cozaar and hydrochlorothiazide

My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?

I got on Cozaar for my tx induced high BP specifically for this reason! I had read studies about Cozaar being beneficial for ED, Fibrosis, and depression...and asked my GP to switch me from diuretic style BP drugs to the ARB class. I did notice benefits in ED function after a few weeks, and also definitely noticed a more positive mood. I am hoping there will also be an impact on my stage II fibrosis after my SVR, and will do a follow up Fibro-Sure test next year to check for any changes.

I've been taking cozaar 100mg and amiloretic for 3 months I have stopped it for 4 days now my feet ankles are swollen and I have mild headaches

I noticed I had put on about 10 pounds and new I was under more stress than usual.. Lost the weight and got life under control and every thing BP wise went back to normal..

I think after this month, that will be 3 months on losartin(cozaar), I will see how my blood work is then add vasotec to the cozaar wait 3 months check my blood work and make a decision on dropping cozaar for vasotec. It was first published as far as I can see that losartan reduces fibrosis in 2000, that sure seems much to long a time lag between discovery and clinical use and I'm sure it is that way across medicine.

I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?

Thank you so much for the information I knew that there are medications that didn't deplete potassium but I couldn't find which ones. right now I'm taking hydrochlorothiazide and Lisinopril and when I started to take the hydrochlorothiazide I kept ending up in the hospital because my potassium level kept dropping mainly because I have had some problems with diarrhea so no matter how much potassium rich foods I hate I couldn't keep my potassium level any higher than 3.

s advocate, I want to be armed with good information before we talk to his primary. He presently is not taking the Cozaar or Plavix and I am worried.

I have been taking Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide (HTCZ) for high blood pressure since May 2007. Recently I have a feeling that the Hydrochlorothiazide is not working as it used to be. There are studies going on at Johns Hopkins concerning cozaar to see if it can stop or reverse the growth of aortas, which it has done in mice. My son has taken Cozaar and his beta blocker for three years and his aorta has not grown wider...so this is good news!

Just wanted to know if losartan(Cozaar) is the best option for an alcoholic with gout and high blood pressure? Of course, the best scenario would be to completely delete alcohol out of the equation, but it is not an option at this time for the person involved.

I will be transitioning to propanolol 20 mg (and hydrochlorothiazide) twice daily soon - my doctor wants me to transition by taking propanolol - 1/2 of 20 mg twice a day for one week and then the full 20 mg twice daily. Why? Won't that cause rebound hypertension? Thanks.

This is a follow up to my April 23 posting concerning my severe sweating. Since my doc does not think my problem is thyroid based, I decided to try a different approach. On May 12, I stopped taking HCTZ. I had read that some had had problems with HCTZ and sweating. Gradually, I seemed to have less sweating. Also, the feeling of being hot most of the time seemed to lessen. It is summer, and I do get hot, but others are hot, also. When I do sweat, it seems like a more normal sweat.

In my opinion, experience and search Coreg is the best and main medication (with other pills) if you have low EF. Up until the EF improves like a year or more good to be on Coreg. If your doctor says not for you, ask him to explain why?

I have recently stopped taking Coreg 6.25ng and started on Cozaar 50mg to manage my blood pressure which is working out really great according to measurements. I was weaned from Coreg by taking just my dosage at night and skipping the morning one for two weeks and then to stop. Genetic's doctor spoke of two beta blocking drugs for 'aorta root dilatation'. Atenalo and Cozaar. In reading about these in pill book, I already suffer from cold spots in the extremities, kidney problems at times and several of the other nasty's listed as side effects, etc. Have a hard time keeping weight on me[130 lbs -5' 5 1/2"], low body temperature [97]. Hello, I was having the numbness and tingling while taking hydrochlorothiazide. I would stop taking it and the numbness/tingle would go away, take it again, and it would come right back. Not sure if he is taking hydrochlorothiazide. They had me on it for edema. I have swelling in my hands and ankles, all tests neg except for CMV. Battling this since April 2008. Hands so swollen, can't open bottles, hold a pen, hold a phone or peel the label off the top of yogurts..ect..

They initially wanted to put me on Lisinopril, but I was on that previously and I had a terrible, nagging cough the entire time. I've read that ACE Inhibitors are preferable to ARBs, though, when it comes to CHF. Should I try another ACE, or would all of them be likely to cause a cough since the Lisinopril did? Or is the Cozaar good enough? (Some places even suggest taking an ACE along with an ARB...is that a good idea?) Blood Thinners: Should I be taking one?
