before using the cpap machine. Questions: Can breathing in excess moist air into the lungs by means of the cpap machine overload the lungs with moisture and cause problems?
Avatar f tn Shhhhhhh - your brain and body are listening. Give yourself some positive self talk, such as... I can do ANYTHING for just 30 days. Sleeping in my own home and bed will be nothing like in that lab. I'm going to take advantage of this change to get 30 days of real quality sleep. I'm glad that CPAP increases my likelihood of a good surgical outcome and recovery. I'm glad the next 30 days I will be at reduced risk of heart attack and stroke.
176495 tn?1301280412 so, what am I gonna do about it) we have a triple backup sump pump system with a battery back up that will pump 43000 gallons before dying" "The fish"..we have 2 aquaria, one a 30 and one a 55 and we just added some new fish...the temp before outage was 80 in the water..so I had to go down and wrap blankets around the tanks. 6AM she was kind enough to tell me that it was will out and I needed to chec on the fish...water temp was down to 78..
Avatar n tn since using cpap machine started swelling in feet, ankles, hands and stomach. stopped using machine for 4 days swelling went away. started using again for 3 days swelling came back.
Avatar m tn In the clinical trial design about obesity with type 2 diabetes , the exclusion criteria includes patients should be excluded if they have fasting glucose levels greater than 270 mg/dl, I wonder the the clinical significance of the 270 mg/dl? In the T2DM clinical guidance, I didn't find this value.
