Consult with your pharmacist regarding Atacand drug interactions with ANY and ALL drugs/supplements/herbs/vitamins you are taking which may elevate blood sugars. If none exists consult with your doctor on switching to another bp medication.
Avatar n tn Can you go have the Cozaar filled at another pharmacy?
Avatar f tn I read about a trial where they were using Candesartin (Atacand) to prevent scar tissue from forming in the liver, as it's an angiotensin receptor blocker. Atacand saved my life. I had heart failure, almost on the transplant list. I found a great doc at UCDavis (after firing one in Auburn who almost killed me), who put me on the Atacand. My heart is now normal! So when I saw this trial I was really curious.
1008841 tn?1293598960 If you have high blood pressure then ask your doctor to put you on losartan (Cozaar) Not sure what a doctor would do without high BP. You could search clinicaltrials.
Avatar n tn I've been taking cozaar 100mg and amiloretic for 3 months I have stopped it for 4 days now my feet ankles are swollen and I have mild headaches
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar m tn I notice that the Express Script drug I now use is made by Apotex whereas the original Walgreen brand was Cozaar. I went back to Walgreens and asked the pharmacist if there was any chance that the Apotex was inferior/impotent to the Cozaar for some reason. She assured me that could not be the case and that there could be no difference. Losartan is Losartan is Losartan. As an experiment(with GP consensus), I doubled my dose of Apotex Losartan from 50 to 100 mg a day for one week.
Avatar m tn I think after this month, that will be 3 months on losartin(cozaar), I will see how my blood work is then add vasotec to the cozaar wait 3 months check my blood work and make a decision on dropping cozaar for vasotec. It was first published as far as I can see that losartan reduces fibrosis in 2000, that sure seems much to long a time lag between discovery and clinical use and I'm sure it is that way across medicine.
Avatar m tn I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?
Avatar n tn I tried to talk to my husbands P.A. about Losartan (Cozaar) and she just kind of blew me off. If we actually got to see the Dr., he would probably discuss it with us but she doesn't even want to hear about it. Joe has esophageal varicies and Nadolol is what they think is best. I read a study that showed an increase in platelets and albumin levels and subjects with liver disease. I will be watching the news on this.
Avatar f tn s advocate, I want to be armed with good information before we talk to his primary. He presently is not taking the Cozaar or Plavix and I am worried.
Avatar n tn There are studies going on at Johns Hopkins concerning cozaar to see if it can stop or reverse the growth of aortas, which it has done in mice. My son has taken Cozaar and his beta blocker for three years and his aorta has not grown wider...so this is good news!
Avatar n tn What does her doctor say? I would follow her dr.s advice.
Avatar n tn Genetic's doctor spoke of two beta blocking drugs for 'aorta root dilatation'. Atenalo and Cozaar. In reading about these in pill book, I already suffer from cold spots in the extremities, kidney problems at times and several of the other nasty's listed as side effects, etc. Have a hard time keeping weight on me[130 lbs -5' 5 1/2"], low body temperature [97]. 1198633 tn?1341182388 I have recently stopped taking Coreg 6.25ng and started on Cozaar 50mg to manage my blood pressure which is working out really great according to measurements. I was weaned from Coreg by taking just my dosage at night and skipping the morning one for two weeks and then to stop. Since about a week after I cut down to once a day I started to notice a constant pounding heart.
1557045 tn?1294555036 I had a CT Angiogram done for any Aortic disection or Aortic aneurysm, all came back clear, my aorta and all related vessels were within normal range. My cardiologist put me on Atacand as my blood pressure tended to be around 130/70, he advised me while my blood pressure wasnt excessively high, that taking Atacand would lower it a little and make my heart beat with greater efficiency.
Avatar f tn Hi all I am 50 (will b 51 in few months), with high bp managed with Atacand plus and last visit my doc said im perimenopausal. At the end of last year my cycle missed then it came on 18th Feb and lasted till 22nd March. Avatar n tn Cozaar is what my husband is taking for regular heart rate due to a past heart attack. However, it has side effects of chronic lack of energy and the big one of erectile dysfunction. What are some other alternatives?
1246614 tn?1268684275 I had mine repaired 7 years ago and a couple of years ago I started having shortness of breath, dull pain in my heart and now my left ventricle is slightly enlarged. I just started on cozaar, that is the only medicine I am on. My cardiologist seems to feel the time is coming soon, probably in the next 6-12 months. Any thoughts on the subject.
