cozaar drug classification

Has anyone heard about a study with Losartan, a BP drug, on people with HCV, with moderate Fibrosis? Its suppose to shrink them, so the liver can heal. I was wondering how I could get on a study like that? I'm Type1a, a non-responder.

My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?

Hi there. First timer with a question about Losaran for hypertension. My BP runs about 140/90 without medication. I am not overweight (BMI of 22, age 57). My GP put me on Lisinopril last year but switched me to Losartan after the Lisinopril failed to help. The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80.

Can you go have the Cozaar filled at another pharmacy?

Genetic's doctor spoke of two beta blocking drugs for 'aorta root dilatation'. Atenalo and Cozaar. In reading about these in pill book, I already suffer from cold spots in the extremities, kidney problems at times and several of the other nasty's listed as side effects, etc. Have a hard time keeping weight on me[130 lbs -5' 5 1/2"], low body temperature [97]. I think after this month, that will be 3 months on losartin(cozaar), I will see how my blood work is then add vasotec to the cozaar wait 3 months check my blood work and make a decision on dropping cozaar for vasotec. It was first published as far as I can see that losartan reduces fibrosis in 2000, that sure seems much to long a time lag between discovery and clinical use and I'm sure it is that way across medicine.

I've been taking cozaar 100mg and amiloretic for 3 months I have stopped it for 4 days now my feet ankles are swollen and I have mild headaches

I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?

Thanks for all the replies. The type of BP med that I am on is the generic form of Cozaar (either 40 or 50 mg?. So it is pretty much what I thought it was - I need to take some to soften up a bit.

There are studies going on at Johns Hopkins concerning cozaar to see if it can stop or reverse the growth of aortas, which it has done in mice. My son has taken Cozaar and his beta blocker for three years and his aorta has not grown wider...so this is good news!

No. Even though they are both of the same drug classification (flouroquinalones), there is significant differences. My experience is anecdotal, but significant. I cannot tolerate Levaquin at all, but take Cipro without any side effects. I know at least four other individuals with the same tolerance for Cipro.

I am also using Cozaar for the BP specifically because it has been shown to potentially decrease fibrosis, and have some effect on ED, and mood! Pretty interesting drug. You will see some recent threads on Cozaar (Losartan), and its effect on fibrosis. By taking this particular class of BP drugs, you may be able to 'kill two birds with one stone', or three or four even!

ve always been athletic and had a difficult time not going all out when exercising. I am also on an ace inhibitor and a beta blocker. Coreg 7.5mg and Cozaar 25mg. Before heart problem was running 71/2 to 8 minute paces on miles now lucky to run 10 minute and don't seem to have much stamina or wind.

He cut my Lopressor to 12.5mg bid. And I am still on the Cozaar 100mg. What do you think?? Everything I read about this Rythmol says that I need to be hospitalized with this drug to start. The starting dose is usually 225mg bid. I haven't started it yet. Does anyone know anyone who has used this drug??

Does anybody know what the early classifications were before hep c? He was born in 1966 and contracted hep b as a child. Is it possible that he had hep c and they just didn't know about it yet? I assume I got the hep c either from him or other people we "partied with". I never used needles but he had so I just assume he had hep c as well. I just don't understand how I could have one and not the other.
