Common Questions and Answers about Cozaar med

cozaar

Avatar f tn Unfortunately your question was accidentally posted on the bird forum. I didn't notice your question posted on the heart disease forum which may be the best place to ask. Both medications are angiotensin II receptor antagonists which will relax the blood vessels and lower BP. As to which will work best for you, that's up to your cardiologist. It's not unusual to try one medication to manage CHF only to find it's not doing as well as expected, then try another med.
Avatar n tn Can you go have the Cozaar filled at another pharmacy?
1008841 tn?1293598960 If you have high blood pressure then ask your doctor to put you on losartan (Cozaar) Not sure what a doctor would do without high BP. You could search clinicaltrials.
Avatar n tn I've been taking cozaar 100mg and amiloretic for 3 months I have stopped it for 4 days now my feet ankles are swollen and I have mild headaches
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar m tn I notice that the Express Script drug I now use is made by Apotex whereas the original Walgreen brand was Cozaar. I went back to Walgreens and asked the pharmacist if there was any chance that the Apotex was inferior/impotent to the Cozaar for some reason. She assured me that could not be the case and that there could be no difference. Losartan is Losartan is Losartan. As an experiment(with GP consensus), I doubled my dose of Apotex Losartan from 50 to 100 mg a day for one week.
Avatar m tn I think after this month, that will be 3 months on losartin(cozaar), I will see how my blood work is then add vasotec to the cozaar wait 3 months check my blood work and make a decision on dropping cozaar for vasotec. It was first published as far as I can see that losartan reduces fibrosis in 2000, that sure seems much to long a time lag between discovery and clinical use and I'm sure it is that way across medicine.
Avatar m tn I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?
Avatar m tn I have been on cozaar for 15 years. 4 years ago I was also placed on HCTZ, due to increasing BP. 7 weeks ago, after getting quarterly labs done, my PCP said my calcium was too high and took me off the HCTZ. She also said my TSH levels were high and placed me on synthroid. Last week I had office visit and my BP was 150/90. My doctor then put me on metaprolol. I started getting headaches every day. My BP remained at 150 to 160 over 90 to 100.
Avatar f tn s advocate, I want to be armed with good information before we talk to his primary. He presently is not taking the Cozaar or Plavix and I am worried.
Avatar m tn I am on standard care for high BP through my GP. I am also using Cozaar for the BP specifically because it has been shown to potentially decrease fibrosis, and have some effect on ED, and mood! Pretty interesting drug. You will see some recent threads on Cozaar (Losartan), and its effect on fibrosis. By taking this particular class of BP drugs, you may be able to 'kill two birds with one stone', or three or four even!
Avatar n tn There are studies going on at Johns Hopkins concerning cozaar to see if it can stop or reverse the growth of aortas, which it has done in mice. My son has taken Cozaar and his beta blocker for three years and his aorta has not grown wider...so this is good news!
543518 tn?1245322027 Someone posted some information on a study done in Spain on how Losartan (Cozaar) and shown some success in help with liver fibrosis, so I read it and it is very interesting. From that article I searched NF-kB and it got very technical after that. My understanding is that NF-kB is instrumental in helping to replicate inflammatory cells even in hep c and b to keep it chronic and is also found in cancer cells.
Avatar n tn Genetic's doctor spoke of two beta blocking drugs for 'aorta root dilatation'. Atenalo and Cozaar. In reading about these in pill book, I already suffer from cold spots in the extremities, kidney problems at times and several of the other nasty's listed as side effects, etc. Have a hard time keeping weight on me[130 lbs -5' 5 1/2"], low body temperature [97]. Blood pressure today-108 / 60.
1198633 tn?1341182388 I have recently stopped taking Coreg 6.25ng and started on Cozaar 50mg to manage my blood pressure which is working out really great according to measurements. I was weaned from Coreg by taking just my dosage at night and skipping the morning one for two weeks and then to stop. Since about a week after I cut down to once a day I started to notice a constant pounding heart.
Avatar n tn Cozaar is what my husband is taking for regular heart rate due to a past heart attack. However, it has side effects of chronic lack of energy and the big one of erectile dysfunction. What are some other alternatives?
1246614 tn?1268684275 I had mine repaired 7 years ago and a couple of years ago I started having shortness of breath, dull pain in my heart and now my left ventricle is slightly enlarged. I just started on cozaar, that is the only medicine I am on. My cardiologist seems to feel the time is coming soon, probably in the next 6-12 months. Any thoughts on the subject.
Avatar m tn , lower pulse rate. rarely have Arrythmia now. Take one Cozaar 50mgs daily. BP recently about 165/85. Pulse rate 37 this morning prior to medication. Usually Pulse is 39/42. Has been for years. Athlete when young may explain low pulse to some extent. Clearly, BP 165/85 too high still. Plan to take a herbal treatment claimed to cure Atrial Fibrillatiion. That high BP, suggestions please?
Avatar f tn Just wanted to know if losartan(Cozaar) is the best option for an alcoholic with gout and high blood pressure? Of course, the best scenario would be to completely delete alcohol out of the equation, but it is not an option at this time for the person involved.
Avatar n tn I tried to talk to my husbands P.A. about Losartan (Cozaar) and she just kind of blew me off. If we actually got to see the Dr., he would probably discuss it with us but she doesn't even want to hear about it. Joe has esophageal varicies and Nadolol is what they think is best. I read a study that showed an increase in platelets and albumin levels and subjects with liver disease. I will be watching the news on this.
Avatar f tn Hello! Thanks for clicking on my inquiry... here is all the info and my related questions.... 56 year old caucasian female, post-menopausal, healthy diet, inability to exercise more than mildly (so just regular activity, frequent walking, everyday tasks etc no problem, full range of motion for non-exertive stuff), obese but not morbidly, taking losartan potassium daily for mild hypertension (a decrease from quite high blood pressure 2 years ago), no other medications, stable in all respects...
Avatar n tn After five days I was sent home still in A-fib. Ten days later I was put on Cozaar , Coumadin and Digoxin. That night my heart self-converted. Is it common for A-fib to self-convert after being in constant A-fib tachycardia for 15 days? What are the odds of me going back into A-fib? This was my first time with A-fib. And I have been in sinus rhythm for 3 1/2 months, with a normal heart rate. I am F 55 not overweight, non smoker.
Avatar m tn Beta blockers definitely have an effect on heart rate. I was started on 2.5mg three years ago, and when my angina worsened I was told to double this to 5mg. I ended up in hospital because my heart rate dropped to 28, 25 when asleep setting off all the alarms. Each person can tolerate different levels of medications, so getting the balance right is important. I know in cardiac rehabilitation there were some people with heart rates between 45-50, much lower than my 68.
Avatar f tn literature suggests that Sertraline interferes with thyroid Meds. Also taking several supplements, and Cozaar; and Ambien for sleep. Am concerned that what I am taking, or increasing anything, will cause further interference with getting stabilized. I feel like anything I try to do for myself results in adding additional problems, and it is becoming confusing and frightening. Any feedback on this subject is welcome....
