Avatar n tn I've been taking cozaar 100mg and amiloretic for 3 months I have stopped it for 4 days now my feet ankles are swollen and I have mild headaches
Avatar m tn I have tachycardia and have a lot of questions also. I am taking Cozaar for diabetic kidney problem. Is Cozaar a calcium blocker or and ACE inhibitor. I don't know one from the other. I only know what a beta blocker is. Which I was taking for years and years but now have stopped in order to see if I can wake up. Having terrible problems with falling asleep and being drowsy all the time.
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar n tn Thanks for the link. The early result is encouraging. What's really great is that this drug is already approved for hypertension and is being used widely. This makes clinical trials much easier and allows for off-label use by hepatologists. Interestingly, the U.S. and Europe have given up on making recommendations for a one size fits all approach to hypertension. There is now more focus on treating hypertension while taking into consideration other comorbidities.
Avatar m tn Hi there. First timer with a question about Losaran for hypertension. My BP runs about 140/90 without medication. I am not overweight (BMI of 22, age 57). My GP put me on Lisinopril last year but switched me to Losartan after the Lisinopril failed to help. The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80.
Avatar f tn Just wanted to know if losartan(Cozaar) is the best option for an alcoholic with gout and high blood pressure? Of course, the best scenario would be to completely delete alcohol out of the equation, but it is not an option at this time for the person involved.
Avatar m tn I think after this month, that will be 3 months on losartin(cozaar), I will see how my blood work is then add vasotec to the cozaar wait 3 months check my blood work and make a decision on dropping cozaar for vasotec. It was first published as far as I can see that losartan reduces fibrosis in 2000, that sure seems much to long a time lag between discovery and clinical use and I'm sure it is that way across medicine.
Avatar m tn I am on standard care for high BP through my GP. I am also using Cozaar for the BP specifically because it has been shown to potentially decrease fibrosis, and have some effect on ED, and mood! Pretty interesting drug. You will see some recent threads on Cozaar (Losartan), and its effect on fibrosis. By taking this particular class of BP drugs, you may be able to 'kill two birds with one stone', or three or four even!
Avatar n tn Can you go have the Cozaar filled at another pharmacy?
Avatar m tn I have been on cozaar for 15 years. 4 years ago I was also placed on HCTZ, due to increasing BP. 7 weeks ago, after getting quarterly labs done, my PCP said my calcium was too high and took me off the HCTZ. She also said my TSH levels were high and placed me on synthroid. Last week I had office visit and my BP was 150/90. My doctor then put me on metaprolol. I started getting headaches every day. My BP remained at 150 to 160 over 90 to 100.
1008841 tn?1293598960 My doctor said she want's to put me on another BP med for Portal Hypertension. I already take Spironolatone 100 mg, furosemide 10mg, propranolol 10mg, which she not taking me off of. I have Thrombosis in my right portal vein. But, my BP is pretty low usually and my pulse rate is already so slow that I'm afraid sometimes my heart will just stop. But, what I really wondered about is that BP Med.that I've heard actually helps reverse Fibrosis in the liver.
Avatar f tn Starting a week before Thanksgiving my blood pressure started going up and became resistant to lowering with the drugs was taking....100 cozaar...25 aldactone.....25 ToprolXL. Numbers were running 210/110 and seemed to hover in that range.....saw dr and he put me on 50 hydralazine which has lowered it to 175/180 over 90...feel pretty wiped out...the hydralazine seems to have given me lots of side effects but if it works to lower bp I'm okay taking it.
Avatar f tn 56 year old caucasian female, post-menopausal, healthy diet, inability to exercise more than mildly (so just regular activity, frequent walking, everyday tasks etc no problem, full range of motion for non-exertive stuff), obese but not morbidly, taking losartan potassium daily for mild hypertension (a decrease from quite high blood pressure 2 years ago), no other medications, stable in all respects...
Avatar n tn Genetic's doctor spoke of two beta blocking drugs for 'aorta root dilatation'. Atenalo and Cozaar. In reading about these in pill book, I already suffer from cold spots in the extremities, kidney problems at times and several of the other nasty's listed as side effects, etc. Have a hard time keeping weight on me[130 lbs -5' 5 1/2"], low body temperature [97]. Blood pressure today-108 / 60.
Avatar m tn I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?
1185895 tn?1266608090 Also, I am currently on medication for thyroid(Levothyroxin) as well as blood pressure(Cozaar), and Propoxypnen-APAP 100-650MG(for my spinal pain). Should I start on the Cymbalta? Will it interact with my other medication? I really want to go off of the Clonazepam. Thank You.
Avatar n tn There are studies going on at Johns Hopkins concerning cozaar to see if it can stop or reverse the growth of aortas, which it has done in mice. My son has taken Cozaar and his beta blocker for three years and his aorta has not grown wider...so this is good news!
1198633 tn?1341182388 I have recently stopped taking Coreg 6.25ng and started on Cozaar 50mg to manage my blood pressure which is working out really great according to measurements. I was weaned from Coreg by taking just my dosage at night and skipping the morning one for two weeks and then to stop. Since about a week after I cut down to once a day I started to notice a constant pounding heart.
Avatar f tn Currently additionally troubled with palpitations over the last several months, coupled with increased anxiety...new PCP wants to increase Sertraline from 100 to 150 mg for the anxiety... literature suggests that Sertraline interferes with thyroid Meds. Also taking several supplements, and Cozaar; and Ambien for sleep. Am concerned that what I am taking, or increasing anything, will cause further interference with getting stabilized.
Avatar n tn Cozaar is what my husband is taking for regular heart rate due to a past heart attack. However, it has side effects of chronic lack of energy and the big one of erectile dysfunction. What are some other alternatives?
1246614 tn?1268684275 Before I had my mitral valve repaired in 2002 the ventricale had enlarged to about where it is now and the cozaar brought it back to within normal limits for a year or so, maybe it will work again but in any event I think I am going to push for surgery. Putting it off for an extra year is really just prolonging what is bound to happen and might make things worse. I just hope permenant damage has not already occurred.
