Avatar_f_tn when i start to cough i cough till im able to stop coughing. Sometimes when i cough my head starts to hurt real bad. im tired of coughing all the time wondering if anyone may know what may be wrong with me? Im trying to get in to see a dr but it will b a few days or i go to the hospital.
Avatar_n_tn It only lasts for a few seconds, but it's scary and embarassing. I am a businessman and often when I talk on the phone I get to coughing and have to hand the phone to someone else. Each year that passes, the cough gets worse. The tests show that the most normal thing about me is my lungs. It seems that sinus drainage or food or saliva sometimes goes down into my bronchial area when there is no logical reason for it.
416848_tn?1203286355 Hi Need to are sooo not alone. As I read your post, it was like I was reading something that I had written. I've been hooked on Vicodin and when I couldn't get more, I somehow was able to get another prescription for something else, equally addicting. My doctor wrote a script for Tramadol (Ultram) saying it's not near as habit forming, and it's only a mild narcotic, etc. Well that turned out to be bull****.
2010625_tn?1329375656 It's very common to use one medication to treat many symptoms and/or diagnosis. It really amazes me when I look at med sheets at work and I see 2 people on the same medication and one person is taking it for seizure, and another for bipolar as a mood stabilizer. Personally I have found Depakote and seroquel work best so far for me. For others it may be to strong, or not even touch their symptoms, which brings me back to my point of psyche meds being all trial and error.
Avatar_f_tn Since March this year I have had two courses of prednisone which seems to be the only thing to stop me coughing. BUT two weeks after I have stopped taking the prednisone I start coughing again. Over the last two weeks I have had coughing fits which are uncontrollable and at the same time I am sneezing and my eyes are watering.

287996_tn?1312027282 the bodies normal reaction to cough is the body telling us something is wrong w. the body and is trying to rid it of whatever it is....could be the heart was effected and the electrical pattern of the heart is misfiring even if you don't feel it, could be an issue with your lungs or ribs,,,,,and if your heart rate is still elevated definately go see someone sooner rather than later.
Avatar_n_tn I have learned, however, that I also get wheezing, I just can't hear it, but others tell me they can hear it, plus the gasping for air when I'm walking or talking or (God forbid) trying to do both at once. I hope you feel better and find your coughing/asthma easier to control.
450439_tn?1249236838 Thank you...I'm trying to watch the Hallmark channel, sitting in bed, "trying" to think of more pleasant things....I'm upset with myself because I feel like my whole day is ruined, and it's so nice and warm outside right now, but I'm scared it'll happen again, it's like I'm just sitting around waiting for "death".....sorry but it's like, why carry on with my day "if" it's just going to happen again, sorry don't mean to sound so pathetic.....
Avatar_m_tn I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out. The last one about 2 years ago stopped me breathing in and out completely for 10 to 15 seconds and I thought I had bought it.
206807_tn?1331939784 He was always a heavy drinker but he has become a drunk. I’ve tried to talk to him when he was sober and explain, regardless of what his Dr. told him, he is going to die a horrible death if he continues. His response was he is ready to die anyway. My response was, if you’re ready to check out, then check out but there is a hell of a lot better ways to do it than this. He got quiet then changed the subject so maybe I struck a nerve.
Avatar_n_tn i have been taking a medicine for my high blood pressure and since that medicine I have been having cronic coughing. When I spoke with my health care provider they mentione dthat the medication for the blood pressure is causing the coughing and I cannot chnage the medication. Is it accurate that certain blood pressure medication causes cronic coughing.

Avatar_n_tn He is a pretty private person and would not go to the doctor knowing the costs. I am trying to convince him to go, or at least try to find affordable coverage in case something happens, but I am not sure how likely this is. So my question is how serious is his cough, and how concerned should we be? He did use to take Atanalol (not sure of the spelling). But does not anymore. Is there anything he can do to alleviate his cough given his condition? Thank you!
Avatar_n_tn When I am on this diet I feel well, and my coughing goes away. I started this diet when I read a book about candida. Recently I went to a doctor who treats things naturally, but was also a doctor. I had some tests done- and they said that the bacteria level in my gut was twice as much as it should have been, and my vitamin B levels were as low as they possibly could be. I went on antibiotics, then antifungals, and started taking vitamin b shots along with other supplements.
