Avatar f tn I am so glad to see your results looking so good! You must feel so relieved. I am quite familar with prevacid since I took it for the last couple of years. I found it is great medication and works very well. To my knowledge there are no damaging side effects to the drug since it was prescribed to me by my gastroligist. Since your blood pressure seems to be under control then you probably dont need the "Cozaar".
Avatar n tn Cozaar is a medication used for high blood pressure. Amiloretic is a diuretic. Your doctor prescribed these to you for a reason and you should not stop taking either of these medications unless your doctor directs you to. The reason why your feet ankles are now swollen is because you have stopped taking the Amiloretic. And the reason for your headaches is because you have stopped taking the Cozaar. The headaches are likely to be because your blood pressure is now too high again.
Avatar n tn Cozaar is what my husband is taking for regular heart rate due to a past heart attack. However, it has side effects of chronic lack of energy and the big one of erectile dysfunction. What are some other alternatives?
Avatar f tn Unfortunately your question was accidentally posted on the bird forum. I didn't notice your question posted on the heart disease forum which may be the best place to ask. Both medications are angiotensin II receptor antagonists which will relax the blood vessels and lower BP. As to which will work best for you, that's up to your cardiologist. It's not unusual to try one medication to manage CHF only to find it's not doing as well as expected, then try another med.
Avatar m tn I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?
1198633 tn?1341182388 Hi, its unlikely that coreg withdrawal can cause your palpitations. Cozaar can cause dizziness or lightheadedness may occur as your body adjusts to the medication. It is also known to cause palpitations. So, if your symptoms are troublesome, consult your doctor he may change the dosage or medication. Regards.
Avatar m tn I asked my doctor, almost two years ago, to put me on Cozaar for my high BP which developed right after successfully ending tx six years ago. I had read articles about its effect on ED and mood, but I became aware of the drug's fibrosis impact later. I am hoping that my stage II fibrosis will retreat over a few years to stage I or better. Maybe the mild, on and off ED issues will resolve as well.
Avatar m tn My BP runs about 140/90 without medication. I am not overweight (BMI of 22, age 57). My GP put me on Lisinopril last year but switched me to Losartan after the Lisinopril failed to help. The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80. So far so good.
1008841 tn?1293598960 If you have high blood pressure then ask your doctor to put you on losartan (Cozaar) Not sure what a doctor would do without high BP. You could search clinicaltrials.

Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?

Avatar n tn Genetic's doctor spoke of two beta blocking drugs for 'aorta root dilatation'. Atenalo and Cozaar. In reading about these in pill book, I already suffer from cold spots in the extremities, kidney problems at times and several of the other nasty's listed as side effects, etc. Have a hard time keeping weight on me[130 lbs -5' 5 1/2"], low body temperature [97]. Avatar f tn Just wanted to know if losartan(Cozaar) is the best option for an alcoholic with gout and high blood pressure? Of course, the best scenario would be to completely delete alcohol out of the equation, but it is not an option at this time for the person involved.
1398923 tn?1283120308 I have taken medication for high blood pressure since I was in my late 30s, gradually increasing it over time. Until late April, I was taking Lopressor (Metoprolol) 100 mg, Cozaar 100 mg and wearing a Catapres (Clonodine) 1mg patch. My blood pressure was well controlled and usually in the 120.70 range +/-. Suddenly it dropped very low. I am currently off all medications and am having trouble keeping it above 9040.
Avatar n tn (157bpm) I was put on Cardizem. The doctor wanted to do a TEE, so he could cardiovert me. I was scared so I decined. After five days I was sent home still in A-fib. Ten days later I was put on Cozaar , Coumadin and Digoxin. That night my heart self-converted. Is it common for A-fib to self-convert after being in constant A-fib tachycardia for 15 days? What are the odds of me going back into A-fib? This was my first time with A-fib.
Avatar m tn Beta blockers definitely have an effect on heart rate. I was started on 2.5mg three years ago, and when my angina worsened I was told to double this to 5mg. I ended up in hospital because my heart rate dropped to 28, 25 when asleep setting off all the alarms. Each person can tolerate different levels of medications, so getting the balance right is important. I know in cardiac rehabilitation there were some people with heart rates between 45-50, much lower than my 68.
