cozaar and norvasc

I think after this month, that will be 3 months on losartin(cozaar), I will see how my blood work is then add vasotec to the cozaar wait 3 months check my blood work and make a decision on dropping cozaar for vasotec. It was first published as far as I can see that losartan reduces fibrosis in 2000, that sure seems much to long a time lag between discovery and clinical use and I'm sure it is that way across medicine.

my pharmacey was out of cozaar and they gave me losartan,.

I tried to talk to my husbands P.A. about Losartan (Cozaar) and she just kind of blew me off. If we actually got to see the Dr., he would probably discuss it with us but she doesn't even want to hear about it. Joe has esophageal varicies and Nadolol is what they think is best. I read a study that showed an increase in platelets and albumin levels and subjects with liver disease. I will be watching the news on this.

Is there any other drug out there that will work the same way to open up small blood vessels like Norvasc but wont have the "bad swelling of legs and feet?" Anyone, please me know know, looking forward to hearing from you...

I take 5mg Norvasc with 100 mg of a beta blocker(Lopressor) and Isosorbide (Nitrate) and Tricor every morning without any problems. But I am confused as to why Norvasc and Cardizem. They are both calcium channel blockers. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that. Have you talked to your pharmacist about any concerns?

since my Dr. adjusted my meds and added some. I take Lopressor, Norvasc and Cozaar, Zaroxolyn and one for thyroid and menopause. I hope this hopes...let us know what you decide. Best of luck and God bless.

I got on Cozaar for my tx induced high BP specifically for this reason! I had read studies about Cozaar being beneficial for ED, Fibrosis, and depression...and asked my GP to switch me from diuretic style BP drugs to the ARB class. I did notice benefits in ED function after a few weeks, and also definitely noticed a more positive mood. I am hoping there will also be an impact on my stage II fibrosis after my SVR, and will do a follow up Fibro-Sure test next year to check for any changes.

then tonight I went to take my medicine for my angina and a light went off in my brain --- I started a new drug, Norvasc (a calcium channel blocker) for my angina in mid-June. This just so happens to coincide with when my bladder took charge. Could there be a connection? I sure think so from what I have found on the web. Several sites list incontinence as a primary side effect of Norvasc for women. These sites though are more anecdotal and not fact based.

9 170 but my blood pressure is always fine at home i do suffer from anxiety but it goes thru the roof when i see a doctor or go to the ER i am 27 years old, i have to see a doc once a week for another condition, but it never fails my pulse and BP rises very high in doctors settings, once i come home both my pulse and pressure is fine again , my worry and problem is how much damage is being done to my heart when my blood pressure spikes like this once a week?

I was on Norvasc but my Dr. changed to Cardizem, I have trouble swalloing and the Norvasc dissolved in my mouth quickly to make it easier to take, the Cardizem Er is a big capsule that is hard to take, should I ask my Dr to go back on Norvasc?? they both seem to work equally well....

I've been taking cozaar 100mg and amiloretic for 3 months I have stopped it for 4 days now my feet ankles are swollen and I have mild headaches

My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?

I noticed I had put on about 10 pounds and new I was under more stress than usual.. Lost the weight and got life under control and every thing BP wise went back to normal..

another thought it would be a good idea to reduce the tenormin to 50 mg and take 5 mg of Norvasc; and the third, suggested to gradually replace the tenormin by 5 mg Norvasc, and to be increased if needed, to 10 mg. Having read so much about Hypertension and its medications, I'm inclined towards the second opinion, i.e. 50 mg tenormin in combination with 5 mg Norvasc. However, I don't have a problem with the first opinion. My problem is with the third; I prefer to keep taking Tenormin.

I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) 5mg and occasionally my legs and ankles (on both legs and never the leg itself) will swell to the point that my shoes will no longer fit, but the the swelling will go down for a while (a week, two weeks perhaps) until it happens again.

I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?

it was discovered 10 weeks ago that i had a aneurysm on my ascending aorta 6.4 with a bicuspid aorta vavle. i had surgery 7 weeks ago st jude aorta valve dacron graft for ascending aorta. Four days after surgery i need a pacemaker due to the surgery. My question is there any long term risk or dangers of this that i should look out for. I take amiodarone (200mg) for a-fib that i developed after pacemaker surgery and celexa 20mg, zocor 20 mg. norvasc 5mg. coumadin 7.5mg m & w 5 mg.

Hi Nick, In short, anything is possible and many meds mixing together certainly make it harder to know what is doing what. Norvasc appears to be for blood pressure normally and a list of drug interactions can be found here : http://www.rxlist.com/norvasc-drug.htm. I claim no knowledge except of what site to look at for this info. Much of it I wouldn't follow either but it will hopefully mean something to you.

All this HTN began as soon as the Norvasc and Metroprolol were discontinued and the Lorsartan 100mg and Atenolol 25mg were begun...now to only have the Norvasc added back but at 5mg versus 10mg! Can the HTN be dangerous for the new liver? Very worried. Thank you!

1mg 2 x day. However, the Norvasc is not working after 12 hrs. My B/P is 150/113 12 hrs after taking the norvasc. Can I take a clonidine .1 mg along with the norvasc?

t even take a recent EKG or even listen to my heart. SO she adjusted what I am on (which is Lopressor and Cozaar) and added Norvasc and Magnesium Ox. the first EP based everything on a holter monitor that was done in December. So I MAY have to go this EP testing in APril if things don't improve. That sounds reasonable to me. She also said a starting dose 325 bid of Rythmol SR was way too high for someone with my weight (I weigh 97). I feel much better about everything now.

Edema is a common side effect of the Norvasc and a low dose thiazide diuretic will take care of the swelling and also help the BP.

s advocate, I want to be armed with good information before we talk to his primary. He presently is not taking the Cozaar or Plavix and I am worried.

I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure. My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?
