cozaar starting dose

The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80. So far so good. I was getting the Losartan from Walgreens as a 30 day supply. My insurance wanted me to go to a 90 day 'Express Scripts' route since this was a long-term maintenance drug and so I did.

I don't have EDS, but my aortic root is at the high end of normal, and I might have some mild degree of connective tissue problem (not enough of anything for a diagnosis), but the enlarging of my aorta was completely stopped by taking max dose of valsartan (similar to cozaar (ARB)). Many other people I know w/ connective tissue problems like MFS have had the same results, or aortic shrinkage. I have not yet heard of anyone taking a proper dose of ARB and continuing aortic enlargement.

I've been taking cozaar 100mg and amiloretic for 3 months I have stopped it for 4 days now my feet ankles are swollen and I have mild headaches

Can you go have the Cozaar filled at another pharmacy?

I am on Levothyroxine for hypo-thyroidism, Paxil for panic attacks, Cozaar for high blood pressure, Omeprazole for gastric problems, Methotrexate for rheumatoid arthritis, and a Remicade infusion (chemo) therapy every six weeks also for the RA. Right now, all I want to do is get off the HydroCodone. I will just have to deal with the pain because I hate taking all these medications which are a necessary evil. Is there anyone out there with answers.

Take amidiarone for arrythmia - take half the recommended dose to avoid some side effects, ie., lower pulse rate. rarely have Arrythmia now. Take one Cozaar 50mgs daily. BP recently about 165/85. Pulse rate 37 this morning prior to medication. Usually Pulse is 39/42. Has been for years. Athlete when young may explain low pulse to some extent. Clearly, BP 165/85 too high still. Plan to take a herbal treatment claimed to cure Atrial Fibrillatiion. That high BP, suggestions please?

That sounds reasonable to me. She also said a starting dose 325 bid of Rythmol SR was way too high for someone with my weight (I weigh 97). I feel much better about everything now. I wish you luck and thanks again.

If you have high blood pressure then ask your doctor to put you on losartan (Cozaar) Not sure what a doctor would do without high BP. You could search clinicaltrials.

Have not been able to stabilize symptoms in last 2 yrs, despite dose changes of Naturethroid, and addition of levothyroxine. Serum iodine somewhat low, using iodine supplement in low dose. Currently additionally troubled with palpitations over the last several months, coupled with increased anxiety...new PCP wants to increase Sertraline from 100 to 150 mg for the anxiety... literature suggests that Sertraline interferes with thyroid Meds.

My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?

I think after this month, that will be 3 months on losartin(cozaar), I will see how my blood work is then add vasotec to the cozaar wait 3 months check my blood work and make a decision on dropping cozaar for vasotec. It was first published as far as I can see that losartan reduces fibrosis in 2000, that sure seems much to long a time lag between discovery and clinical use and I'm sure it is that way across medicine.

I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?

A beta blocker like Coreg or Antenolol is usually started with a very small dose as the effects can be huge when starting out. For example, I was given 3.175mg Coreg X 2 daily, and the effects were strong. After a couple weeks, my body got used to it so that was doubled, and doubled again until I was taking 50 mg daily. That proved to be too much so my dose is now 25 mg daily. The same procedure is usually followed with ACE and Calcium blockers.

There are studies going on at Johns Hopkins concerning cozaar to see if it can stop or reverse the growth of aortas, which it has done in mice. My son has taken Cozaar and his beta blocker for three years and his aorta has not grown wider...so this is good news!

ve always been athletic and had a difficult time not going all out when exercising. I am also on an ace inhibitor and a beta blocker. Coreg 7.5mg and Cozaar 25mg. Before heart problem was running 71/2 to 8 minute paces on miles now lucky to run 10 minute and don't seem to have much stamina or wind.

I have recently stopped taking Coreg 6.25ng and started on Cozaar 50mg to manage my blood pressure which is working out really great according to measurements. I was weaned from Coreg by taking just my dosage at night and skipping the morning one for two weeks and then to stop. Since about a week after I cut down to once a day I started to notice a constant pounding heart.

is there a typical dose for starting levothyroxine.....or is it based on weight.....and how often do you check thyroid and what "mcg" amount do you increase or decrease by????

Cozaar is what my husband is taking for regular heart rate due to a past heart attack. However, it has side effects of chronic lack of energy and the big one of erectile dysfunction. What are some other alternatives?

I had mine repaired 7 years ago and a couple of years ago I started having shortness of breath, dull pain in my heart and now my left ventricle is slightly enlarged. I just started on cozaar, that is the only medicine I am on. My cardiologist seems to feel the time is coming soon, probably in the next 6-12 months. Any thoughts on the subject.
