Cozaar beta blocker

Common Questions and Answers about Cozaar beta blocker

cozaar

Avatar n tn There are studies going on at Johns Hopkins concerning cozaar to see if it can stop or reverse the growth of aortas, which it has done in mice. My son has taken Cozaar and his beta blocker for three years and his aorta has not grown wider...so this is good news!
Avatar m tn ve always been athletic and had a difficult time not going all out when exercising. I am also on an ace inhibitor and a beta blocker. Coreg 7.5mg and Cozaar 25mg. Before heart problem was running 71/2 to 8 minute paces on miles now lucky to run 10 minute and don't seem to have much stamina or wind.
Avatar f tn It seems that the chest pains are less frequent, but I still get the tight in the chest and breathing issues I had on the beta blocker. Do calcium channel blockers cause lung thightness? My BP was still around 130/90 2 weeks into the Diltiazem. We are checking again when I finish the bottle. Meanwhile, lots of aches and flue like sypmtoms. I always feel sick and tired. I sleep 9 hours a night, but wake up with anxiety attacks around midnight. I think I want to try Cozar again.
Avatar m tn Is the Atenolol suitable, or should I request another beta blocker? Likewise, is there a better diuretic than Chlortalidone? I keep reading about Coreg and & Demadex. Are these better options? Cozaar: They initially wanted to put me on Lisinopril, but I was on that previously and I had a terrible, nagging cough the entire time. I've read that ACE Inhibitors are preferable to ARBs, though, when it comes to CHF.
Avatar m tn My problem is that my regular running workout 3 times a week was affected by the limit on exercise pulse immediately last year from the sotalol beta blocker, and I am considering weaning off the sotalol, in order to be able to restore my running effort beyond jogging. I am looking for medical advice beyond the weaning alternative, with the understanding that ablation has its own problems such as reoccurence of flutter, and almost all other medications have drawbacks in their side effects.
Avatar m tn Someone ( a friend who is an RN) suggested it was rebound hyper tension due to stopping the HCTZ all at once and putting me on a beta blocker at the same time. Has anyone ever gone through this.
Avatar n tn There is now more focus on treating hypertension while taking into consideration other comorbidities. For instance, a patient with HTN and history of heart attack would get a beta blocker as the primary HTN drug while someone with diabetes would get an ACE inhibitor to protect their kidneys. The same consideration might be given patients with liver disease if this pans out.
Avatar n tn Genetic's doctor spoke of two beta blocking drugs for 'aorta root dilatation'. Atenalo and Cozaar. In reading about these in pill book, I already suffer from cold spots in the extremities, kidney problems at times and several of the other nasty's listed as side effects, etc. Have a hard time keeping weight on me[130 lbs -5' 5 1/2"], low body temperature [97]. Blood pressure today-108 / 60.
Avatar n tn I've been taking cozaar 100mg and amiloretic for 3 months I have stopped it for 4 days now my feet ankles are swollen and I have mild headaches
Avatar n tn Hi - 49yo male in otherwise good health, had an mi and placement of 3 stents in RCA. Was told that there was no damage to my heart, and have returned to all activity including hi-intensity workouts (which I was doing pre-mi). I've put on about 30 "pity-pounds" (from 185 to 215) and despite increase in exercise and near-saintly eating habits, having a hard time losing. I suspect that Toprol is causing this problem.
Avatar m tn m making some good progress without any medication at all, just with counseling and reading. But, maybe if a beta blocker would help with the generalized day-in/day-out 24/7 anxiety I should try it. Just seeing if anyone has any experience with beta blockers. I am doing great battling the full-blown panic attacks but I still have constant anxiety. Oh, and I'm not sure which beta blocker my doctor sent in a prescription for. Thanks!
675923 tn?1296238011 I saw your post and just wanted to chime in. It's unusual that her doctor would put her on a beta blocker for anxiety. I haven't heard that before. From what I know about beta blockers, there usually used for hypertension/high blood pressure. I take a beta blocker for hypertension and and first I did have some mood swings but after awhile it went away. I just got back to my normal happy go lucky self. I would ask the doctor exactly why he chose to use a beta blocker to treat anxiety.
