coughing

I've been suffering for about a week but several months ago it was for almost an entire month Wake up inthe morning coughing up yellow / green mucus and then it goes clear but it's constant and so sticky - it won't even easily wash off the sides of the basin. Last time I used to wake up inthe middle of the night choking - really horrid problem and the lack f sleep only makes things worse.
I've been coughing up the same hard, yellow, reddish mucus for months and months. It became a lot more frequent lately and it seemed as if I had a sinus infection. I went to an ENT and he took a culture of "puss" coming from the top of my nasal cavity. The doctor called an told me that it was Staph and it should be curred with antibiotics. After reading several things on Staph, I believe I will go buy the topical ointment as well. Hopefully it will clear it up.
I thought nothing of it until last night when I had a coughing fit and coughed up what appeared (and tasted like) blood. It wasn't dark red but a light redish pink. Has this ever happened to anyone else? It has me kind of worried.
i can taste infection when i swallow and i keep coughing up mucus that has blood in it, what does blood in my mucus mean?
but spend anywhere between 2-8 hours coughing at night.. it is not a dry cough, in fact he seems to be bringing up a lot of mucus.. people have described it as an old mans cough and I would agree. it all started when he has a severe throat and chest infection... which cleared up with antibiotics, but the cough stayed.. this was 6 MONTHS AGO.. and he has not had one night since where he hasnt coughed. I have taken him to the doctors more times then i can remember..
Apparently fluid can seep from the back of the nose and go down the throat the brain reacts to stop the fluid going into the lungs which closes the voice box, this then stops you breathing, the brain then realises that the lungs arent working so wakes you up and that is why you wake up coughing and trying to get your breath, this is how it was explained to me. I have been told that it is not dangerous and that I will always wake up, it is just very stressfull.
I have never smoked and don't drink any coffee. I also found that coughing up the mucus only WORSENS the problem. So I have been trying to remain calm and not cough it up. I also saw my doctor who prescribed a nasal spray for possible post nasal drip. I don't think that helped. I had also started using Neti Pot for clearing my sinuses. And also started drinking Apple Cidar Vinegar. This all has helped a bit with the mucus problem. I don't think it is acid refux as I never have heartburn.
I had the same thing. I got it after an influenze bout a few years ago. After doctor's pills, allergy pills and several different types of inhalers that did nothing to improve the situation I was about ready to give up and in a despairing revalation realized I would have to live with this for the rest of my life. I did one last search on the internet and came across a posting that has starting to help me. My mucus is becoming "runnier" each day and my sinuses are clearing up.
) She also coughed up green mucous this morning, my mom saw that. I hate giving her medicine, but what else am I to do? She coughs alot, and has been sneezing ALOT. Should I give her the antibiotic? She spit over half of it back out. Her Daddy said to hold her nose closed next time I give it to her, and squirt in on the edge of her mouth. How do you think tha will work?
I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out. The last one about 2 years ago stopped me breathing in and out completely for 10 to 15 seconds and I thought I had bought it.
-I take Prilosec OTC every day for my cough (well, what was a chronic cough at one point). I realized that I had GERD when I woke up one night coughing up acid a few months ago. -I also take Advil Cold & Sinus every day (3 doses total, 1 dose every 4-5 hours). Surprisingly, this has helped me a lot. The pseudoephedrine helps me with the congestion and the ibuprofen helps the irritation in my nose. This particular brand doesn't make me feel spacey either, like tylenol sinus.
However after about a minute of sitting there with nothing coming out I suddenly few light headed and am starting to get a dizzy spell like I am about to faint and my breathing weakens. 3. This borderline fainting sensation lasts for about another minute before I break out into a sudden sweat all over my body. Within a few seconds I have sweat literally pouring out of me, my clothes are wet as if I ran a marathon or something. 4.
But, a year or 2 ago tops, I started coughing up what seriously puzzled is talking about. I guess it is phlegm but it is an entirely different consistency from "regular phlegm." Yes, more like pellets or small more firm balls kind of, but they smell so incredibly foul it's absolutely disgusting. I usually examine them whenever they come up which has been kind of a lot lately, and it is just one of the most wrong smells ever.
So i went to tha Dr and they told me nothing was wrong but Last night when i was {being an adult} i got up this today and i seen a light red,it look like it could be blood so i put a pad on and it was nothing but light brown discharge..i took a test and it said negative than i went to tha dr and said tha same thing..can someone call me..what should i do....
