Cozaar and diuretic

Common Questions and Answers about Cozaar and diuretic

cozaar

Avatar n tn Losartan alone, also known as Cozaar does not have a diuretic. But Losartan with HCTZ is also known as Hyzaar. Don't assume yours has the diuretic in it. Ask the pharmacist.
Avatar n tn I've been taking cozaar 100mg and amiloretic for 3 months I have stopped it for 4 days now my feet ankles are swollen and I have mild headaches
1008841 tn?1293598960 I got on Cozaar for my tx induced high BP specifically for this reason! I had read studies about Cozaar being beneficial for ED, Fibrosis, and depression...and asked my GP to switch me from diuretic style BP drugs to the ARB class. I did notice benefits in ED function after a few weeks, and also definitely noticed a more positive mood. I am hoping there will also be an impact on my stage II fibrosis after my SVR, and will do a follow up Fibro-Sure test next year to check for any changes.
Avatar m tn They initially wanted to put me on Lisinopril, but I was on that previously and I had a terrible, nagging cough the entire time. I've read that ACE Inhibitors are preferable to ARBs, though, when it comes to CHF. Should I try another ACE, or would all of them be likely to cause a cough since the Lisinopril did? Or is the Cozaar good enough? (Some places even suggest taking an ACE along with an ARB...is that a good idea?) Blood Thinners: Should I be taking one?
Avatar n tn my pharmacey was out of cozaar and they gave me losartan,.
1090984 tn?1463769850 I am on 10mg lisinopril and 12.5 of a Diuretic. My fingers have been swelling up so bad the last 3 months to the point I had to have my rings cut off. My doctor doesn't seem concerned, just gave me another Diuretic 12.5 to take it when I swell up again. Will that lower my BP a lot or make me feel weird? I never heard of anyone taking that much unless they have CHF. I am a little concered why my fingers are so puffy all the time.
Avatar m tn I noticed I had put on about 10 pounds and new I was under more stress than usual.. Lost the weight and got life under control and every thing BP wise went back to normal..
Avatar m tn I think after this month, that will be 3 months on losartin(cozaar), I will see how my blood work is then add vasotec to the cozaar wait 3 months check my blood work and make a decision on dropping cozaar for vasotec. It was first published as far as I can see that losartan reduces fibrosis in 2000, that sure seems much to long a time lag between discovery and clinical use and I'm sure it is that way across medicine.
Avatar m tn I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?
Avatar f tn s advocate, I want to be armed with good information before we talk to his primary. He presently is not taking the Cozaar or Plavix and I am worried.
Avatar n tn There are studies going on at Johns Hopkins concerning cozaar to see if it can stop or reverse the growth of aortas, which it has done in mice. My son has taken Cozaar and his beta blocker for three years and his aorta has not grown wider...so this is good news!
Avatar n tn At this point viagra was not working fully, and even when I got erect it felt less full and smaller. I went to a urologist who took me off the testosterone for 2 months, and then ran some tests, and testosterone levels came back normal. He also tested for venemous leaks and said the blood flow was fine, just 1 point or so below normal. After that all he did was give me more viagra (no more testing?) I feel hopeless, so here I am trying to figure out on my own what's causing all of this.
Avatar f tn Just wanted to know if losartan(Cozaar) is the best option for an alcoholic with gout and high blood pressure? Of course, the best scenario would be to completely delete alcohol out of the equation, but it is not an option at this time for the person involved.
Avatar m tn This might be more suited to another forum but the others were closed to comments. Anyways, I'm a 50 year old male that's been having some issues with altitude illness. Last year I had a bout with hypertension as well. This may have resulted from residing at high altitude I'm not sure, but my work requires me to spend time at altitude. Since I will be returning again, I would like to make acclimatization as painless as possible.
Avatar n tn This happened to me too! I stopped the diuretic and put on 15lbs. in few days of water. I never had this much water me when I was put on diuretics. It has been weeks and the water is not coming off no matter what I do. Did you loose your rebound edema and if so, how long? How much did you put on and loose? This is scary!
Avatar f tn In my opinion, experience and search Coreg is the best and main medication (with other pills) if you have low EF. Up until the EF improves like a year or more good to be on Coreg. If your doctor says not for you, ask him to explain why?
1198633 tn?1341182388 I have recently stopped taking Coreg 6.25ng and started on Cozaar 50mg to manage my blood pressure which is working out really great according to measurements. I was weaned from Coreg by taking just my dosage at night and skipping the morning one for two weeks and then to stop. Since about a week after I cut down to once a day I started to notice a constant pounding heart.
Avatar n tn Genetic's doctor spoke of two beta blocking drugs for 'aorta root dilatation'. Atenalo and Cozaar. In reading about these in pill book, I already suffer from cold spots in the extremities, kidney problems at times and several of the other nasty's listed as side effects, etc. Have a hard time keeping weight on me[130 lbs -5' 5 1/2"], low body temperature [97]. Blood pressure today-108 / 60.
212059 tn?1292938529 I was told the same thing and was put on the Hydrocolorot diuretic by my Primary Care Phsician but I still had the PVC's. When I visited my Cardiologist, he took me straight off of them!! I too like you had Xanax prescribled to me as they were the only thing that helped. My doctor made me stop them as they were only for short term use and guess what? the PVC's returned. Got used to them now but can still be bothersome, especially the dizzines/light heads.
Avatar n tn Cozaar is what my husband is taking for regular heart rate due to a past heart attack. However, it has side effects of chronic lack of energy and the big one of erectile dysfunction. What are some other alternatives?
1246614 tn?1268684275 Before I had my mitral valve repaired in 2002 the ventricale had enlarged to about where it is now and the cozaar brought it back to within normal limits for a year or so, maybe it will work again but in any event I think I am going to push for surgery. Putting it off for an extra year is really just prolonging what is bound to happen and might make things worse. I just hope permenant damage has not already occurred.
Avatar m tn , lower pulse rate. rarely have Arrythmia now. Take one Cozaar 50mgs daily. BP recently about 165/85. Pulse rate 37 this morning prior to medication. Usually Pulse is 39/42. Has been for years. Athlete when young may explain low pulse to some extent. Clearly, BP 165/85 too high still. Plan to take a herbal treatment claimed to cure Atrial Fibrillatiion. That high BP, suggestions please?
Avatar n tn no not at all it could have a really bad side effect you should go ask ur doctor
Avatar f tn I do, when I skipped my diuretic pill. I have gained up to 3 pounds the next day. If you are on a diuretic pill don't skip it. If you aren't on a diuretic pill you should talk to your doctor. You need a prescription from your doctor for a diuretic pill.