Avatar f tn My doctor wanted me to take a beta blocker for migranes and for a recently found Mitral Valve Prolapse. The valve prolapse was really never an issue. I don't usually have negative symptoms from the mitral valve prolapse. Although the last five years of chest discomfort and fluttering during panic attacks could have been from the prolapse and not from just anxiety. Does the beta blocker keep my heart from getting worse?
Avatar f tn I have stopped the omeprazole so I reckon this makes you correct in that the beta blockers must be the culprit. As I was on a different beta blocker to you, I assume most will give us the same symptoms, but it's worth asking your GP for Omeprazole or something similar. I was only taking 20mg every morning.
Avatar m tn please help me to tell about in following list of medicines which is the beta blocker medicine. 1. imdur 30 2. eplinice 25 3. a to z 4. s numlo 5 5. deplatt a 75 6. censpram plus 7. omez 8. mucinac 600 9. niftas 100 10. cranpac d 11. veltam .2 12. dutas .5 13. dovas 14. absolut 3g 15. onglyza 2.5 16. diamicron xr-mex 500 17. inj. ryzodeg 18. inj. spart 19.
Avatar n tn My cardiologist recommended I get on metropolol. My blood pressure, cholesterol and pulse are all normal and I have no chest pains, shortness of breath or other heart problem symptoms. My EKG showed some irregularity, and an ultrasound showed mild Plaqueing in one carotid artery. I have read that once you start a beta blocker you're on it for the rest of your life. Also, there can be some pretty serious side effects. Any thoughts?
Avatar m tn I took proair once yesterday and woke up to my heart racing at 180 beats per minute and my heart skipping everything 3-6 beats for about 15 minutes. Called 911 and the fire fighters recorded my heart rate at 180 bpm and blood pressure of 145/85. Just a minute or two before the EMTs got there it stopped skipping beats and stayed slowing down. Went into hospital and had all sorts of test done and they confirmed it was a reaction to the inhaler.
1302576 tn?1273270866 Not sure if my story helps, but it may be that you could reduce the frequency and intensity of AFib and SVT by taking a low dose of beta blocker and/or calcium channel blocker. The CCB works the best for me.
Avatar m tn If she exhibits allergy to one beta blocker, she is likely to be allergic to the rest of them. Anyways, an allergist may be able to guide you. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I am a severe-persistent asthmatic, and I take a cardio-selective beta blocker called Toprol XL. Though I was not able to tolerate another cardio-selective beta blocker called Atenolol. Other asthma patients may have similar, or opposite experiences. Still others may have no negative responses at all to beta blockers, or be entirely intolerant of them. It really depends on the patient.
Avatar f tn I have to take a beta blocker . All beta blockers cause depresion and anxiety....I know this. My doctor prescribed Lexapro to help with the depression / anxiety cause by the metoprolol beta blocker. Has anyone else taken Lexapro for drug induced depression and has it helped ? The beta blocker has caused severe depression and anxiety. I need something to help me to get out of this hole and depression that I"m in.
Avatar m tn after having a-fib---then finding out i had a leaky mitral valve which needed repairing-----( i did not have any blockages ) my doctor put me on a beta blocker (metoprolol)----I feel great most of the time---the only thing I notice is when I have to exert myself for a few seconds ( like runing and playing with my dog or walking fast up a steep incline ) I have to stop because of lack of wind and feel exhausted----would this be considered a side effect of beta blockers
Avatar f tn Clonidine belongs to a class of drugs called central alpha-adrenergic agonists, so no...it is not a beta blocker... Beta-blockers have been used in cocaine rehab as it can control the "fight or flight' response ...
Avatar n tn You are correct and thank you. Beta blocker lowers the heart rate by blocking B receptors and Atenoplol is a beta blocker that only blocks the alpha receptor. I believe the alpha blocker is a better choice than a beta blocker because it is a positive inotropic agent for CHF as it increases the contractility force of a heartbeat...but it will increase the HR rate as well. I take coreg and that is a beta blocker and alpha blocker and recommended for CHF. Thank you. Ken.
1128565 tn?1316721143 Actually I went back to see the post and I only suggested you one beta-blocker and it was a the cardioselective beta-blocker metoprolol.
