Common Questions and Answers about Cozaar blood pressure

cozaar

1008841 tn?1293598960 There was a recent thread on this forum regarding fibrosis regression and blood pressure drugs (specifically Cozaar, Losartan, etc. the ARB class). If you look back over the past month this thread should be available. There are a variety of related comments in the thread. I got on Cozaar for my tx induced high BP specifically for this reason! I had read studies about Cozaar being beneficial for ED, Fibrosis, and depression...
Avatar m tn Unfortunately the HCV was not eliminated and when I ran across an article that indicated that losartan(Cozaar) a blood pressure medicine may reduce or eliminate fibrosis I asked my doctor to change on of my blood pressure medicines to it which he did, coincidently on that visit he detected some fibrosis by feeling the stiffness of my liver. The hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) are activated into myofibroblast-like cells that produce the fibrosis by angiotensin II.
1763618 tn?1315807367 i am already on atenelol for blood pressure.. my blood pressure was good, 110/70. i called the nurse, she spoke with my doctor and he says that the cozaar is for my kidneys..
Avatar m tn D another is maybe you become tachycardic because as we urinate (which is because sodium excretion is promoted by cozaar), blood volume decreases, as a result , increase in HR occur to compensate in low blood volume by trying to pump more blood. that's the reason i think behind the tachycardia thing.
Avatar f tn What weight loss supplements are safe to take while on hyzaar and cozaar for high blood pressure
Avatar n tn Does your husband take Cozaar only for blood pressure? If he does ask his doctor if he could try a device called RESPERATE! Google the word RESPERATE and you can check it out. If you also drink three cups per day of Hibiscus tea it can also decrease blood pressure by up to 7 points you can google Hibiscus tea and read about it.
1398923 tn?1283120308 I have taken medication for high blood pressure since I was in my late 30s, gradually increasing it over time. Until late April, I was taking Lopressor (Metoprolol) 100 mg, Cozaar 100 mg and wearing a Catapres (Clonodine) 1mg patch. My blood pressure was well controlled and usually in the 120.70 range +/-. Suddenly it dropped very low. I am currently off all medications and am having trouble keeping it above 9040.
Avatar n tn Genetic's doctor spoke of two beta blocking drugs for 'aorta root dilatation'. Atenalo and Cozaar. In reading about these in pill book, I already suffer from cold spots in the extremities, kidney problems at times and several of the other nasty's listed as side effects, etc. Have a hard time keeping weight on me[130 lbs -5' 5 1/2"], low body temperature [97]. Blood pressure today-108 / 60.
1198633 tn?1341182388 I have recently stopped taking Coreg 6.25ng and started on Cozaar 50mg to manage my blood pressure which is working out really great according to measurements. I was weaned from Coreg by taking just my dosage at night and skipping the morning one for two weeks and then to stop. Since about a week after I cut down to once a day I started to notice a constant pounding heart.
Avatar n tn Can you go have the Cozaar filled at another pharmacy?
Avatar f tn About 7 years ago, I had an enlarged Left Ventrical ischemia (vessel blood flow reduced) and high blood pressure that overworked the heart. Therapy was/is medication to increase the blood flow by reducing blood pressure, and an RCA vessel implant increased blood flow to an area deficit of blood supply Relevant consideration depends on a history of excessive alcohol consumption and the absence of any other known cause of cardiomyopathy.
Avatar n tn A drug known for lowering blood pressure, losartan, has shown great promise to stop or even reverse fibrosis in Hep C patients The link is www.ihealthbulletin.
Avatar m tn I would say that the HCTZ was doing a better job than metoprolol and as a result your blood pressure may have risen - leading to the headache you are now experiencing.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately your question was accidentally posted on the bird forum. I didn't notice your question posted on the heart disease forum which may be the best place to ask. Both medications are angiotensin II receptor antagonists which will relax the blood vessels and lower BP. As to which will work best for you, that's up to your cardiologist. It's not unusual to try one medication to manage CHF only to find it's not doing as well as expected, then try another med.
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar m tn I notice that the Express Script drug I now use is made by Apotex whereas the original Walgreen brand was Cozaar. I went back to Walgreens and asked the pharmacist if there was any chance that the Apotex was inferior/impotent to the Cozaar for some reason. She assured me that could not be the case and that there could be no difference. Losartan is Losartan is Losartan. As an experiment(with GP consensus), I doubled my dose of Apotex Losartan from 50 to 100 mg a day for one week.
Avatar m tn I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?
Avatar m tn I am on Levothyroxine for hypo-thyroidism, Paxil for panic attacks, Cozaar for high blood pressure, Omeprazole for gastric problems, Methotrexate for rheumatoid arthritis, and a Remicade infusion (chemo) therapy every six weeks also for the RA. Right now, all I want to do is get off the HydroCodone. I will just have to deal with the pain because I hate taking all these medications which are a necessary evil. Is there anyone out there with answers.
543518 tn?1245322027 I have high blood pressure and chronic migraines and am just finishing hep c tx (48 weeks) but thought this medication may serve several purposes for me: control the high bp, maybe control the migraines, and help my liver repair itself. Any takers on this one?
Avatar f tn Since then with ups and downs been doing okay.
