I've been taking cozaar 100mg and amiloretic for 3 months I have stopped it for 4 days now my feet ankles are swollen and I have mild headaches
Or is the Cozaar good enough? (Some places even suggest taking an ACE along with an ARB...is that a good idea?)
Blood Thinners: Should I be taking one? (And is low-dose aspirin safe? There seems to be conflicting thoughts on this for people with CHF.)
Supplements: Should I be taking any?
What about statins? Vasodilators? Digoxin?

Hi there. First timer with a question about Losaran for hypertension. My BP runs about 140/90 without medication. I am not overweight (BMI of 22, age 57). My GP put me on Lisinopril last year but switched me to Losartan after the Lisinopril failed to help. The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80.
I think after this month, that will be 3 months on losartin(cozaar), I will see how my blood work is then add vasotec to the cozaar wait 3 months check my blood work and make a decision on dropping cozaar for vasotec.
It was first published as far as I can see that losartan reduces fibrosis in 2000, that sure seems much to long a time lag between discovery and clinical use and I'm sure it is that way across medicine.
I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?
Plavix is to be taken with precaution in presence of kidney problems. Cozaar is to be avoided or taken with extreme precaution in CHF. This along with low blood pressure could have prompted your PCP to stop these drugs.
For a person to have an angiogram he should be medically in a condition to tolerate the procedure and the dye used. Before doing an angiogram the doctors will do an EKG, an echocardiogram and/or chest X-rays.
This is a tough situation.
One of my cousine is suffering with Marfon sysndorme.Doctors said there is no perminent treatment for this.Is anybody doign any research regarding this.If so any improvements and any way found to improve their at least their life span.Please let us know.
I went to the doctor and she did some testosterone test which came back really low, so she put me on Tgel along with some diuretic pills for my blood pressure, since it was regularly around 135/80. I started that treatment along with some viagra pills (which would work everytime), but it's hard to tell whether the testosterone treatment worked or not since I only felt like I got better for a couple of days or a week or two, and then had problems again.
During the day (systolic) hypertension goes 150-160 mmHg and only in 2-4pm it is 130 mmHg (and at 10-12 pm). What should be done for this patient. Maybe trying a diuretic (hydrochlorthiazid) and lowering the dose of Lisinopril? Please tell what do you think of the doses to start trying, how often and when during the day? (P.S. if you think of another drug/combination may be more effective trying, it would be a great help).
This might be more suited to another forum but the others were closed to comments. Anyways, I'm a 50 year old male that's been having some issues with altitude illness. Last year I had a bout with hypertension as well. This may have resulted from residing at high altitude I'm not sure, but my work requires me to spend time at altitude. Since I will be returning again, I would like to make acclimatization as painless as possible.
In my opinion, experience and search Coreg is the best and main medication (with other pills) if you have low EF. Up until the EF improves like a year or more good to be on Coreg. If your doctor says not for you, ask him to explain why?
Genetic's doctor spoke of two beta blocking drugs for 'aorta root dilatation'. Atenalo and Cozaar. In reading about these in pill book, I already suffer from cold spots in the extremities, kidney problems at times and several of the other nasty's listed as side effects, etc. Have a hard time keeping weight on me[130 lbs -5' 5 1/2"], low body temperature [97]. Blood pressure today-108 / 60.
This happened to me too! I stopped the diuretic and put on 15lbs. in few days of water. I never had this much water me when I was put on diuretics. It has been weeks and the water is not coming off no matter what I do. Did you loose your rebound edema and if so, how long? How much did you put on and loose? This is scary!
literature suggests that Sertraline interferes with thyroid Meds. Also taking several supplements, and Cozaar; and Ambien for sleep. Am concerned that what I am taking, or increasing anything, will cause further interference with getting stabilized. I feel like anything I try to do for myself results in adding additional problems, and it is becoming confusing and frightening.
Any feedback on this subject is welcome....

Diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation two years ago by Triple XXX machine. Take amidiarone for arrythmia - take half the recommended dose to avoid some side effects, ie., lower pulse rate.
rarely have Arrythmia now. Take one Cozaar 50mgs daily. BP recently about 165/85. Pulse rate 37 this morning prior to medication. Usually Pulse is 39/42. Has been for years.
cardiologist appt for mom with atrial fibrillation. remain on cardizem and xarelto. see in 6 months. i feel like we were given up on after i left the office for my 86 year old mother. she does pt every day but is short of breath on exertion. the cardiologist said get a diuretic for swelling in legs and feet which i have to ask my primary dr for he stated. she has 70 Percent kidney function. i need help from others here, please.
