I have tachycardia and have a lot of questions also. I am taking Cozaar for diabetic kidney problem. Is Cozaar a calcium blocker or and ACE inhibitor. I don't know one from the other. I only know what a beta blocker is. Which I was taking for years and years but now have stopped in order to see if I can wake up. Having terrible problems with falling asleep and being drowsy all the time.

I've been taking cozaar 100mg and amiloretic for 3 months I have stopped it for 4 days now my feet ankles are swollen and I have mild headaches

In my opinion, experience and search Coreg is the best and main medication (with other pills) if you have low EF. Up until the EF improves like a year or more good to be on Coreg. If your doctor says not for you, ask him to explain why?

I got on Cozaar for my tx induced high BP specifically for this reason! I had read studies about Cozaar being beneficial for ED, Fibrosis, and depression...and asked my GP to switch me from diuretic style BP drugs to the ARB class. I did notice benefits in ED function after a few weeks, and also definitely noticed a more positive mood. I am hoping there will also be an impact on my stage II fibrosis after my SVR, and will do a follow up Fibro-Sure test next year to check for any changes.

Thanks for your input....this rise in BP is definitely a new thing....no change in any meds etc.....I have felt that perhaps my kidneys may be developing problems based on my last blood work that was over a year ago. Both BUN and creatinine were more elevated than I would like but was told to not worry about it. As for palpitations....have had those for years and that's why the beta blocker.....occasional flushing/sweating.

They initially wanted to put me on Lisinopril, but I was on that previously and I had a terrible, nagging cough the entire time. I've read that ACE Inhibitors are preferable to ARBs, though, when it comes to CHF. Should I try another ACE, or would all of them be likely to cause a cough since the Lisinopril did? Or is the Cozaar good enough? (Some places even suggest taking an ACE along with an ARB...is that a good idea?) Blood Thinners: Should I be taking one?

My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?

I read a study that showed an increase in platelets and albumin levels and subjects with liver disease. I will be watching the news on this. I saw an older study that showed Losartan to be just as good as Nadolol (Propranalol) at lowering portal pressure but they had a later study that supposedly still shows Nadolol to be better . If it is even almost as good, it might be worth the risk to get rid of some liver scarring for stage 4's like my husband.

Hi recently I had pain on my adominal, usually the pain is on the right upper abdomen and the pain seem to move to lower left and right. I haven't did my kidney function test yet but I already did liver function test and my ALT is 9 U/L does this low ALT indicate that I have kidney issues?
