I have been coughing since September. I caught a bad flu and after that I can't stop coughing. I also went to Asia for the first time in October and with the recent typhoons there, could I have made it worse. I used Biaxin (anti-biotics), started with Symbicort (puffer), then on Alvesco and now I am on Nasacort, Advair and Aerius. Is this a post virus cough, asthma or something else...your thoughts?
I was given albuterol, and the first time I used it my lungs did open up (max FEV went from 350 to 475), I could breath better, but I also started coughing up some green phlegm. after a couple of days I had a low grade fever on and off. I went back, was given a z pack, and that seemed to help- no more coughing etc. But within the week I started to have night sweats and episodes of fever a couple of times a day, and have been coughing, sometimes productive, but mostly a dry cough.
I have a 6 yr old that keeps throwing up all day yesterday and hasn't ate nothing yesterday but did have milk and he is developmentally delayed and speech impaired and has been coughing for atleast 6 months or longer but just started throwing up and need some advice please.
Assuming that you all had the same virus, the “upper respiratory virus” is likely to have a more sustained effect on your asthmatic bronchial tubes than it did on those of your children and this effect could continue as a cause of your cough for some weeks or longer. Often when this occurs, an increase in ones regular asthma drugs until the cough finally subsides.
I cannot suggest that you make any changes in your usual asthma drugs or their doses.
I'm freaking out! I'm a preschool teacher and one of my students threw up in school today. I know that I was just as susceptible yesterday when he was incubating it, but does the fact that it smelled awful in my room for 30 mins or so mean that I'm definitely getting it? Also, not to be gross, but one of my teacher friends was there when it happened and said the throwup looked like his breakfast came back like he ate something that didn't agree with him. Help!!!!
I’m 26 and am currently going through this situation, I cough a couple clear gellike balls up a day, and sometimes wake up from a cough attack. I am a chronic weed smoker, have been smoking for 4 years and used to smoke cigarettes when I was 14 until 23 years old, I will be going to my local doctors to get a referral for a scan, but I was just hoping someone could help me find out what these gel balls are ?
An awful cold virus was going through my house last week, and this weekend was my turn. Fever, headache, congestion and cough. I've been taking Tylenol every 4 hours since Saturday to try and keep my fever down. Fortunately, I had my checkup this morning and my doctor said everything seems fine, keep taking the Tylenol for fever and add Robitussin DM at night to help me get at least some sleep.
A week ago I was sick for the whole week with the flu. I had all the normal flu symptoms and was given notuss to try and control the violent cough I had. I had fever, headache, chills, aches, and would wake up during the night in coughing fits. I haven't had a fever in over a week and a half but I still have the hacking violent cough. I thought nothing of it until last night when I had a coughing fit and coughed up what appeared (and tasted like) blood.
Then my oldest got it, then my 2nd child, and then my husband. My husband still has it, and has to sit up in bed at night because he has difficulty catching his breath when his coughing episode happens. He went to the doctor last week and he only prescribed a cough med even though he said he heard a wheeze at the end of the expiration. Now, my 5 year old has gotten it again, same cough,-it is worse during the night with her coughing so long and hard that she has tears in her eyes.
They did manage to bring her back and no sooner did they kick us out of there! The doctor sure had a scared look on his face too. Lately she has been coughing up blood and her hand gets to tingling from time to time. She also gets short of breath pretty often. Without any insurance, where do we turn from here? Are there any places that do body scans at reasonable prices as we are not made of money.
Two weeks ago, I had this strange cold, one day running nose, one day coughing, one day heavy muscus then coughing fits sometimes initiated by particular foods and sometimes no eating or cold air and night coughing fits( not every night) were more harsh with lots of phlegm and stomache gas and spitting out. I saw a doctor and prescribed Averin along with 3 other medicines-Lansoprazole, Tulobuterol tape, Cetirizine but with no apparent effect. What to do now?

A number in our area that picked up the virus, were weakened to the point of contracting secondary pneumonia. Your symptoms sound similar, bad news is I have seen this run it course from 4 to 10 weeks. It is nasty, especially for those with pre-existing lung problems.
I went to the E.R a couple of days ago,i was diagnosed with the flu & a stomach virus, was given antibiotics and since i've been coughing up rust colored phlegm.Am i coughing up my lung or maybe this is a result of the Meds i was prescribed have Any clue as to why rust colored phlegm possible Dark blood would be evident when i cough?

Hi i have a 12 year old male staffie who has had 4 seizures over the past 4/5 months other than this and a few fatty lumps he eats well runs around and is very happy but for the past few days has started coughing normally first thing in the morning and when excited cough sounds like he has some thing stuck in his throat any advice ??

Two years ago I was admitted to the hospital to the hospital for coughing up blood . Being that my mother had TB. I told them I would come up positive every time I had the test . Prior to being admitted I had a significant amount of blood I was given IVs and started treatment for TB Now again I was at work and started coughing up blood .
Well, if you are coughing up blood, a responsible adult in your life should be told so you can be seen by a doctor. I doubt I have to state the obvious that inhalation of smoke from weed isn't good for you. but coughing up blood is something that requires medical care so you need to talk to your parents about seeing a doctor.
