Avatar m tn I forgot to mention: When I was admitted to the hospital, my blood pressure was 195/99 with a heart rate of 98. I've been checking my blood pressure three times daily since I started taking the losartan and on average it's around 125/75, with an average heart rate of 80.
Avatar m tn For me I get a skipped heart beat, and then other times I get a skipped heart beat followed by faster heart beats that last for a few beats and then return to a normal heart rate. These types of arrythmias where my heart would speed up and then slow down have only been occuring since last week when I have been having to take my pro-air asthma inhaler. Before then I would just get my normal feeling of a skipped beat and occassional heart fluttering. These are new.
1198633 tn?1341182388 I have recently stopped taking Coreg 6.25ng and started on Cozaar 50mg to manage my blood pressure which is working out really great according to measurements. I was weaned from Coreg by taking just my dosage at night and skipping the morning one for two weeks and then to stop. Since about a week after I cut down to once a day I started to notice a constant pounding heart.
Avatar n tn Cozaar is what my husband is taking for regular heart rate due to a past heart attack. However, it has side effects of chronic lack of energy and the big one of erectile dysfunction. What are some other alternatives?

Avatar m tn Should I still be experiencing shortness of breath from heart problem? Know my max heart rate when exercising should be around 165 for my age. Where should it be when I'm running or lifting weights? Or is it safe for me to try and do distance running and weight lifting? I've always been athletic and had a difficult time not going all out when exercising. I am also on an ace inhibitor and a beta blocker. Coreg 7.5mg and Cozaar 25mg.
Avatar n tn Cardizem is a calcium channel blocker and is used to treat hypertension, angina pain and certain heart rhythm disorders. Cozaar belongs to a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. This keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow and reduces the risk of strokes. It is also used to slow long term kidney damage in Type 2 diabetics who also have high blood pressure. Potassium Iodide is not used as a diuretic.
Avatar m tn , lower pulse rate. rarely have Arrythmia now. Take one Cozaar 50mgs daily. BP recently about 165/85. Pulse rate 37 this morning prior to medication. Usually Pulse is 39/42. Avatar f tn In my opinion, experience and search Coreg is the best and main medication (with other pills) if you have low EF. Up until the EF improves like a year or more good to be on Coreg. If your doctor says not for you, ask him to explain why?
Avatar n tn There are studies going on at Johns Hopkins concerning cozaar to see if it can stop or reverse the growth of aortas, which it has done in mice. My son has taken Cozaar and his beta blocker for three years and his aorta has not grown wider...so this is good news!
Avatar n tn Genetic's doctor spoke of two beta blocking drugs for 'aorta root dilatation'. Atenalo and Cozaar. In reading about these in pill book, I already suffer from cold spots in the extremities, kidney problems at times and several of the other nasty's listed as side effects, etc. Have a hard time keeping weight on me[130 lbs -5' 5 1/2"], low body temperature [97]. 1246614 tn?1268684275 I had mine repaired 7 years ago and a couple of years ago I started having shortness of breath, dull pain in my heart and now my left ventricle is slightly enlarged. I just started on cozaar, that is the only medicine I am on. My cardiologist seems to feel the time is coming soon, probably in the next 6-12 months. Any thoughts on the subject.
116881 tn?1189755823 Yes, that does sound like sinus arrhythmia. Essentially when we breath in our heart rate rises and when we breath out it slows down. In general the difference is maybe 10 or so bpm. When it starts to reach a difference of maybe around 30 is when it is deemed sinus arrhythmia. I get it myself sometimes. I don't think it is anything to be concerned about. I am not even sure they know why it happens. If the rate starts to really elevate then it might be a concern.
Avatar m tn I am 76, had only one episode of tachycardia at 74 1/2, was medicated with two beta blockers, weaned off one with no problem, have weight-trained and run (now jog) for 35+ years, have large right atrium, take cozaar with no problems, and accepted the operation for a pacemaker set on at 60 (it was 40 to 50 bpm from years of running) with no problems. I have not had any further problems since the original flutter was easily stopped by cardioversion. Blood pressure is well controlled.
Avatar f tn Have had two by-pass surgeries, one heart attack and valve replacement and now in CHF. My EF was about 35% but dropped to 23% after a reaction to prednisone taken for a allergic response to the dye used in heart cath. My problem seems to be my normal heart rate is running about 60 to 63 going up to about 70 when exercising (little treadmilling) My meds are 50mg cozaar...
1008841 tn?1293598960 I got on Cozaar for my tx induced high BP specifically for this reason! I had read studies about Cozaar being beneficial for ED, Fibrosis, and depression...and asked my GP to switch me from diuretic style BP drugs to the ARB class. I did notice benefits in ED function after a few weeks, and also definitely noticed a more positive mood. I am hoping there will also be an impact on my stage II fibrosis after my SVR, and will do a follow up Fibro-Sure test next year to check for any changes.
Avatar f tn since my Dr. adjusted my meds and added some. I take Lopressor, Norvasc and Cozaar, Zaroxolyn and one for thyroid and menopause. I hope this hopes...let us know what you decide. Best of luck and God bless.
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar m tn I noticed I had put on about 10 pounds and new I was under more stress than usual.. Lost the weight and got life under control and every thing BP wise went back to normal..
Avatar m tn I think after this month, that will be 3 months on losartin(cozaar), I will see how my blood work is then add vasotec to the cozaar wait 3 months check my blood work and make a decision on dropping cozaar for vasotec. It was first published as far as I can see that losartan reduces fibrosis in 2000, that sure seems much to long a time lag between discovery and clinical use and I'm sure it is that way across medicine.
Avatar m tn I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?
Avatar m tn METOPROLOL, PLAVIX, COZAAR, ISOSOR MONO-SULFATE,VYTORIN, AND OF LATE, RANEXA. THIS LAST ONE, RANEXA, WORKS VERY WELL WITH ME IN STOPPING THE ANGINA I WAS GETTING WHICH WAS BECOMING ALMOST CHRONIC. IT ALLOWS ME TO EXERCISE AND FUNCTION ALMOST AS WELL AS BEFORE. HOWEVER, I REALLY LIKE TO EAT A !/2 GRAPERUIT IN THE MORNING AND THE MANUFACTURES SAYS YOU SHOULD NOT TAKE GRAPEFRUIT PRODUCTS WITH RANEXA. i WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY. IS IT DANGEROUS IN THAT LIVER, KIDNEY OR OTHER ORGAN WOULD BE DAMAGED.
