Avatar f tn When present, this gene variant increases the risk of lung cancer, especially the risk for small cell lung cancer. Your mother may or may not have this gene variant but that doesn’t mean that you have it. And, if you do have it, the increased risk, in no way, means that you will get lung cancer, small cell or other, especially now that you have quit smoking. The role of lung cancer screening tests is still not clear.
Avatar f tn Could this be thyroid cancer that metastisized to lung or lung cancer that met to the thyroid or just 2 primary cancers. Dr.s are a little stumped. I was seen at Uof Penn They said lung surgery first then deal with thyroid.
Avatar m tn I am not familiar with strong data to suggest that HPV is an important contributor to lung cancer risk nor that it is frequently present in lung cancers. Further, that you had a penile genital wart in no way suggests or raises concerns that you might have infection in your lung or other sites. I would not worry about the association you mention at the present time. As for your persistent penile lesion, my advice is to go back to the dermatologist who initially treated you.
Avatar n tn I've been taking cozaar 100mg and amiloretic for 3 months I have stopped it for 4 days now my feet ankles are swollen and I have mild headaches
Avatar n tn my question is that this lung cancer risk,(1)is it related to natural foods and juices such as carrots and potatoes,(2)is it there with beta carotene and ex smokers or recently quit smokers aswell....finally the studies i read were related to too much extra beta carotene...(3)is the risk their for a normal multivitamin like centrum or some other normal vitamin which fulfills the daily rda of vitamin a and that too a 30 or 40 percent percentage of that as beta carotene?
Avatar m tn While the risk of developing lung cancer at the age of 41 is small, that risk is real. And, for early detection and peace of mind, you should definitely have a chest X-ray now and, assuming that you will be able to stick with the decision to engage in smoking cessation and never smoke again, it would be prudent for you to have a chest X-ray on an annual basis over the next 3-5 years.
Avatar n tn Hi, There is no clear association between a prior lung cancer and a new primary skin cancer. It is possible to have metastasis of the lung cancer to the skin, but I understand that you have early lung disease so this sounds unlikely.
Avatar n tn If low risk for lung cancer, no follow-up is necessary. If high risk for lung cancer (e.g., history of smoking), consider follow-up CT chest in 12 months.
Avatar n tn my pharmacey was out of cozaar and they gave me losartan,.
514586 tn?1211451717 Hi, Cement dust would contain silica and this can be related to the development of lung cancer. A problem with this risk factor is the difficulty in quantifying what constitutes a significant amount in relation to the occupational exposure. If there are findings in the lung already in the imaging study, then you could discuss the possibility of doing a biopsy with the doctor in order to confirm if there is cancer or not.
Avatar n tn I have had 2 spontanious phemothorax and recieved surgery the 2nd time around. This was about 3 years ago. I had a CT scan a few weeks ago for something else and they found a 8mm nodule. Could that be scar tissue? Is there any connection with spontanious phemothorax's and lung cancer? Thanks for any input!
Avatar m tn Once again, my best advice is that you have a two-way conversation with your doctor or one experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer and the application of the Guidelines to your specific situationl. I believe that you may find this Mayo Clinic summary of CT Lung Cancer Screening to be of interest: http://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar f tn Simply having an infection at one time can create this situation. And that you were a smoker puts you at higher risk for benign lung nodules. Congrats on quitting, by the way! That's fantastic and hard to do! https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/317531#symptoms This article gives the basics on lung nodules. This article states that most lung nodules are noncancerous. https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar f tn Before your first lung cancer screening, you will need to schedule a lung cancer screening counseling and shared decision-making visit with your doctor to discuss the benefits and risks of lung cancer screening. You and your doctor can decide whether lung cancer screening is right for you.
Avatar f tn Am i at risk of lung cancer if i have hpv ?
Avatar n tn Smoking is a risk factor for several cancers including lung, bladder, esophageal, kidney, laryngeal, oropharyngeal, stomach, and pancreatic cancer. Just like in any risk factor, a patient who smokes may or may not develop any of these cancers. Smoking also places one to develop heart and lung diseases. COPD is an example of a lung disease that is caused by smoking. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn could it be anything other then cancer in my lung, my family has a history of lung cancer, and I quit smoking in 2001. could the pain in my butt be related to the nodule in my lung? could the kidney be affected? please tell me it's probably nothing more then a cyst.. I'm 54 years old and already went through the grind.. I'm a postive person, but still quite frightened at the prospect of having to go though it all again! I appreciate any responses ..
Avatar n tn Just got the results of my lung CT. 8 nodules from 3mm to 6 mm - both lungs. Report says nodules do not appear calcified. "Conclusion is that there are bilateral pulmonary nodules which are considered to be indeterminate due to their small size and lack of calcification."Do I understand correctly that lack of calcification is a negative sign that there may be a possible cancer?
Avatar n tn Studies have looked at whether people who use hair dye products or people who regularly work with them have an increased risk of bladder cancer, leukemia, multiple myeloma, Hodgkin disease, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, lung cancer, breast cancer, oral cancer, and cervical cancer. The evidence from these studies remains quite inconsistent. Most of the available evidence does not support a link to cancer risk.
Avatar n tn My Father has small cell lung cancer. He is 64 and he is taking chemo. The tumor is actually responding really well to the chemo but I have a couple questions about his diet right now as this is my main concern because he is weak and has no appetite. I am overwhelmed with what he should eat and what he should avoid and have a hard time getting someone to tell me the answers. The doctors have stated right after chemo, there is a down period...
426937 tn?1203591927 The chemotherapy is focused for a colon cancer, and the drugs that are used do not confer protection for lung cancer. Colon cancer tends to produce small clusters of metastasis - it is atypical Hence, the biopsy was explored. The biopsy would of course involve a needle. Local anesthesia to the area to be punctured is usually given. I'm uncertain whether your previous biopsy for the prostate would make you less anxious or more so. Stay positive.
1349377 tn?1276705526 I just read an article today on msnbc talking about vit B-6 deficiencies in smokers and a relationship to lung cancer.
Avatar f tn I'm on 27 days of Diltriazam and some wierd side effects are still there. I'm getting use to the uncomfortable gas and am keeping the constipation at bay with Miralax. I have had many headaches and lots of wierd tired spells. Will Cozar help with the chest pains from the MVP?
Avatar f tn However, in this case, there is no mass in the lung at all, only something in the bone. It would be pretty unlikely for cancer in the lung to present in this manner. The question would be if the finding in the bone appears malignant. If this was the case, it would likely have been discussed with you. An abnormal bone island or cyst is not cancer, but due to its presence, it may produce pain. Discuss the nature of the shoulder finding with the doctor and make a plan as to what's next.
