Avatar f tn I'm on 27 days of Diltriazam and some wierd side effects are still there. I'm getting use to the uncomfortable gas and am keeping the constipation at bay with Miralax. I have had many headaches and lots of wierd tired spells. Will Cozar help with the chest pains from the MVP?
Avatar n tn Genetic's doctor spoke of two beta blocking drugs for 'aorta root dilatation'. Atenalo and Cozaar. In reading about these in pill book, I already suffer from cold spots in the extremities, kidney problems at times and several of the other nasty's listed as side effects, etc. Have a hard time keeping weight on me[130 lbs -5' 5 1/2"], low body temperature [97]. Blood pressure today-108 / 60.
Avatar m tn Take amidiarone for arrythmia - take half the recommended dose to avoid some side effects, ie., lower pulse rate. rarely have Arrythmia now. Take one Cozaar 50mgs daily. BP recently about 165/85. Pulse rate 37 this morning prior to medication. Usually Pulse is 39/42. Has been for years. Athlete when young may explain low pulse to some extent. Clearly, BP 165/85 too high still. Plan to take a herbal treatment claimed to cure Atrial Fibrillatiion. That high BP, suggestions please?
Avatar f tn I found it is great medication and works very well. To my knowledge there are no damaging side effects to the drug since it was prescribed to me by my gastroligist. Since your blood pressure seems to be under control then you probably dont need the "Cozaar". However you should mention it to your doctor and check your blood pressure at least weakly for a while.
Avatar n tn As with just about all medications, there are side effects. Losartan has its share as well. I feel if you're going to try this as a Fibrosis reversal opportunistic treatment, you should evaluate the side effects and certainly ask your doctor's opinion. As with pretty much all blood pressure medications, there is that ever gnawing and threatening sexual disfunctionality. Here's a link to the side effects: http://diabetes.emedtv.com/losartan/losartan-side-effects-p2.
Avatar n tn Cozaar is what my husband is taking for regular heart rate due to a past heart attack. However, it has side effects of chronic lack of energy and the big one of erectile dysfunction. What are some other alternatives?
Avatar n tn Check out the side-effects of Lipitor. That particular statin has a lot of side-effects, some very serious. There is a website (not sure of the web address but you can Google it) called Stopped Our Statins. There is a lot of good information on there. I would look at the side-effects of the Lipitor before panicking that it might be something else. There are many new statins out there that don't cause so many side-effects. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn my pharmacey was out of cozaar and they gave me losartan,.
Avatar n tn , was previously approved to treat seizures, as well as pain from damaged nerves that can happen in people with diabetes (diabetic peripheral neuropathy) and in those who develop pain following the rash of shingles. Side effects of Lyrica including sleepiness, dizziness, blurry vision, weight gain, trouble concentrating, swelling of the hands and feet, and dry mouth. Lastly, Paxil can also be associated with weight gain. Again as stated before Wellbutrin has a lower incidence of weight gain .
1008841 tn?1293598960 I got on Cozaar for my tx induced high BP specifically for this reason! I had read studies about Cozaar being beneficial for ED, Fibrosis, and depression...and asked my GP to switch me from diuretic style BP drugs to the ARB class. I did notice benefits in ED function after a few weeks, and also definitely noticed a more positive mood. I am hoping there will also be an impact on my stage II fibrosis after my SVR, and will do a follow up Fibro-Sure test next year to check for any changes.
Avatar n tn I've been taking cozaar 100mg and amiloretic for 3 months I have stopped it for 4 days now my feet ankles are swollen and I have mild headaches
Avatar f tn Had heart attack, valve replacement,,heart failure in 2007. Since then with ups and downs been doing okay. Starting a week before Thanksgiving my blood pressure started going up and became resistant to lowering with the drugs was taking....100 cozaar...25 aldactone.....25 ToprolXL. Numbers were running 210/110 and seemed to hover in that range.....saw dr and he put me on 50 hydralazine which has lowered it to 175/180 over 90...feel pretty wiped out...
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar m tn I noticed I had put on about 10 pounds and new I was under more stress than usual.. Lost the weight and got life under control and every thing BP wise went back to normal..
Avatar m tn I think after this month, that will be 3 months on losartin(cozaar), I will see how my blood work is then add vasotec to the cozaar wait 3 months check my blood work and make a decision on dropping cozaar for vasotec. It was first published as far as I can see that losartan reduces fibrosis in 2000, that sure seems much to long a time lag between discovery and clinical use and I'm sure it is that way across medicine.
Avatar m tn I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?
Avatar m tn If you want to increase your exercise for health benefits, I personally would not do it. Research is showing that overdoing it damages heart muscle. Endurance athletes are more likely to develop harmful arrhythmias. Getting your heart rate into the target zone for your age group for 30 minutes per day is fine. In years past it was felt that more=better. That is quickly changing. Calcium Channel Blockers (CCBs like verapamil) would probably be your next choice.
Avatar f tn s advocate, I want to be armed with good information before we talk to his primary. He presently is not taking the Cozaar or Plavix and I am worried.
Avatar n tn There are studies going on at Johns Hopkins concerning cozaar to see if it can stop or reverse the growth of aortas, which it has done in mice. My son has taken Cozaar and his beta blocker for three years and his aorta has not grown wider...so this is good news!
Avatar f tn Just wanted to know if losartan(Cozaar) is the best option for an alcoholic with gout and high blood pressure? Of course, the best scenario would be to completely delete alcohol out of the equation, but it is not an option at this time for the person involved.
543518 tn?1245322027 Someone posted some information on a study done in Spain on how Losartan (Cozaar) and shown some success in help with liver fibrosis, so I read it and it is very interesting. From that article I searched NF-kB and it got very technical after that. My understanding is that NF-kB is instrumental in helping to replicate inflammatory cells even in hep c and b to keep it chronic and is also found in cancer cells.
1185895 tn?1266608090 Also, I am currently on medication for thyroid(Levothyroxin) as well as blood pressure(Cozaar), and Propoxypnen-APAP 100-650MG(for my spinal pain). Should I start on the Cymbalta? Will it interact with my other medication? I really want to go off of the Clonazepam. Thank You.
