I have been coughing since September. I caught a bad flu and after that I can't stop coughing. I also went to Asia for the first time in October and with the recent typhoons there, could I have made it worse. I used Biaxin (anti-biotics), started with Symbicort (puffer), then on Alvesco and now I am on Nasacort, Advair and Aerius. Is this a post virus cough, asthma or something else...your thoughts?
Assuming that you all had the same virus, the “upper respiratory virus” is likely to have a more sustained effect on your asthmatic bronchial tubes than it did on those of your children and this effect could continue as a cause of your cough for some weeks or longer. Often when this occurs, an increase in ones regular asthma drugs until the cough finally subsides.
I cannot suggest that you make any changes in your usual asthma drugs or their doses.
I was given albuterol, and the first time I used it my lungs did open up (max FEV went from 350 to 475), I could breath better, but I also started coughing up some green phlegm. after a couple of days I had a low grade fever on and off. I went back, was given a z pack, and that seemed to help- no more coughing etc. But within the week I started to have night sweats and episodes of fever a couple of times a day, and have been coughing, sometimes productive, but mostly a dry cough.
If the child had an intestinal virus or bacteria, it would have to go quite the circuitous route to get into your your digestive tract, because airborne germs applies more to sneezing and coughing from colds.
Ill have an itch in a random place on my body and it will go away right away. I am also beginning to get stuffed up and have been coughing up yellow phlegm. I can tell its been somewhat hard for me to think. I have a feeling it has to do with a virus but do the symptoms sound at all like ms?
An awful cold virus was going through my house last week, and this weekend was my turn. Fever, headache, congestion and cough. I've been taking Tylenol every 4 hours since Saturday to try and keep my fever down. Fortunately, I had my checkup this morning and my doctor said everything seems fine, keep taking the Tylenol for fever and add Robitussin DM at night to help me get at least some sleep.
My husband still has it, and has to sit up in bed at night because he has difficulty catching his breath when his coughing episode happens. He went to the doctor last week and he only prescribed a cough med even though he said he heard a wheeze at the end of the expiration. Now, my 5 year old has gotten it again, same cough,-it is worse during the night with her coughing so long and hard that she has tears in her eyes. She may even have a low grade fever, but again only at night.
Today is September 9, 2010 i am sneezing, i vaguely ache all over, sore throat, and feel like crap.
Am 32 weeks and my daughter and husband got the virus today or we found out today and am kinda scare cuz IDC if am gonna get it if its going to affect the baby its Saturday and Dr office is close has anyone gone trough this???
I had the same thing, the coughing up the foam or thick spit. I had a lap nissan July 2009 and it failed, again March 2010 which has again failed. Now I vomit and burp etc all the time. Scheduled for an open Sept 23 in a few weeks. Not looking forward to a large incision with 8 day stay and more pain. Second failure was more coughing up the thick spit which turned into vomiting up everything, foods or liquids.
Can oral herpes cause excessive coughing and throat irritations that won't go away? Would the symptoms for elderly people who have herpes be more severe than someone younger? If someone with genital herpes contaminates objects(tv remote, keyboards, phones,etc) that are used with other people (which arent sexual items), what are the chances of the virus transmitting?And if so would they have hsv 1 or 2?
Two weeks ago, I had this strange cold, one day running nose, one day coughing, one day heavy muscus then coughing fits sometimes initiated by particular foods and sometimes no eating or cold air and night coughing fits( not every night) were more harsh with lots of phlegm and stomache gas and spitting out. I saw a doctor and prescribed Averin along with 3 other medicines-Lansoprazole, Tulobuterol tape, Cetirizine but with no apparent effect. What to do now?
Hi i have a 12 year old male staffie who has had 4 seizures over the past 4/5 months other than this and a few fatty lumps he eats well runs around and is very happy but for the past few days has started coughing normally first thing in the morning and when excited cough sounds like he has some thing stuck in his throat any advice ??
My Neice came to my house with coughing and then I started coughing now my husband is coughing all with in 4 days we are all sick ,sore throat,fever, constant coughing no up come me with dry heaves till my body is very sore .dont know what it is or where it came from but we are all catching it.

It sounds like this could be post-virus. Especially after what I have seen this year. We had a virus with fever and sore throat that moves into a head cold with chronic coughing and sneezing. and when it seems to be setting down it moves in to the lungs flaring back up into bronchitis with coughing that would last for weeks. It will completely drain you and leave you weak and lightheaded.
Hello, i am 34 years old, Male, (Never Married), (Never Smoke), (Never Drink) - i am having this severe cough problem since 2010/2011, every year i caught up by this severe cough sometime seasonal allergies (September to March) And sometime non-seasonal, at the start, from 2010 to 2015 i did not notice about it and i never went to any doctor to treat it, i thought it was a normal cough and when ever the cough caught me , it went away by its own, after 2/3/4 months of severe DRY cough.
I went to the E.R a couple of days ago,i was diagnosed with the flu & a stomach virus, was given antibiotics and since i've been coughing up rust colored phlegm.Am i coughing up my lung or maybe this is a result of the Meds i was prescribed have Any clue as to why rust colored phlegm possible Dark blood would be evident when i cough?
