From what I've read on a site devoted to cpap (cpaptalk) some of the older machines are workhorses and some report length of service similar to yours. It would not hurt to plan for the day it does "give up the ghost". Have you had it checked to make sure it is still outputting the proper pressure? Also, many of the newer machines capture treatment data so that you can know if your treatment is effective, and some even have available software so you can monitor it yourself.

I have mild obstructive sleep apnea. PO2 only drops into mid 80's sometimes, mostly low 90's, but overnight polysomnogram says I have 13 apneic events per hour. I've tried O2 overnight (used neighbor's) and PO2 stays in the high 90's. Is that a sufficient treatment?... or do I need the positive pressure of CPAP. I've tried the CPAP and I've completely failed. Mostly keeps me from sleeping well unless I'm on Ambien.

after reading a post about dopplers i bought one. got it on amazon its called babysounds. it seems great. but does anyone have any advice when using it. i couldnt hear anything but my femoral arteries. i'm only 8 weeks and have read experts suggest u start using them at 13 weeks. i'm just desperate to hear our baby. :) but of course dont want to get worried cos i cant hear anything.

ve been buying cloth diapers at a really good price on Amazon. I know that they are going to put me on a cpap machine. I know I would do okay with the mask that is just the two little prongs that go in your nose. However in the past when I have had surgery I have gone crazy when they have put the mask over my mouth and nose. I have always had very bad allergies and can not stand to have anything touching my nose and mouth. So I was wondering how do they determine what is the best mask for you to have?

Shhhhhhh - your brain and body are listening. Give yourself some positive self talk, such as... I can do ANYTHING for just 30 days. Sleeping in my own home and bed will be nothing like in that lab. I'm going to take advantage of this change to get 30 days of real quality sleep. I'm glad that CPAP increases my likelihood of a good surgical outcome and recovery. I'm glad the next 30 days I will be at reduced risk of heart attack and stroke.

since using cpap machine started swelling in feet,ankles,hands and stomach. stopped using machine for 4 days swelling went away. started using again for 3 days swelling came back.

for getting products off of high shelves (ie.furniture). The battery (5000Lbs 16 cell) that is in the unit has been leaking for several weeks and creating a sulphuric smell (like eggs) it is very strong. We don't use the unit it just sits in the corner. Our supervisor has told us numerous times that it is not harmful at all and it is just a bad smell. Is this correct and if it is harmful how do I got about rectifying this without reprisal?

we have a lead acid battery installed in our bathroom and there always persists a caustic like odour, somewhat acidic like odor and after i bathe i cough for sometime and also feel fatigued and burning sensation through my colon , i never had this problem earlier and i was not concerned initially but as i came to know about battery emissions i felt consulting, can it be due to inhaling ACIDIC FUMES i am more worried than being concerned about my health.

I noticed I had gained over 6 pounds since starting CPAP. After just one night without the CPAP I dropped 3 pounds, which I believe is all fluids. I read a post of a chin guard to keep your mouth closed and prevent furthering dry mouth.I got one on amazon,great quality and awkward to use.It worked.My mouth stayed closed at night.Got 8 hours of sleep.As a back up I bought 2 teeth guards to keep the open sores from bonding to my teeth.Haven't used them yet.

I have been using a CPAP machine for almost 3 months. From the night I used it I did not wake to go to the bathroom during the night. Although this was nice, I developed a problem immediately (from the first night) with swelling in my legs (calves, ankles, feet) and in my hands. I did NOT mention it to the sleep doctor because It was a month until my follow-up appointment and I never saw it listed as a side effect of CPAP therapy in materials I read.

I had to discontinue using my cpap, due to chronic lung infections. Changing the tubing, keeping it spotless, did not help prevent infection for me. Stopping the cpap treatment, is the only thing that prevented the chronic lung infections...and I always used the humitifer, which never helped prevent any infection... I regret ever having the sleep study and I regret what all the money and time it cost me, and the suffering of 3 years of lung infections...I am so done using the cpap treatment!
