Avatar_m_tn Okay so I feel I'm suffering from HIV anxiety even though I had a protected exposure with little to no risk after reading symptoms I started feeling a tickle in my throat and was coughing.....seems now I am coughing for no reason throughout the day and ending up with a sore throat. I wake up in the morning and my throat is fine....but soon after I think about coughing.....I do and continue to do so through the day and then AGAIN I have a sore throat at the end of the day.
Avatar_n_tn You should probably seek out the advice of an ENT doctor, or a pulmonary doctor. coughing until you gag and sometimes throw up doesn't sound like fun. Asthma can sometimes present that way, as can a lot of other problems. Get to the bottom of it. I don't know if it is related to your other problem or not.
Avatar_f_tn However, if the cough is severe and very forceful, there's a slight risk of pulling or loosening stitches that have been used during the surgery, which may or may not be a problem. Also, if you are coughing up colored phlegm (yellow, brown, green, etc) then you most definitely need to be seen by your doctor - it could mean an infection. I've also had a hysterectomy several years ago and I know how painful it can be to cough after an abdominal surgery.
Avatar_n_tn For 14 months I have had a really bad cough, so severe that I vomit on myself, I have been given a chest x ray, CT Scan, nothing has been found, however I have been on prednisone, cough syrup, antibiotics, in haler, my doctor has no idea and now they are sending me to see a pulmony doctor. I am so sick and can not sleep do to this illness.
Avatar_n_tn I went to the doctor and she told me to just take Mucinex which did nothing. Is there something else I can take to help me sleep?
Avatar_n_tn I am constantly coughing. People know when I am around just by hearing my cough. I do it so often, I have become used to it and carry on as if it is normal but I know that it isn't. I am fine for a while and suddenly I have to cough. Sometimes the cough turns into a fit and makes me feel like throwing up. Sometimes my eyes water, throat itches and it simply wears me out. I am convinced that I am suffering from allergies but my doctor wants to be sure that my lungs are ok.
Avatar_f_tn Hi i have a 12 year old male staffie who has had 4 seizures over the past 4/5 months other than this and a few fatty lumps he eats well runs around and is very happy but for the past few days has started coughing normally first thing in the morning and when excited cough sounds like he has some thing stuck in his throat any advice ??
Avatar_f_tn My Shih tzu keeps coughing like he is choking I'm taking him to the vet on Monday any clues what this could be and should I be alarmed?

I feel so so bad for him he is like my son an i dont know what i would do if he was to pass !! He is a inside cat .. but the weird thing about it all was last year when i first found out that i had Lupus the worse kind to have ..
Avatar_f_tn Have you been to a doctor? Couging up blood is always cause for concern. It may be nothing or it could be serious. Go and see a doctor!
Avatar_n_tn I cough up blood because I have bronchiectasis. My friend coughed up blood and immediately went in and found out she has lung cancer. You can cough up blood with a sinus infection. Go to the doctor because it "may be nothing" or can be serious.
1283791_tn?1276821914 been trying to make myself cough up stuff ever since to see if there was blookd and it was all clear.... i am hoping it was nothing and I am trying not to think about it...
Avatar_n_tn and he's perfectly well and happy otherwise? There's nothing wrong with that but there can sometimes be a build up of stomach acid just before they are due to eat. If you think that might be it, then splitting the food into 3 meals a day might help. But obviously that might not be the answer, so do mention this to your vet if it keeps happening.
Avatar_n_tn Two years ago I was admitted to the hospital to the hospital for coughing up blood . Being that my mother had TB. I told them I would come up positive every time I had the test . Prior to being admitted I had a significant amount of blood I was given IVs and started treatment for TB Now again I was at work and started coughing up blood .
Avatar_m_tn Hello and hope you are doing well. coughing up blood could be due to an infection a sinus infection or a lung infection. Sometimes trauma to the lungs can cause this or it could just be throat irritation. Therapy lies in treating the underlying cause. With your symptoms it is likely you may have developed respiratory infection . Please consult your primary care physician for further evaluation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar_n_tn what could be the cause of coughing up blood have been doing this since June of last year and doctors cannot get to the bottom of it, this is very concerning to me what could it be, they have ruled out tb, mono, valley fever, have even done a bronochsopy nothing showing up
Avatar_n_tn The cold eventually went away, but since then I have been consistently coughing up clear phlegm 10-20 times a day. Usually, it's just small amounts, and I cough it up to try and clear my lungs and throat. I went to my doctor about a month ago and he performed a lung function breathing test and checked my blood oxygen levels and said that everything was normal. So he prescribed Nasonex which I have been taking for about a week, but it doesn’t seem to have made much difference.
Avatar_n_tn I told him that I was not coughing up blood nor had I been coughing up blood. My family doctor then stated to me that I would cough up blood and then it would be too late for me. I have trusted my family doctor for some years, but I felt this was a very negative statement by him to me. I have deeply researched COPD, try to remain encouraged and I felt this doctor was giving me an immediate death sentence. This has greatly upset me.
Avatar_n_tn Well, you definitely need a work-up by a pulmonary specialist. That being said, coughing up blood maybe very serious, and then again may not be very serious, so don't think you necessarily have a fatal illness. There are many possibilities.
Avatar_m_tn Hi there, It is certainly possibly that this is a viral infection- that would be the most common cause, but the coughing up blood and weight loss makes this more concerning to me. I am not familiar with the rates of tuberculosis in Indonesia, but I think you should ask your doctor about this possiblity. You should have a chest xray and a TB test, in my opinion.
206807_tn?1331939784 coughing up blood sounds like lung/esophagus issues. Heavy drinking can cause esophageal cancer...has he been checked for that?

It often feels like something is caught in my throat just before i cough it up. This has been happening since August. What could it be ?
