Coughing when you laugh

Common Questions and Answers about Coughing when you laugh

coughing

I would see your doc again if you are still having issues with coughing. It is better safe than sorry in any case, perhaps you need a chest xray to make sure that your infection hasn't progressed. Personally, sometimes it takes time for a cough to get better even when the infection seems to be clearing. I have literally coughed for months after a severe infection. But, like I said, run it by your doc.
I am 52. When I laugh out loud I seem to have to catch my breat and cough. I dont or never have smoked. I dont have ins. so I cant do see a dr.
Do you have any other symptoms from your cough? Are you affected when doing exercise? Asthma can present with cough, shortness of breath, wheezing and chest tightness, any of which can be brought on by various triggers, such as exercise, allergies, cold air, strong emotions. Another common cause of cough is GERD. Do you have any symptoms of reflux, such as heart burn? For some individuals their only symptom is a cough, triggered by the stomach contents making it's way into the esophagus.
It can sometimes take up to 6 month for that sensitivity and cough caused by laughing to clear-up completely.Over time, you should experience gradual improvement. If you don't, you should see your doctor and not wait 6 months.
When I laugh my heart skips beats. Why would that happen ?
Also may want to consider acid reflux/GERD, especially if the coughing is triggered when you lay down. You may have no other symptoms.
Oh dear, I'm 19 weeks and that has been happening to me since I started my 12 week mark.
I have constant sinus drainage and my cough usually gets me gasping for breath when I laugh...odd I know. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
Hello and hope you are doing well. It could be due to allergens. Repeated episodes of cough, runny nose and throat irritation could most probably be due to allergens. These are substances like pollen, dust, animal dander, certain foods, insect venoms and certain medications. Exposure to allergens causes a runny nose with a resultant post nasal drip where secretions from the nose go backward into the throat and irritate causing cough.
I think when I have a lot of air trapped in my esophagus or stomach it causes my PAC's to act up. coughing causes you to take in a lot of air as well when you or in between coughing spells. I hope you feel better soon.
also, I don't have trouble breathing when this happens. only when I breathe in heavy or laugh, you can slightly head the crackling sound. I can't pinpoint the cause of it. it's not a dairy thing, because it happens with nondairy items AKA a turkey sandwich (no cheese) from Panera. I do notice with big spicy meals it also happens. and big warm meals, but not always. other night I had ravioli, and no coughing of muscous after. definitely difficult to figure this out.
I take an allergy pill daily and am usually unaffected, no runny noses or such, even when it's pollen-y and smokey out. It's just weird that it comes about when I laugh. I will periodically cough up this mucus-stuff even when I am not laughing, but it is not in the amounts that it would be if I were, you know, laughing. Also, I do not smoke or live around anyone who does. Any possible insight would be appreciated.
Usually coughing when you have a change in your breathing pattern while laughing or exhaling deeply is a sign that your asthma is out of control. The feeling you have described of something sitting on your chest, especially when you lie flat could be due to your postnasal drip. However it is more likely that it is another sign that your asthma is out of control. A peak flow meter does not measure changes in the small airways of your lungs.
Take a Prednizone for three days and once they prescribed antibiotics for 7 days. Jeb... when you say you lose your breath, is it as if your windpipe just closes without letting in any air? Thats what it does to me. Scarry as hell.... feels like minutes. Not one ounce of air and then bang! it opens back up but with a somewhat restrictive feeling. Happens at night and even a few times outside in the cold when I coughed real hard or sneezed. Have been sleeping sitting up for a month and a half..
i have had urine leakage since i gave birth to my son 17 years ago. it's not too terribly bad though. it happens when i cough, sneeze, laugh or do jumping jacks. it has gotten a little worse as i have aged. a relative had the prob chronically (she had to wear a pad all the time) and she had surgery to correct (i think they tightenend the tissue that holds the bladder in place & put a "sling" under it to prevent it from drooping again).
hard to quite when you have so much stress in your life all the time.. thanks love9. do your coughing spells ever go away or/and does anyone have any more ideas?
Hey, No I do not have any of my results yet. I am scheduled to see the doctor next week to go over everything but this pressure on top of my head has started just his past week. Have you been told anything? Yes I feel the pressure when I laugh, cough, sneeze, bend over, or try to run.
You know your pregnant when.......
I eat a lot of extra strength Halls, it helps a little... when I'm totally quiet I cough less, if I laugh or temp to sing, coughing sets in, usually after eating I cough... I've been on different medication, my doctor (who is not a good listener) has done or sent me away to do different types of test and they can't find anything wrong...
I really hope it is just silent reflux. Best of luck to you all as well and please post if you find out what it is and what works for you. Thanks, Michelle This discussion is related to coughing and losing breath.
Yes mommytobe lol When you all of a sudden become this big swelled up balloon ;((
you know you are pregnant when you wake up with extreme heart burn and you have morning sickness because of this, oh and i'm 30 weeks and 4 days!
It began in 1976 and re occurs every 5 to 6 years. I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out.
It has been a couple of weeks that I cough so terrible when I laugh. I can't even laugh normal as I used to. Very severe constant cough kills me. I do not have any symptoms for flu or cold or fever or even mucus. Everything looks normal but the moment I laugh hard, I cough so dry and bad that is burns my chest and I feel very uncomfortable for a while even after it stops. I just requested my regular lipid profile test but this time I asked my doctor to request TB test with that too.
But with lighter laughing she can laugh longer before the coughing starts. Normally with lighter laughing it's not a problem as she has to laugh longer than normal for the coughing to start (I.
every time i cough and my heaad hurts i remember what one of those wonderful Ns's had said she said " Nothing is bad until when you cough your head hurts" And she said that along with the whole pushing issue (for BM) anyway she totally dismissed me --and sent me on my way-- but then i get a little grumpy remembering what she said to me Sometimes I just wish i could get away with that wake up bonehead slap!
I get this when i have a flu which involves coughing bouts, and also a few years back when I had Hooping cough. i usually am sitting at the computer chair when it happens and begin coughing, and come to a few seconds late on the floor. As I am a heavy bloke, resulted in fractured ribs, internal bruising and bad carpet burn / lump on my forehead. Last few times (about a week apart) it was aggravated by smoking whilst coming out of a flu. Stinking cigarettes...
During pregnancy incontinence is very common, so it is likely that you just peed a little when you coughed.