I have been getting over a recent bout of bronchitis where I was prescribed Augmentin (I am on Day 6) and Prednisone short burst (finished 2 days ago) I am still coughing quite bad but the fever has broke... but as of yesterday the phlegm/mucus I am coughing up tastes extremely salty. I have not been using any type of saline spray, or gargling with salt water, so I know this is not the reason. Is it the antibiotics causing this? Or is there another reason?
chesty cough . Coughing up green mucus..... been like this last few days taken paracetamol and honey and lemon .... is this,a cold or flu ...
You probably have or had sinusitis. The infected mucus drains into the throat from your sinuses and makes you cough. Dark green and brown phlegm usually indicates infection, light green means it's getting better.
I am concerned because I have benn coughing up not only the ugly green mucus but also a mucus that is light pink in color. Should I be worried?
This is very aggravating as mine is not only at night but a dry hacking cough that i can feel phlegm come up into my throat and is usually a white or very very light yellow. Also have in the morning a sore throat and packed nose that produces green mucus after a warm shower. Any ideas?
I had started to feel better except for some neck stiffness and then within a day, I got a soar throat and a very stuffy and runny nose, within a day I spit up more mucus that was yellowish, one of the spits had some blood mixed in with the mucus. And I now have a tickly throat again.i was around a lot of dust and house work around when this started.no fever during this or swollen glands.it has been 6 weeks and is nagging.
On day 4 I also could also only carry very light things, so don't expect to be able to pick up your bags. Day 5 I was able to get dressed, tie shoes, carry my bags and walk without supporting myself against a wall or something. You will not be able to resume normal activity in a week's time, so don't even think about returning to work that soon. I am not on day 6 and it's the first day I start to feel normal again. I can now do a bit of washing, cooking, some light activities.
I don't have a flu, I believe I have a mild fever. I have no sore throat, It started as a light cough with no mucus or flem. Just a dry cough. It has now progressed to a strong cough with some flem. Still no fever but gaining slight headache when coughing. I have been drinking tea, I have been trying to rest more, I am taking Vicks Cold/Flu Relief. It helps with the headaches but it doesn't seem to supress my cough in the slightest. Cough drops down seem to lessen my cough either.
But for the last two weeks, I have been coughing up heavy amounts of phlegm, from clear to yellow, to light green and back to yellow. The cough is hard and uncontrollable and I thought it was a bronchial infection. When I laugh, I hear (and feel) a wheezing that instantly produces coughing and phlegm. My doctor can't see me until next week and people have told me it could be anything from pneumonia to tuberculosis.
Hi, 3 weeks ago I started getting head aches, had a sore throat and was spitting green mucus for approximately 5 days. (No coughing, no runny nose). A week afterwards tears came out of my left (very little) for two days. Since then it feels like I have something in my eye, but I only see the inner muscle of my left eye a bit red. I went to the doctor, but since the soar throat was cleared we didn't focus on that part anymore. He gave me eyedrops which didn't help.
Doc, I can't stop coughing and am bringing up pus. Well, you're not alone. Millions of other people are in your shoes right now, and over 90 per cent of them have viral infections with coughs productive of colored phlegm. You should watch out for symptoms of pneumonia but if you have a fever under 100 degrees, pulse rate less than 100, less than 24 breaths per minute, and your doctor doesn't hear anything in your lungs, you can be reassured that pneumonia is unlikely.
It started three months ago with a feeling like something was in my throat, within days I started coughing up greenish colored mucus.I was not coughing,I just had to keep clearing my throat.I started having some stomach problems(diareah, churning).
I have choked on mucus at times throughout my life. I started coughing up blood and dark thick sticky mucus. Same stickiness, but color worse than normal. I finally found a doctor to send for testing three separate sputum cultures and let them grow up to 12 weeks. After the third week all three cultures shown positive for MYCOBACTERIUM GORDONAE and other bacteria of cocci and diplocci were found.
Every time you get a cold, notice how it usually starts in the throat with a tickle, a scratch, or a slight cough. It then progresses into chest congestion or travels up into the ears and the sinuses. You’ll have a low grade fever, mild chills, and a runny nose. Even if you start out with a runny nose, eventually, you’ll have throat symptoms later on. Sounds like a classic cold, right?
This gives the cilia in the closed nostril a chance to clean out all the pollution and mucus. When it’s clean, it opens up and the other side is closed to repeat the process. The things that swell up to close your nostrils are called turbinates. Keep this in mind when you are blowing your nose. One side will always seem more congested than the other, even if it’s clean. Step One: Spread your feet so they are about 2 feet apart, for better stability in the shower.
I had the feeling something was stuck, but can't remember eating anything out of the ordinary. I started coughing up Yellow/green to Grey mucus and it's been going worse from there. Since 2 days I am running a high temperature (In the mornings it's 38,5 degrees celcius), and I'm having a running nose again with watery, but still green/yellow mucus.
