Several articles seem to indicate that Cozaar (the ARB class) seems to decrease depression, and appears to have a positive impact on day to day mood. To me this seems to indicate that the whole area of fibrosis and atherosclerosis/ inflammation and high blood pressure, may be co-related. With drugs that address the underlying factors causing high blood pressure, we may be addressing other problems as well....like ongoing fibrosis, ED, depression, fatigue...

Can you go have the Cozaar filled at another pharmacy?

Chest pain is not a known side-effect of diovan/hctz. Given the fact that he had a recent bypass I would urge you to take him to the ER ASAP.

I want to stick to my baby aspirin, Diovan 80/day, lipitor 20/day and vitamins and Calcium. Am I being foolish in making this decision and refusing to be cathed?

And the reason for your headaches is because you have stopped taking the Cozaar. The headaches are likely to be because your blood pressure is now too high again. High blood pressure can not only increase your risk of getting a stroke (like ziyanda says), but also increases your risk of getting a heart attack. Once you are put on medication for hypertension, it is usually lifelong.

My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?

I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?

I have a history of good (low) BP, and since the onset of AFib and the ingestion of beta blockers (up to 200 mg of Metoprolol a day) my BP tends to be on the low side. When I first went to 200 mg of the BB my BP went too low, i.e., some dizziness. I may have missed your points, but can say my experience is, AFib doesn't cause high BP.

Call around to your local pharmacies. Ask the pharmacist/s if cozaar is used to treat kidney issues and if its safe to combine with atenelol when your BP is 110/70.

You may need to taper off of the Diovan at some point, so you should be mindful of what your blood pressure is doing and be prepared to ask your doctor to adjust or discontinue the Diovan. You're not on any thyroid meds, so you will need to find out why you are hyper, and you will likely be on the Toprol for a few months at least while the thyroid problem is sorted out. Athlete when young may explain low pulse to some extent. Clearly, BP 165/85 too high still. Plan to take a herbal treatment claimed to cure Atrial Fibrillatiion. That high BP, suggestions please?

I am also taking diovan 80.12.5 once a day. I would like to get off this medication as it is making me very sluggish and tired all the time. How do I wean off this medicine as I am only taking it for one month.

My question is could this be the result of the CVID? My PP reduced my Diovan HCL 160 to Diovan 80 to see if that was the problem. Should I be concerned?

I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.

My son has Marfan Syndrome and has to see a cardiologist once a year to have an echo test. He takes a beta blocker to help slow down the growth of his arota. There are studies going on at Johns Hopkins concerning cozaar to see if it can stop or reverse the growth of aortas, which it has done in mice. My son has taken Cozaar and his beta blocker for three years and his aorta has not grown wider...so this is good news!

After a while, I started feeling dizzy or light headed and We decided to cut down diovan to 80 mg. the dizziness went away for a few monts then it came back and was getting worse. I made a big mistake of stopping the Diovan all together. I was monitoring my blood pressure and it was in the 130-140/80's and I thought I was OK without the medication.