Avatar_f_tn Every thing was fine, no infection was found, but my throat bothered me to talk or swallow. By the time I went to the rheumatologist (04/08) that pain had decreased, and I had sensibility in the thyroid region. She was very patient and did a complete physical, emotional and mental evaluation. There, I found out that my C-Spine MRI shows a mild multilevel DDD.
Avatar_n_tn It's really horrible when someone comes up to me and they talk to me and I try to talk back and I'm making this gurgling noise of SNOT on my voicebox. I hope someone comes up with a cure soon. I was told that Oil of Oregano will work, but thus far I've not stuck to it. I've got the (wild Mediterranean) Oil of Oregano capsules at $20 for a 60 count. I shall see if this works...
1761287_tn?1313828387 (not the tub, just in the room) good luck to you both, you are doing a good job trying as much as possible to help this little guy even when funds are really limited...
Avatar_f_tn Just started to wean off 2 days ago. I was taking 8 to 10 hydros & 5 to 6 tramadols. I'm sick & tired of the chase. I have to do on my own since I've been to rehab twice & i can't put my husband through this again. Just needed to be heard & it definitely helps to hear everyone's stories.
Avatar_f_tn My mum took sleeping pill regularly so that when she went to hospital, she asked the hospital to give her sleeping pills to sleep for the first few days. The brand of sleeping pill in the hospital is different from what my mum takes so all of a sudden, she has mood swings. Despite this, I would still think that the sleeping pills is quite essential as you need to rest/sleep after the operation and this is almost impossible in the hospital. 4.
2015036_tn?1333001388 It caused aspiration pneumonia earlier this year, spent 3 days in the hospital and it made me sick for 5 months. I would definitely talk to your neuro when you see him/her and have that checked out. That was not easy to write, I cannot come up with words..most of you know what that is like. Get back to us..and good luck.
1232362_tn?1333139006 He did come down to participate in our lunch ritual but only attempted to eat, looked sad, and went under the kitchen table. Then almost failed in trying to jump up on a chair-I made him a little fort w/2 chairs so he could see out but have some privacy; later brought him back upstairs to the humidifier. He's still drinking on his own but clearly not breathing easy yet. Am I just expecting too much too fast? it is pneumonia after all, and I never recovered in a day or 2 when I had it..
1794638_tn?1345158661 Another Question. GT 1a , currently 9th week of triple tx with inc. I have had a bone breaker dry cough for about 3 weeks now. In the morning I wake up and my nasal & sinus's are so dry. The first thing I do is wash out with saline solution for about 3 minutes until I have some drainage, which usually my sinus's are packed. Then I start the coughing ritual for about 10 minutes. Bone breaking coughing!
467579_tn?1289406569 Just had a ctscan and except for the emphysema , which I already knew, there were no spot or nodes and my diaphragm looked good. I truly didn't mean to scare anyone, but I simply wanted to talk to an expert about research, and OMG you'd have thought I just blew up the Holy Grail!!! I will stay logged in. Dying2breath, cheer up, keep in touch and quit the cigs.
Avatar_f_tn I was diagnosed with Asthma approx 8 years ago. Though when it occurs though infrequent (1-2times a year or in my current situation not for 18mths) is quite severe & completely debililating. It's usually brought on by a sudden drop in temperature or onset by a flu/chest infection etc. Air conditioning & or any cold air is a complete no, no for me. At it's worst I am constantly coughing, choking & fighting for air, just trying to breathe & or talk sends me into fits.
Avatar_n_tn It sounds like it's mild like mine is and can be a great annoyance when trying to workout. You could try the over the counter meds for asthma, but they are not as effective as a prescription from the doctor. I hope this helps!
1416390_tn?1333905204 I am concerned that my Corgi/mix might have had heartworms for awhile now because this dry cough that he gets every now and then and I mean sometimes he don't get it for months but I just thought it was like excitement or like when you walk them and their collar chokes them, he gets these what I call fits and it sounds like a cough but yet like he's trying to spit something up cuz his heads hanging down while he's doing it and it seems like when I pat his sides and talk to him to soothe him it s
Avatar_n_tn Chronic cough is usually seen in cases of asthma, GERD or gastro esophageal reflux disease and sinusitis due to the post nasal drip. You should also talk to your doctor about whether this could be a bacterial infection, viral infection or tuberculosis. You should try steam inhalation, warm saline gargles, saline nasal drops and oral antihistamine medications and see if it helps with your symptoms. If you have symptoms of reflux, you should try some antireflux, antinausea medications.
